Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I like TNBA designs, but the fact that DCC has made mistakes with the size is what bothers me, Creeper is too tall and Catwoman is kinda short. I mean, watch the show, the way they look there is the way they have to take references from.

I think the Creeper height is the worst offender but in general DCC have done a far superior job on the NBA line compared to the BTAS line. Helped by the sleeker designs of course but a much more accurate and consistent looking collection when you see them all together. Kinda makes me want to collect them too haha.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I hate TNBA in general. not BTAS anymore.
Just look at Batman. he's so cold hearted, that's not the same personality anymore.

Yeah, well speaking about the show TAS beat TNBA easly :D Better characters, better stories, better "mood".. All better xD I was talking about the figures ;)

Hey guys, I got a couple messages asking how did I remove the paint from Bruce Wayne's head so I'm going to post it here,

Basically I use Brush Cleaner and cotton buds, I apply bit of the cleaner on the bud and rub it on the area I want to remove the pain from. I will do it few time until the paint is almost gone. After that I change the bud for a fresh one to remove the remaining paint. I hope this help :)

Thanks again sir, very helpful! xD

I sadly agree with you. I love BTAS way more compared to TNBA, but speaking about figures I see way more accuracy in TNBA figures :)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I collect very few lines, and even fewer as a completist, but I've always wondered: is there a line that has perfect scale ratios?

Why do manufacturers always seem to hit a wall with scale?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Man, I hope DC makes a adult Terry Mc Guinness Batman with much simpler wings that just stick out of his back and look like the show and a old Bruce Wayne head to switch out with. Plus, make sure the wings work with the current Terry figure. If they do that, I'll buy two just to have the extra wings. The wings that come with the three pack are atrocious.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

that's because it's a matter of fact that TNBA girls have big heads and tiny bodies, it's just the design :D

This was going to be pretty much my exact response haha. That's just the way they were initially designed, I'd go as far as saying when their heads were "normal"' sized, it was a mistake in regards to the original turn around designs. The bigger eyes and heads made them "cuter" or "sexier" for the more stylized animation. The figures translate this well, but I may agree that they seem a TAD too big overall on the figures.

I love both BTAS and TNBA, and I think the Bat family is far better designed in TNBA, while the villains are better in BTAS. I love the darker edge to TNBA in contrast to BTAS. I go back and forth on which I prefer, but I usually lean TNBA because of the Bat family, Scarecrow and darker, more modern red/black color scheme.

I totally agree about the figs :D
About the design the Bat family is a difficult choice for me xD I love BTAS Batman too much, but I prefer Nightwing at Robin :D Batgirl too, TNBA is way more better imo xD Tim Drake Robin is so-so... About the villains Joker BTAS win easly for me xDD Best design ever :D I like most of the BTAS villains beside a couple. Croc is way better in TNBA and Baby Doll too, she's creep as hell :D As I said before, if you love both series you can enjoy this DCC line even more because you can collect characters you like the most in the favourite design xD

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

There was clearly a design shift from TAS to TNBA that included larger noggins for the ladies. Just like Catwoman's flesh went from a healthy light tan to a pale blue.

While this new Catwoman figure does look small, I'm glad she's in the same range as the other TNBA females. I'm just missing the rocker joint of the ankles and maybe another pack-in or two and this would be a perfect offering.

Not only the sleeker and simplistic designs, but also the consistency and superiority of the actual animation of TNBA.

BTAS suffered from a terrible inconsistency. Not only on the actual animation of the show, but also on the model sheets/turnarounds.
Virtually all characters looked different from episode to episode, frame to frame. Different in anatomy (face/body drawing), height and colors. The Joker was the one that suffered the most. I once sat and watched all his episodes in sequence, and dude was basically a different person in each of his episodes. Lord have mercy. And his model sheet? How many did he have? 6 changes? Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Penguin and Batman himself are the other characters that suffered the most with inconsistency.

TNBA, on the other hand, was blessed with consistency from the get-go, with only one model sheet for each character. And the animation? Consistent and solid.
Every character looked the same in each frame and episode.

