Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Man, I just noticed - thanks to that last photo I posted - that, depending on the lighting, you can get the blue highlights on Batman's black parts.

The type of ink they used allows that. Nice touch!

I don't think so. The black parts are painted/molded (not inked) in black. Actual blue highlights won't be possible, though the light source in any given picture may be blue, so that would effect how it looks, but also effect the grey and yellow. That bright blue your seeing is just the underside of the cape.

I wish they could do something like that. I do plan on adding some blue highlights to my figure, so its no big deal for me.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think in general New Batman is a GREAT improvement but two things that bother me: 1. Why no boots articulation? Come on, every other character had it + this is well needed for action poses. 2. Something is off with the head sculpt. I can only judge from the photos as I don't have the figure yet but something it not right and I still like the old Kenner's head better. I think the Bat ears are a bit too short and not the right shape (The shape is like Daredevil) they might be even too far apart hmmmm..

I agree with you, theres something slightly off about the head. The ears are a bit too thick, and they need to curve back more. Maybe some sanding will help the ears out. The lips needed some work too. Maybe they seem too thin and pinched? Kenner still captured the episode to episode likeness better, but the new one is not bad at all.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Penguin's articulation is pretty limited but Ivy is pretty good :D Here are some photos ^^ (Still would rather to have BTAS Ivy instead)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

LOL yeah I couldn't help it - it's Ivy ^______^

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

HAHAHAHA!

That opening though. :thud:
It's weird that I like her music... I've always been into hip-hop my whole life, but she caught my attention big time.
The girl rocks so much. Real artist. :lecture

Anyway, YEAH! Not only this month, but the rest of the year too!
We will get TAS/TNBA figures in November, December, January....
There goes my money..........
:thud:

As a longtime NFL fan I can relate and of course she's HOTT! Nuff said did you catch her in Soul Surfer film :drink

Anyway I wish 6" figures were the least of my expenses. HT is going to bury my funds

Please Please they have to make a S1 Ivy after this

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

They are pretty easy to find and their prices have been around $20-$25.

The figures you should get first will depend on which version of the series you prefer (TAS, TNBA), I suppose, and which character you like the most.

I'd say maybe the Joker? Such a classic having him along side Bats, specially the original designs.

Most of the figures are still readily available for less than 20 dollars at Amazon.

Yeah that's where I would purchase them since I'm finally a prime member. I was hoping manbat would show up at retail price again on amazon. Couldn't wait so I just purchased him $23 shipped elsewhere. I was gonna get Batman TAS but I need to spread out my purchase. Maybe Joker and Mr Freeze next.

Man I really can't wait for the Batmobile but hope it releases next month at entertainment earth.

Being a Prime member is great. If you can stream, now's the best time to watch all TAS because they're free to prime members. They even have STAS for free as a prime :yess:

Yeah even tho I own all the series on DVD that's what I'm doing now. Brings back memories.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I found a comparison with Kenner

Funny how the 20+ year old figure blows the new one out of the water in the aesthetics department.

Same I have all the DVDs sets. Got them all at a steal when Circuit City and Crown Books went out of business in their clearance sales.

But why bother keep shuffling discs into my blu ray player when I can just sit back and relax with the Fire TV. Too bad there was no HD but good enough on prime, streams excellent on my other devices as well :clap

The sound is phenomenal, even better than when it was Fox and the WB

The Superman and TNAB intro was classic!

hahaha! She's absolutely hot!
Yes, I did! I own that film on blu-ray! Great one!

hahaha! I don't collect HT figures... As crazy as it might sound, I've never liked figures with clothed costumes.
Of course, I fully respect HT and really dig those figures, but they're not my cup of tea.

You know what's even funnier?

Kenner never gave us another decent figure like Combat Belt Batman and Harley Quinn.
And "oh, it was the time" doesn't justify the rest of the horrible figures from TAS they gave us, because at the same time and even before, they were making those KILLER Star Wars figures that still blows everyone away.

So, yes, they were lazy with the Batman figures big time.
And yes, the only Kenner Batman TAS figures that are really, really good (that you see and say "my God! Just like the show!") are Combat Belt Batman and Harley Quinn. I can add Man-Bat here, maybe. So, that's only 3 figures.

And no, I don't say that now. Even when I was a kid and were buying them in the 90s, I'd complain just like I'm doing now.
Kenner owns every TAS fans big time.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Calm down. :lol

People with the animated series Batman avatars seem to be on edge.

As a long time Kenner collector dating back to SW, when it came to super hero figures. The goal was always make the toys " kid friendly " so they figured when it came to TAS line they figured it's already a cartoon just focus on the gimmicks for the kids and less about the figures.

Since the cartoon was uniquely made, they wanted to still appeal to the kids that watch the show as well. So color, accuracy and collectibility in the MOC factor wasn't in mind, so as long as they had Batman looking like Batman in TAS they were happy, it didn't matter if he had a blue, red, gold, violet , green etc outfit so as long as they could make more and more gimmicks that came with it that the children could play with.

I mean let's face it I remember the old Kenner play sets showed a kid playing with it on the back card on some of the lines. Don't think they had a collector taking them seriously.

You see, my point was - with Star Wars, they made the figures pretty much accurate, but still kid friendly with all the gimmicks and weird accessories.
You got all the fun but still good looking figures.
Batman didn't have that, because the actual figures were bad.

I don't know about the rest of the kids, but I've always been a perfectionist. I'd play a lot with the toys - of course! -, but I would still compare them to the actual source. And it was "this not what I'm seeing on tv".
Kenner could have done so much better with the Batman toys, like they did with SW.

Even Mattel, at the same time, were making Disney (!!) action figures (totally target at kids) more accurate than Kenner. Just take a look at the Lion King, Aladdin, Hunchback of Notre Dame etc figures - totally well sculpted and accurate.

But, well, it was what it was.
