Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!
looks good. DCC should offer accessory packs.
Agreed. Off the top of my head I can think of: various guns & playing cards for Joker, extra capes for BTAS Batman (draped & action), plants for Ivy, Bud & Lou (the hyenas), and I'm sure there's so much more they could do too. I might suggest that in their next q&a if they do another.
There is a precedent set, considering the fact that they've announced they're doing accessory packs for their Icons Series, which seems to be somewhat inspired by what they learned from this series, in terms of accessories, articulation, etc. Honestly, I think this is arguably the perfect line for accessory packs, due to the episode specific nature of each release. They can't do a Batman/Joker/whomever for each episode they appeared in, so, I think accessory packs would be a brilliant way to keep things fresh, without consistently rehashing items.
The potential is really endless. Just as an example, I'd love it if each pack included new accessories, some extra hands appropriate for some of those accessories, and, honestly, one or two alternate heads. One of the things about the show is that the designs are so versatile, but, also, unique. This latest Batman is a perfect example of it.
By all means, it's accurate to the show, but it's not exactly what some people might want (personally, though, while I haven't picked it up yet, I was in my LCS today, and seeing him in hand, I've not seen any photos that do justice to just how badass this figure is. The sheer presence of him up there on the rack; Riddler looks magnificent, as well), and that's okay, and I feel like accessory packs could open a lot of doors in that respect, with giving people the freedom to choose what they like best.
Take The Joker, for instance. An accessory pack could include , I don't know, the shopping cart, to complete the look from The Last Laugh, or, maybe, even, a crushed up Captain Clown for him to sit on (is he capable of that pose? I don't know that I've ever tried to do that cross-legged thing, even with those crazy splits he's capable of.
), as well as a Laughing Fish and floatation device from...well,
The Laughing Fish , or, maybe, the Kewpie doll, cane, and hatted headsculpt from Be a Clown, along with a selection of hands including one with his playing card from Joker's Wild? Then, maybe, they could top it off with an "expressive" sculpt (laughing/angry/disappointed; there were so many looks)?
