I thought that someone posted that Gordon "somehow" gets the use of her legs again, which to me meant that she did loose it in the past in the "killing joke" story line.

I don't see why my post was deleted. I haven't read it in awhile but I'm pretty sure that in the Killing Joke it is implied that the Joker, or atleast the Joker's goons have "their way" with Barbara after shooting her.

You are correct. She was raped after the Joker shot her and they even took pictures of it. I think it was the "Ledger" part of your post that made some tittybabies report it.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't use that to turn Grayson into an anti-hero during the 90s lovefest with them. Not trying to start a fight just saying it would have been easy to have Grayson blaming Bruce for being "too soft" cause wasn't he dating her at the time? Since DC seems to be trying to have a slice of that now*20 yrs too late for that guys*

If that Batgirl book turns out to be about Babs' glory days expect a massive ____ storm from fans of Cass AND Steph.

There already is, it happened before the book was confirmed and when it was confirmed it got worse. As a fan of both Cass and Steph I'm very annoyed not even so much that they have to have Barbara as Batgirl again, but that there is room in the DCnU for all 4 Robins but only 1 Batgirl.

So this whole _____-fest wasn't started from you not being able to accept that somebody preferred Nicholson to Ledger? 'cause that's what it looks like.

Maybe you should learn to read.

Both interpretations are different enough that there's no need to trash the other one.

A hell of a lot farther than you, who's world ended when Ledger died. :wave :lol

Judging by your post count, I doubt that. Stellar comback by the way, you really got me with that one.

:rolleyes2

I don't get it either. I never cared for Cassandra Cain but I do like Stephanie Brown.

I love seeing Babs back in the suit but there's room in the DCU for more than one Batgirl.

Trust me I'm a huge Cass fan when Steph replaced her I pretty gave up on DC*save for the occasional issue of PG* But atleast it was a current character that replaced her*eventhough Spoiler Steph>Batgirl Steph IMO*

and I agree I wasn't expecting Cass to be Batgirl again but I was hoping she'd either be Black Bat or *wishful thinking* Kasumi again and she and/or Steph as Spoiler to be teamed up the new Tim* I actually like that he's been separated from the Batman mythos and was hoping the same would happen to Cass and Steph.*

I'm surprised Joker's goons didn't do that to Grayson instead. Imagine if Moore had really pushed the envelope there, the sheer infamy that comic would have had! :lol

You kidding DC would've been burnt to the ground by an angry mob of moral watchdogs and Grayson fanboys(and girls) if they did that! :lol

Am I right in thinking that this whole relaunch thing is a way of hooking in new readers - and they're changing some characters and their histories to make it easier for new readers to jump in without confusion as to what's going on and who's who?
'Cos if so that doesn't seem to have worked IMO. Not where Batman is concerned anyway...
Any new readers now have Damian, Tim, Jason & Grayson in current continuity - call me crazy for thinking that wouldn't confuse the hell out of anyone wanting to know their histories!
Plus we still have multiple Batmen in the form of Batman Inc. I'm sure new readers would assume their is only one Batman and be slightly confused by this too.
Also, I thought DC were supposed to be making all of their flagship heroes younger? It certainly doesn't seem like Bruce has been made any younger - what with having three proteges and a son!

I'm not 100% keeping up to date with the news from DC at the moment - but from what I've read and learned so far all I find is contradiction.
Am I just missing things here? Or are we all just still guessing really?

Over 20% of the new titles are Bat-family. 25% if you count JLA and Suicide Squad. And that will go up when Batman Inc relaunches next year. This is why I'm not even going to bother with Batman, I'll just get TPB's of the good stories.

Based on all the oxymoronic updates Mike and others have posted (not their contradictions, but statements from senior DC staff that contradict other statements from other senior DC staff), it sounds like DC doesn't even know what the ____ is going on. They make heroes younger, but allow them to have flashbacks of their older selves and current continuity. Barbara is Batgirl again, but they've kept The Killing Joke continuity where she's paralyzed (does she ride around in a Bat-chair?) and as you've mentioned kept the chaos that is Batman Inc. Oh, and Wonder Woman has pants now and has ditched the Stars 'n Stripes. :monkey1

Two options with Batgirl: 1: That book is a retro comic like Action Comics which explores Barbara's life as Batgirl before the Killing Joke. 2: They alter the Killing Joke to where she isn't paralyzed but injured and it probably spurs a lot of angsty filled storylines.

As for the JSA, Those who have been following DC for awhile remember that in HUSH, Jeph Loeb already kind of dealt with the retconn of the age of the JSA to the Justice Leaguers. While playing with Thomas Elliot, Bruce Wayne sees Alan Scott in full Green Lantern garb fighting Icicle. It's been a while since I've read HUSH but I believe Bruce was 10. Which means that the JSA would have been in full action before that point and "died" out before Bruce became Batman which would be at least a decade.

I'd buy that book.
Could actually be interesting! :huh

If it's that then I'd definitely buy the book. Anything else and I'd be very weary... if they keep her history intact but she suddenly has the use of her legs again then it's a definite non-purchase!

I guess the only real way to know for sure what's going to be going on in the Bat-world come September is to wait and see since there's so much unclear right now....

Also, slighty off topic, but I'm really enjoying the Arkham City comic mini-series DC are currently running. Shame they couldn't make that a permanent title for the relaunch - nice self contained universe there with no muddied histories or story arcs.
