I posted my laments on this whole business pages ago. As over a 25 year DC reader, I feel an overwhelming feeling of emptiness. My good friend Dave who owns the LCS I frequent expressed that he felt the same way back in 1985 when DC did the original Crisis. I must agree that he nailed it when summing up what happened then and what is about to happen in a few short months. Crazy. All these titles that DC is soliciting now will be cut in half then reduced even more as time goes on. We know this is going to happen. Even the most hardcore DC fans will NOT keep the majority of these titles on their pull lists. Looks for these titles to start disappearing sooner rather than later. As for this reboot/retcon being retconned back to where things are now, who knows? Some things will bound to go back to the way they were while others will probably stay the same once they are changed. But whatever the case, this will end up being looked back on as an absolute debacle for DC. You can already see that in the number of negative posts in this thread and everywhere else across the internet related to this reboot.

They still get the very heart and soul of Superman which likely won't go ignored by Marvel.

Umm not like Marvel's going to be in the same boat, the Kirby estate is in the process of doing the same type of lawsuit against Marvel. If somehow the Siegals/Shusters/Toberoff get the ability to actually publish Superman comics, why would Marvel spend the money to license Superman when they can just create more Sentry's.

Duh, Superman > Sentry. And the bragging rights, movie deals, etc.

Still not sure why you think Marvel would spend the money and go through the trouble when they have the same issue with Kirby's estate coming up. So they can make a movie about a Superman who can't fly, has no name villians, etc.... Marvel's in the business to make money not throw it away. Besides who do you think Kirby's estate attorney is..... Marc Toberoff. Kirby's estate unlike that of the Siegals is not looking for monetary compenstation, they just want a portion of the rights to be reverted back to the Kirby estate.

Look what Marvel's doing with comic movies ATM, and has been doing since Spider-Man and Blade. I wouldn't doubt they could do the same with Superman.

Or they could put the time, money and effort it would take to get the rights into getting more of they're OWN characters onto the big screen yeah?

Seriously Supes and Wondy have nothing going for them aside from they're pop culture status, and DC will have they're own version of Superman with this reboot you really think Marvel would pay for the rights of an outdated version of one of they're biggest rival's characters?

No thanks, I don't want the Marvel Superman who jumps from place to place. I'll stick with the DC Superman who can fly. :rotfl

The films are using the original Superman basis because that was a stipulation of the families to create a film for their character either in theaters or in production at all times basically. This Snyder film is being fasttracked so WB isn't found in breach and owe a ton of fines and fees to the families for not meeting that. They are perfectly fine with it. Now if the families sever ties with DC/WB, they would probably reboot the series or within the sequel focus on whatever changes they'd do in the funny pages. WB has to pay royalties either way. The first Superman film by Snyder will be the Superman as we know it. The sequel if there is one....who knows.

Thank you. So they even have to pay royalties on the first Snyder film?

That's the most interseting thing about all this. The original Crisis was done to simplify the universe because you were never sure who you were reading about. Is Superman from Earth 1 or Earth 2? Is it the Daliy Star or Daily Planet? I think the original Crisis worked and was good idea. A few years ago they started all that Crisis stuff up again, created new earths, bringing back old characters and changed the numbering system of books back the way it was before. So is this another clean sweep to fix everyting again?

I wonder if it would have been better off if they have done more drastic changes to Superman's costume. For me, It looks so close to the original that the changes just emphasized the old costume more. The armor look just doesn't fit Superman and his powers. The collar - i can stand. I've also wondered in the past if kryptonite can be shielded by lead, why doesn't superman just line his suit in some lead based material?

something tells me that supes suit might be of kryptonian origin, or where ever he will come from come reboot time, and that this is influenced by that culture instead of ma kent doing the suit for him

That picture looks better and makes in look more practicable rarther than an armour
But I thought the whole point was the skin tight suit was protected by this aura

Well, that's still a little better than the previous pic I saw, but still, I think that Supes is in the same line as Spiderman: too iconic for a change.

If this had been the original costume, it could have been great, but I'm too used to the other and everything it stands for not to consider the guy wearing this new suit as a copycat that will never be Supes to me...

Kind of like the actors playing the character: There is the real one (CR) and all the others who're just actors. I know it sounds stupid, but that's the way I feel...

You guys saw the news on "resting off" the JSA?

https://robot6.comicbookresources.c...ty/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

"One of the many questions surrounding DC Comics’ line-wide renumbering centered on the absence of Justice Society of America, a title that in recent years had undergone its own high-profile reboot and spawned two spinoff series. The Justice Society, with a sprawling membership that includes Golden Age characters (or their namesakes) like The Flash, Hawkman, Green Lantern and Hourman, reached deep into DC, and comic-book, history, forming the very first team of superheroes.

But Justice Society wasn’t among the 52 books rolled out by the publisher last week. Neither, for that matter, was Power Girl, whose title character has been closely associated with the JSA since her debut in 1976. And the solicitation for Mister Terrific #1, featuring a new take on “the world’s third-smartest man” — and two-time chairman of the team — makes no mention of the group. Then came the unveiling on Friday of Action Comics #1 which, as Robot 6′s J.K. Parkin pointed out, refers to “a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero.”

If all of that isn’t enough to signal the end, or non-existence, of the world’s first team of superheroes, official word came over the weekend from Co-Publisher Dan DiDio, who wrote on his Facebook page, “As for JSA, we have decided to rest this concept while we devote our attention on the launch of the three new Justice League series. As for other characters and series not part of the initial 52, there are plenty of stories to be told, and we’re just getting started.”

As with any demise in superhero comics, this one is probably only temporary (heck, the JSA itself has been put to “rest,” only to be resurrected, a handful of times over the past 60 years). However, when the publisher is pushing a “modern” and “contemporary” take on its superhero universe, grappling with graying characters so firmly rooted in World War II will undoubtedly prove problematic."

Pffft! Problematic my butt!! more like, "we can't be bothered with these old golden age characters" or "our imaginative brain cells are being stretched thin as it is without having to work this in our new continuity."

FAIL!No Power Girl or Cassandra Cain fail!Bye bye DC it was nice knowing you and Marvel. I'll look for my Super heroes else where.
