In a nutshell:

Selena spends the first couple of pages pulling on her costume unsuccessfully and showing the readers her choice of bra color. Her place gets blown up. She goes to a friend for help. The friend is an informant on where to steal stuff from. She goes to a Russian bar to find a mark. She sees her old pimp there. Follows him into the bathroom and promptly exposes her boobs to get his attention. She kicks the crap out of him. Then changes into Catwoman and escapes the bar. Goes back to a penthouse which she is squatting in thanks to the informant and Batman meets her there. She have sex with the uniforms on and we are told as the reader this isn't the first time it happened and that Batman is usually upset with himself afterwards.

That's about it. I would call that pretty bad but there have been some fanboys who are loving the oversexualization of it.

That's a real shame. I was quite interested in picking this up but don't think I'll bother now. Doesn't sound too good. Especially that bit with batman. The whole "he's upset with himself afterwards" thing seems very uncharacteristic for him. For a man with so much self-discipline to spend his whole life training, but can't say no to sex with catwoman. Hmmm

I liked more of the stories that came out this week than last week's titles.
Batman 1 - liked it, interesting holo device, nice catch at the end
Birds of prey - surprisingly liked, want to know where it leads
Captain Atom - dislike, Can't get rid of Mr. Manhattan out of my mind.
Catwoman - dislike. Really? Batman just for booty call?
LOSH - dislike - nothing really grabbed me.
Green lantern corps - like, nothing's changed, just the same old grind for the Corps.
Nightwing - dislike, he's not batman anymore.
RED Hood - dislike - Where are all these Super villain conglomerates coming from?
Supergirl - definitely like, Didn't they say no more short skirts to devalue women? I didn't think they meant they opted to show them in underwear only. I guess now we know where Superman's red tights went. Story is simple but well told, want to know more.
WonderWoman - like, glad to see her in her underoos again, the gods are back or not back but it's all good.

I'd like to direct those of you looking for a female character in the new 52 done right, to Supergirl #1. I have no complaints with this book and am really looking forward to seeing where they go with this title.

I've also heard good things about Batgirl and Wonder Woman.

I wanted to check out the Catwoman book since she and Red Hood*before he went ____ing insane* are my fav Bat rouges but it looks like they've turned her into a crappy one dimensional femme fatale.

Couple of questions:

Is Supergirl as much of a _____ as the previews made her sound or is she somewhat likable?I ask because since they canned the PG book I was thinking of checking out SG.

Has anyone read the new BOP,Hawk and Dove or Suicide Squad books they any good?

Batman #1 was awesome. Really happy it held up to Detective Comics. Good catch on the 89' Batmobile, IJ btw.

Catwoman #1 wasn't as bad as some felt it was, I thought. I'm interested to see how they explore why she has the issues she does that make her such a senselessly sexual creature. I'm guessing we'll be seeing more brutal flashbacks to her youth. It felt like I was reading one of those pervy japanese manga books at times though. So. Much. Fanservice. :lol

Right now she's just a confused teenager with super powers that about sums up her position as of the first issue.

Birds of Prey was alright nothing special though. It's a decent first issue.

Suicide Squad seems to depend on who you talk to, its going to be one of those judge for yourself type books. People seem to love it or hate, I hated it.

Haven't gotten to that point yet, basically the first issue has very little substance and feels like a picture book but it sets up the 2nd issue which should be interesting especially how different Superman is now in the New 52.

BoP is garbage, IMHO. It takes an interesting situation and makes it one-dimensional and completely predictable.

Hawk and Dove was interesting if you care about the characters at all but Liefeld's art ruins it IMHO.

Suicide Squad was alright. The characters seem to be an interesting group but how they'll play out is the big question.

Thanks Mike

Think I'll still check out BOP though since I love Katana's redesign.:monkey3
Nice to know Liefield's still considered a hack.:lol*Still wish I could atleast draw as good as him atleast:monkey2*

Wow, that Batman cameo in Catwoman (um, pun not intended) really sounds dumb.

Thanks for all the reviews. I'm torn on whether to read the books when they come out in TPB, so this will make it easier to decide as more issues come out. I just wonder if reading these books will make things more or less confusing when (I don't think its a question of if) they revert to the old universe.

I thought Batman #1 was very good. I liked Suicide Squad at first, but the more I think about it, I can see myself losing interest in it very fast.

Grifter was nothing special, Nightwing was Ok. But, I will continue on with Nightwing, just because ____ Grayson is one of my all time favorite characters.

I thought Catwoman was Ok. I liked Batgirl much more though.

Next up: Red Hood and the Outlaws and the different Lantern books.

Well in theory if they do in fact revert back, aside from Green Lantern I doubt much of this will stay in continuity.

How is this guy still in the industry?! :slap

Blue Beetle was okay although really trying hard to press to readers that Jaime is Mexican. I mean hit you in the face with a burrito kind of obvious.

Captain Atom was interesting in parts but overall does feel like what if Dr. Manhattan was an ordinary guy.

Deadman is a nice twist on the character but far too convoluted especially for those who followed Blackest Night. I will probably follow out the first arc because I like the character but it's not impressive.

Deathstroke was good but over the top. They should have drawn Slade like Stallone.

Demon Knight was bleh.

Out of what has premiered already I'm in for 14 titles next month. We'll see how the last week plays out.

Since they kept so much of Batman's the same, I can see his staying as well. Alot of it will probably depend on popularity imo. They might pick and choose from what fans like and carry that over.

I don't see them going fully back. I would bet that if they toss out the New 52 it'll be some sort of amalgam of the old and the new. Gotta sell a bunch of new #1s.

One of the things I didn't like about Captain Atom is what happens at the end. I mean, It's the first issue and you're gonna play that card already? C'mon!!

Deathstroke is over the top. I don't know how he got his own title. He's kinda a one dimensional character to me but he is made more so in the first issue.

I was thinking they might split the two universes and have two ongoing universes like Marvel's 616 and Ultimate universes. If what they are doing now is popular enough it might give them a chance to sell more. The people who like both will probably buy both, the ones who bailed out might come back with the old universe and the new fans can stay in the new.

The difficult thing is how much they both have in common for some characters.

Honestly, it was the Ultimate Universe that got me in to the 616 universe. But that's pure speculation on my part and I think pretty much everyone in this thread knows way more about comics than me. :lol

The mysterious hooded lady gives them an out to head back if they wanted to are even split if they wanted to. Who knows what route they'll take.
