Dayum!... so Starfire's a total Ho now.
If feminist groups knew anything about comic books these days methinks they'd be storming DC over the New 52 so far.
I seriously haven't read a single book with female leads where they aren't drawn or overtly portrayed as straight-up sex objects. Even Wonder Woman has an implied nude scene in her book.
Speaking of which... my quick run down the rest of this week's reads:
Wonder Woman #1: Wow. Very cool book and setting up an interesting new arc. Also probably the darkest, most violent Wonder Woman story I've ever read. I'll definitely stick with this one.
Nightwing #1. Not bad, not great. I'm in the "it's mediocre" camp on this one. But I'll probably give it another try with #2. Decent cliffhanger. This book also makes it perfectly clear that the entire Return of Bruce Wayne/Batman Inc. storyline is still canon.
Green Lantern Corps #1. Tomasi did a good job here, because the book is filled with GL characters I either never heard of before (new ones) or ones I never cared for, but it's an egaging set up story. And also very, very violent and graphic at times.
Red Hood and The Outlaws #1. I like that this book will delve a lot deeper into Jason Todd's pysche and who he is now that the Batman/Red Hood storyline is behind him. But this is totally a book aimed at the young Dude-Bro crowd. Starfire is already the comic book equivalent of a blow up doll here. And the 2 male leads edge dangerously close to being your basic 20-something douches throughout. Not sure about this one...
DC Universe Presents Deadman #1. This is going to be a slow burn and won't be for everyone, but I'm in.
