Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Hi folks, new to the board. I was just wondering whether anyone happens to know the exact height of Arkham Origins Series 1 Bane.
I need to know if he'll fit between my bookcase shelves.XD He looks considerably taller than the other characters.

Said shelves (sorry really hard to take a sharp picture because of the lighting):

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

He's listed as being 8.25", so maybe about an inch or so taller than Mr Freeze.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Is the new Bane rerelease accurate to the Asylum game? if not what are the differences, because honestly I think the original Arkham asylum Batman figure was good enough and this repainted one with the Bane rerelease seems useless in a way. So I was getting this set to upgrade my Bane, now Bane being a more integral character in the Asylum story I really dont want him if he is too specific to City.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

^ Yeah this updated Bane is very much Arkham Asylum accurate. Infact, there's not actually any difference at all in Bane's look for both games. They were identical.

This updated version has red tubes instead of the goofy looking bright green ones the orginal figure had, which looks much better IMO and is still very game accurate (for both games).

So you could theoretically use this new Bane for either Asylum or City displays as it would be accurate for both.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

well the 2pack is the same as the last one but with new legs, head and right hand, as well as a new paint job with the color tubes. othet than that its a slight improvment from the last one.

edit:
yep SFA is right in both games bane has the same look. toy wise its the same too but some differences and like sfa said this new bane can be use for both set ups if you like.

I love your set up! That looks awesome, particularly Joker in the middle! With your 'heroes' on top, cool!

The new bane doesn't reuse any parts from what I can tell. It's a completely different figure. The new bane has a move articulation in the arms than the old one. the only thing they COULD possibly have reused is the torso, but it looks different to me.

Bane is a big improvment in my opinion, not crouched over, better face, tubes are green, and a good amount of articulation.

I have to say though I still really like the Series 2 Bane, I want it too at some point. Hopefully the prices for it will go down when the new one comes up. I'd love to have the new one with my City rouges and the old one with Asylum Joker and Harley.

Thanks.:) It's the lighting that makes it truly pop but that doesn't translate on (my crappy phone) camera unfortunately. Great way to liven up my book/dvd case!:D

I was thinking about adding Origins Bane and Deathstroke on the hero shelf, but in the corners (so they're truly surrounded). Deathstroke anyway, but Bane I'm not sure whether he'll fit in between.XD

Ah thanks, 8.25 wow, then Bane won't fit haha! Damn. And it looks like his articulation won't make it possible to lower his height by angling his legs.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

I just got Killer Croc today, so far no arm issues, and I love the figure thus far and with Hugo on the way my collection is really coming along. :)

Yeah, your display really looks nice. So did you just get some of your favourite rouges? I was going to do that, but I wanted the others ones too much to resist. :D

Depending on when I get Bane I'll let you know how much he can crouch down. How tall is your shelf? Probably would only be able to shave about an inch or less off his height.

Just please, take my warning. If it doesn't want to move and feels like it needs force to move it, don't do it. If you boil some water and pour it in a sink with him in it and let it soak for 10-15 it'll soften the plastic so you can free up some of the articulation. But even then with mine he doesn't have full movement and I've done it twice.

My Hugo is supposed to come today or tomorrow, I'll post some pictures for you guy when I get him out of the package. :)

Thanks! I see now that I've miscalculated, the height is just a little over 8 inches, so it should be possible to get him in between there. :yess:

And yeah pretty much. I miss Two-Face though (not gonna buy mattel stuff). And I have Play Arts Kai Catwoman. But yeah, apart from Poison Ivy being easily one of the worst of the Arkham lines imo, and missing Two-Face, my collection does feel somewhat complete now. I like plenty of the more supporting villains as well, like Zsasz and Hush, but I collect more than this line, and regarding my limited amount of shelf space, just having the main heroes and main villains was enough for me.

Only figure I'm definitely buying now is Deathstroke. Bane I'm not sure, because I never really liked Bane that much. Tbh it's the Dark Knight Rises Bane that I mostly like.:p I'd be so psyched if they did a comic run with him where they made him a little more unrealistically ripped and focussed on him using that gas of his to not feel pain. I find it funny how it took me 'bout 6 viewings before I saw Batman gets his gauntlet blades hooked behind Bane's mask tubes and is only then able to rip them loose. Nolan dropped the ball a bit on filming that last fight.:dunno But I deviate off-topic...

Thanks for the advice, so far the only joints that have been stiff are the elbow joints, I'll try that out in the future. Just found out my Hugo is set to arrive sometime on Monday...the wait is going to kill me.

In my experience a blowdryer on hottest setting works best... After a minute of focussed hot air all soft plastic becomes really, REALLY soft. Just remember joints and body's are usually hard plastic, so only exert force on the soft plastic or otherwise you might crack the hard plastic like you'd normally do. Joints become very movable though if attached to soft plastic limbs, and there's little risk in hurting the figure with hot air. (Always reminds me of when Harry's arm gets zapped and he loses his bones in that second film, it gets all flubbery.:lol)

I switched out AA Harley Quinn's arms like this without any problems. Her arms matched her boots, but they should be reversed. But thankfully the mold was the same, so that was easily fixed.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

So I ended up at SDCC with a bracelet from a nice girl who didn't want it to buy the Hugo Strange figure. I thought of you guys and would like to pass the karma on, so if any of you are looking for Hugo and are ok covering what I paid + shipping PM me and I'll get him to you.

Yeah, that 1/4 of an inch won't give you any trouble. :)

I really don't want to buy Mattel stuff either personally, but I figured, either deal with the Mattel Two Face or do without. Shame it seems DC Direct is done with the City line for the most part. I'd love to have a DC Direct Two Face sitting in place of the Mattel one. But in the end I'm happier with the Mattel Two Face than no Two Face at all.

Origins Bane does look a lot more like Nolan Bane than any other Bane I know of beside the actual Nolan Bane. He'd look pretty good up there I think. Wouldn't be a bad look at all. The way I see it Bane was always how he is in Origins up until the events in Arkham Asylum with Joker. Batman said Bane was more powerful than before, so at least to me, I think Bane looked like how he does in Origins before Joker pumped him pull of venom again.

Yeah, the elbows are going to be stiff. Just hold the bicep piece and the rest of the arm. Don't just try and bend the elbow, that's how a lot of arms broke from people trying to bend the stiff elbows. Just keep the pressure off the shoulder and you should be fine. ;) The wait's killing me too, I don't have tracking, so it could be within a few hours, tomorrow, or Monday.

I use a blow drier for 99% of my work with figures. Croc is just so much larger I wanted to make sure the plastic was heated up all through his torso and arms. A hair drier I feel wouldn't work too well on Croc, but any other smaller figure I'd do the same thing.

Are AA Harley's gloves mispainted or are the arms just merely switched out? I was worried about even trying to switch out the hands due to the usually thing pegs on them, but I'm glad they'll swap out with a little heat from a blow drier.

I never liked how little Two-Face had to do in City anyway. I hope he returns in Origins (I'm not sure). And yes the developers have explicitly said they took a few notes from Nolan for this Bane (the chest guard is the most immediate thing I can spot). My thing is more that I loved what Hardy did with the voice, and also that beast of a Mask itself. It's so iconic to me, yet didn't reach full potential in TDKR because of Nolan's strict approach for those films. But it also means he's not Cuban anymore, which I guess kills diversity. However, can't help but be of the opinion I like Hardy's cold british demeanour much more. If only they'd work that mask into Bane's design, that mask is so monstrous.
