I know I'm late to the party, but the stand out moments to me where Arthur in his apartment, getting ready for the kill....his face all white (even his tongue) and him walking around shirtless, ready to kill with those scissors. Very simple, but very unsettling look.

If Hot Toys ever did figures, the full suit and make up version is a must, but I think the shirtless, stark white face version splattered with blood would be a great variant.

And yeah, he looked way cooler than I thought he would once he went full Joker. From way back when we saw the first still, I hated the blue highlights and red nose, but absolutely loved the color and tailoring on the suit. Seeing it in motion, especially the iconic stair dance, it totally won me over.

Those two looks were the best for me, but I think the all white psycho look splattered with blood was my favorite look and scene in the movie.

I wasn't a fan of the red nose either, but it works because he's copying the look he wore whe he killed the guys in the subway and "Joker" was born.

I really wasn't a fan of the full "clown" makeup as well but it's really grown on me, and having seen the movie it might be my favorite live action Joker look. :lol The all white makeup was great too.

It was weird how he barely looked like himself when he had the full makeup on.

He was Joker long before that scene.

True. But that last bit with Murray was when he fully embraced *every* aspect of being "Joker." Full costume, full makeup, and totally relishing the mayhem. And the transition from Arthur to Joker actually correlates pretty well with his appearances on the Murray show.

First appearance is all imagined in his head (and the imaginary elements in the film only seem to happen when he's still Arthur, not when he's Joker IIRC). In this imagined appearance, Arthur is embraced (even literally) for wanting to put smiles on people's faces. It's 100% Arthur, but he's living a lie.

Second appearance is the footage from the stand-up routine. He expected to be embraced here too (bringing smiles), but instead he was mocked and ridiculed. This appearance coincided with key points in the film that lead Arthur to realize that his life has been a deception/delusion. Still Arthur here, but starting to change.

The third appearance is obviously full Joker. Going off his meds and killing Randall was the official shift, but shooting Murray was when he had fully embraced who he really was. Instead of killing himself on the show, he effectively only killed "Arthur" (and obviously Murray :lol). All Joker going forward.

I think Bale has been great for a long time.

The Mechanist
American Psycho
The Fighter
Vice
Batman Begins
American Hustle
Hostiles
The Big Short
The Prestige
Out of Furnace
Rescue Dawn
3:10 to Yuma
Harsh Times
Shaft
That's actually not a coincidence. Bale reads by himself every movie script before taking the role. He even makes suggestions to the scrip or his role if he feel the story is weak. That's why I disagree when people say "Affleck or Leto would be better on better movies" they had the chance to reject crappy movies, but they didn't so they deserve to be called a weak Batman and a terrible Joker on their own

I fully agree I was just saying he was Joker all the way until they cut to him institutionalized at the very end where he seemed to be bringing Arthur back in or imitating Arthur.

I like the three appearances observation and how they relate to Arthur life at those specific moments. Very good, sir.

Looks like Arthur is going to get dethroned by Sarah Conner :lol

Joker had a good run, but it's November. :lol
