Same I have all the DVDs sets. Got them all at a steal when Circuit City and Crown Books went out of business in their clearance sales.
But why bother keep shuffling discs into my blu ray player when I can just sit back and relax with the Fire TV. Too bad there was no HD but good enough on prime, streams excellent on my other devices as well
The sound is phenomenal, even better than when it was Fox and the WB
The Superman and TNAB intro was classic!
You see, my point was - with Star Wars, they made the figures pretty much accurate, but still kid friendly with all the gimmicks and weird accessories.
You got all the fun but still good looking figures.
Batman didn't have that, because the actual figures were bad.
I don't know about the rest of the kids, but I've always been a perfectionist. I'd play a lot with the toys - of course! -, but I would still compare them to the actual source. And it was "this not what I'm seeing on tv".
Kenner could have done so much better with the Batman toys, like they did with SW.
Even Mattel, at the same time, were making Disney (!!) action figures (totally target at kids) more accurate than Kenner. Just take a look at the Lion King, Aladdin, Hunchback of Notre Dame etc figures - totally well sculpted and accurate.
But, well, it was what it was.
Are you kidding, the whole pet peeve I grew up with was I tried my best to recreate the action figure as closet to the actual show or cartoon, comic look possible. I despised a toy looking like a toy.
Which is probably why I decided to take up customizing, it irked me that I couldn't get the perfect look for a figure so I decided to try it myself. Believe me it surprised me that I was actually able to pull it off with many of my toys growing up.
I really can relate to your logic. You should've seen me with Gundam models. Boy, I racked my brain out trying to make it look like the actual source robot as possible when I had to realize when it came to model kits, it's best to make it the way you wanted it as opposed to the actual character. That's what's fun about building models, That didn't set well with me. To this day I still have to make it as 90% accurate or it will drive me nuts.
My problem growing up is exactly what TOY STORY and TOY SOLDIERS portrayed. I wanted these figures to come to life.
Now I collect because if I can get something to pose and display in my hands then it entertains me from the source point and when it comes to HT and 12" figures the more it looks accurate the more I like when I'm watching the show, movie, cartoon etc. the source then seems interesting again.
Even if the film is horrible, I'll like the character if I have an accurate action figure of him or her displayed
Especially now as an adult spending numerous amounts of my hard earned money..it better be source accurate or it's unacceptable.
Funny how the 20+ year old figure blows the new one out of the water in the aesthetics department.
words came out to small
Yeah I got it on clearance too but forgot where. I think was at walmart during the holidays.
I actually prefer BTAS intro without Superman.
I even got all the BTAS and TNBA original figures MOC, excluding variants. Scored them cheap on ebay over a decade ago. Got it cheaper than the going price of Combat Belt Batman alone. Thats why took me this long to finally decide to get them all now, I thought the original would suffice but seeing all these pictures posted I "Bat-caved" in.
You know what's even funnier?
Kenner never gave us another decent figure like Combat Belt Batman and Harley Quinn.
And "oh, it was the time" doesn't justify the rest of the horrible figures from TAS they gave us, because at the same time and even before, they were making those KILLER Star Wars figures that still blows everyone away.
So, yes, they were lazy with the Batman figures big time.
And yes, the only Kenner Batman TAS figures that are really, really good (that you see and say "my God! Just like the show!") are Combat Belt Batman and Harley Quinn. I can add Man-Bat here, maybe. So, that's only 3 figures.
And no, I don't say that now. Even when I was a kid and were buying them in the 90s, I'd complain just like I'm doing now.
Kenner owns every TAS fans big time.
looks good. DCC should offer accessory packs.
HAHAHAHA Exactly my life!
I would paint my figures all over, because I wanted them to be exactly the way I'd see them on TV.
The Kenner Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face, anyone? LMAO I think I painted him completely. He came with brown hair, without the glove etc. LMAOOO
Not to mention the TAS figures, of course... My first Penguin, Two Face etc... All repainted by me.
Man, what about the ladies' legs? I couldn't stand them not having "normal" legs. LMAOOOOOOOOOO
My life is exactly Toy Story... Only that I couldn't even get rid of the old toys like Andy did.
They are all there, safe in the storage.
The rarerity of DCC is exactly what is in their name. These lines are made for the adult collector in mind. These figures will never be mass produced. It was never intended for kids so although we see a lot of these lines still hanging around, they won't be forever. Their intent is once they're gone..they're gone.
So we as collectors, better jump on these quick nostalgic lines because they won't be coming back in the same form. If anyone that has any interest , don't wait.
Unfortunately for myself I have too much invested in numerous lines, so my funds are spread to the point.where I have to " Pick and Choose " what I collect now and as such, I simply have to miss out on some of these figure lines.
Not by choice. If I could I would get every TAS figure to date they released.
But I can't. Same with Figuarts, Figma, ML, BS, etc.
I know what you mean, I've been collecting DCC for a while now. I used to buy the inner case sets at my LCS. Now I have to pick and choose as well. Hot Toys, Sideshow, Play Arts, Figuarts, Marvel Legends, Transformers and the list goes on.
On the flip side my Manbat was just shipped out! Just ordered it last night, that was quick.
It really sucks and is a pain to do this right sometimes, I also want to collect the ARROW and FLASH figures as well, but they're not high priority on my must haves list right now, so I have to wait.
I really want to get the PAK Vader, but I am not paying these outrageous prices I've been seeing.
The issue is with this hobby, if you wait, you can easily lose
Hahaha, yup I know what you mean. I got all the Arrow and Flash TV series to date. And I'm gonna get the Gotham ones as well lol
Yeak I regret not getting the PAK Vader, I don't own any other Star Wars PAK so I can live without it. But I still need AK Robin.
I'm the type to usually wait till I can get it with discounts. Like all the Batman PAK I didn't pay retail on those. The only one I paid for retail was Deathstroke.
Don't get me started on the Marvel Collectors Corp subscription, I wanna jump on the Star Wars and DC ones too
