Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Which one.

I'd love any version on my shelf, but I think of the one on the left when I think of the character.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Same here.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'd love to see The Ventriloquist and Scarface in a movie down the line. It's such a dark concept, and, as the show did, it could be interpreted differently. There's always that psuedo-supernatural subtext there, like when Batman was analyzing the voice tracks.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I love the eyes on the dummy.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

In this case I prefer the latter, I like the straighter lines, the unibrow and the color palette, looks a bit more dollish.

But I like the gun on the 1st one better.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

In a perfect world, this like would do the entire animated series line-up along with a "best of" roster of TNBA characters (The Bat Family, Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Freeze, and Ivy).

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I prefer the season 4 designs for most characters, but I wouldn't mind the Ventriloquist on the left.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I wonder if we'll see Mr.Freeze and Two-Face tomorrow. A friend of mine brought up that DC does all of their solicitations tomorrow, so, perhaps they didn't want the Face and Freeze to debut with con photos?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Man I can't wait for these... November seems so far away but the wait will be worth it.. Hopefully the next wave is in Spring 2015...

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Up for pre-order on BBTS, $3 off MSRP. Let's make sure this line goes the distance folks!

I'm all over these b*tches!

Nothing can be done for TNBA Joker. Best we just forget he ever happened. Wish it could be remastered to give them a doover for him.

The TNBA Joker was terrible. He looked like Gogo Dodo. Catwoman was just as bad. Baby doll looked better in TNBA though.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Bane's a bit of a puzzle for me, in that I don't think either interpretation was quite "there," in terms of visual aesthetic. The TAS version veered too far in the "Lucha Libre" direction, while I feel that the TNBA interpretation was about an inch too far in the "S&M" direction to keep it from being better. Between the spiked bracelets, the collar, and the shiny black shirt, that's what does that design in. As a kid, I thought "the all black thing looks more badass than the old version," but, when I got to be older, I started to pick up on some of the subtler design elements that informed me of Bane's acclimation to hot wax and chains.:lol

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Although, when I think about it, it does add another interesting dynamic to the character, albeit a possibly unintentional one. What if they meant for Bane to be a masochist? I suppose the idea that he literally had nothing to lose could make him quite formidable (if he wins, he wins, but, even if he loses, he still derives pleasure from it). It's subtle enough that it's ambiguous, but these are the guys who came up with stuff like Harvey being psychologically I'll prior to his accident and Mr. Freeze's sympathetic and complex characterization, so, I suppose it isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility.:lol

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, I prefer BTAS Bane too.

I guess the only thing that bugs me is the mouth and nose opening. Then again, it was an animated cartoon so they had to make him expressive some how. I used to think he was this lame Luchador too, but I think they did him justice for the show. I love how he smashed up Batman's Batmobile then that creepy animation towards the end when his venom goes haywire.

Yeah, I think my biggest issue with him was the mask design, as well. I could deal with the tights because they fit with the idea of a 1930's strongman (which fit with the show), but I never liked the nose and mouth. Now that I think about it, it may have been better if they'd have just forfeit the bare nose and kept the mouth.