I can hardly imagine how hard it must be for the sculptors to capture what would be the "definitive/accurate look" of a BTAS character and translate that to figure form.
If they base the figure on one of the character's model sheets, that pretty much won't look like the actual show. If they base it on a single episode, it will look different in another episode. So, how to sculpt it? They will never be able to please every BTAS fan, because each fan has a different memory of the character due to the inconsistency of the show. What may be accurate to me, might very well not be to you or other fan.

TNBA figures, however, are far easier to sculpt: just go and base the figures on the model sheets and they will be show-accurate.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think it's pretty safe to say it doesn't look Clayface to anybody...

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Looking at my collection -- and the upcoming Catwoman and Riddler -- it suddenly jumped out at me at the diminishing value of the figures. Look at the first few waves and what was included versus what we're getting now.

Two Face came with hands, guns, a mask, a bag, the bottles, a clock. TNBA Bats had a second cape! Man Bat for crying out loud was a standard figure! Now we cannot even get say the gem or the statue from "You Scratch My Back" - and she's tiny! Plus the prices have gone up dramatically. I find it hard to believe that costs have gone up that much.

Does anyone else miss the decent number of accessories? Or are fine as is?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I've been on a Batman animated kick recently and have been buying more of the figures. I bought the girls night out set, clayface, mister freeze, and two face. I have a few figures already and will probably get the new catwoman and riddler. But I do agree that for the price we should get more than just a bare bones figure.

Cool to read good things about TNBA. The animation there improved a lot, the movements, the fights, really good. Shame DCC based their figures on the model sheets, with more freedom, they could have changed some stuff to make the figures more poseable like bigger shoes or arms.

I do, Bane didn´t have any accessory, Ra´s only had his mask... The accessories shouldn´t be episodic or at least not based in just one episode specially if you are going to give them one item... or none. TNBA Catwoman should have come also with the statue we saw in the episode, for example.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

TNBA gets a lot of ****, but I like it. I like most of the redesigns, stories, and animation. Not taking anything away from BTAS because I love it as well, but I feel like a lot of hate toward TNBA is unwarranted.

Yup, they raised the prices, yet cut back on accessories and articulation. Designer series had the same thing happen. First wave figs had decent articulation and at least a couple accessories, then they scrapped most accessories and made the articulation as minimal as they could. You can still find almost every Designer fig at the shops near me, warming pegs because no one wants them lol. That's why the weeded out the designer series and switched over to Bombshells, which have decent accessories and articulation. If that line had done well though, they'd still be pumping out more mediocre crap from it. I definitely miss the extra stuff and ankle articulation. At the price these are at, it's ridiculous not to have such minimal things. I have a real love/hate relationship with DCC, leaning more towards the latter lol

I second that! BTAS is great, but when TNBA came my hype for the series got higher. I wonder what would be the reaction of the classic design if they were used for TNBA and TNBA were used first for the e first v seasons

Go back in time a couple years and ask yourself this; How much would you be willing to pay for a Batman TAS figure that comes three capes instead of one, seven interchangeable portraits, a larger, more dynamic display stand, and twice the props? If you're paying $25 for that single-carded Batman, would you be willing to pay twice that for all those extras?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

People actually prefer the look of little anime TNBA kid Robin with his large noggin and Japanese hair to the original BTAS adult Robin? Wat.

The only thing TNBA has going for it is smoother animation and some great stories, but even then, some of the best TNBA episodes are just adaptations of the BTAS Batman adventures comics from the mid-90s. Things like Mad Love, Holiday Knights, The Ultimate Thrill, Old Wounds, etc. were just adaptations of BTAS comics.

And by 1994, the BTAS animation was perfected. Look at how great Batman, Robin and the villains look in episodes from Season 3 and 4 with Riddler's Reform, Bane, Catwalk, Make em' laugh, and Second Chance. Hell look at the Mask of the Phantasm. What in TNBA compares to those in character design and animation?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm pretty sure they changed it so they could make the Superman crossover easier, plus Timm's art style progressed towards more streamlined designs with time. Even more so with Justice League.

I definitely prefer the original art style more. It didn't feel like you were watching a Saturday morning cartoon.

I love that shot of angry Bruce Wayne from the Holiday Knights comic. :lol
