Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I think they look atrocious. Just awful.

Bad paint, and they look like they got deformed/stretched in the molds. Especially the heads. Definately a clear drop in quality compared to the first waves of Arkham Asylum. I heard they switched the plastic they were using or something, don't know why the hell these stupid people try to make changes half way into something that was already working.

I think with Hot Toys in the game, I will bow out of this line before I get sucked into paying $40 for a similarly ____ty looking deluxe figure and all of the other waves.

Not really bad paint, heads are allright. Not noticed a drop in quality compared to AA, AC figures sit proudly next to the AA waves I have, just as detailed. People complained about Cats and Riddlers face, but I dont think theyre bad.

Lets be honest; £15 figure vs £250 HT figure. Big difference there. buy all 5 of these HT style= £1250, buy these DCD style; £75. Massive difference there.

The deluxe figures look superb, Detail on Freeze looks fab, and Croc looks awsome too.

anyway, these aren't meant to be HT crowd, I mean, the rubber lasts more than 2 years for starters (Which put me off buying the 89 Keaton and the 89 Batmobile) , let alone the price being not even 10% of a HT model. So I dont get the point of comparing it to HT because its a completly difference target audience, completly different style of modeling and its a completly different buyer who would buy HT compared to DCD. I know young teens who adore the DCD, they'd never be able to afford a single HT let alone waves of HT. Bit of a ridiculous comparison.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Cool, thanks.

I don't think you can even consider these figures atrocious. There are truely atrocious figures out there - Thane from DCD's Mass Effect line, and most of Mattle's AC figures - but this line isn't one. They look almost exactly as they do in the game, with decent enough articulation, paint etc.

If these were £60 figure I could understand being majorly picky, but for the price these are excellent. Croc, Freeze, Titan Joker, Azrael, Clown Thug are all still to come and all look particularly excellent. I wasn't even keen on Titan Joker, but seeing the figure makes me like the design and everything, and it's a rare thing for a figure to convince me of a design I didn't previously like.

This is one figure line that deserves barely any criticism - generally excellent sculpts, especially for the price point, and seems to be the most thorough line of figures for Batman villains to date. AND all AC's character designs are excellent, so having them in figure form is great. Though that said, the paint of the Riddler's face seems a bit messy on that eBay link, and the plastic waxy, but still not enought to make it atrocious.

I'm not comparing them to Hot Toys, simply stating that with far better versions coming to represent the game, and the quality here dropping, I am reconsidering collecting the entire rogues gallery and instead simply buying a few Hot Toys figures. Yea Freeze looks great now, but we saw a hand painted prototype.

I am comparing them to AA. I owned all the Hush, Secret Files, TLH, etc figures, and AA was a clear improvement, these have gone right back to that old style DCD with sloppy paint apps and poor castings, no doubt about it. The fact that DCD is for the first time ever rereleasing a set/wave with AA, also tells me they are after the money they know they can make here and thats not helping.

Who says they're rereleasing them? And rereleasing them would please those who missed out on them originally. So everyone wins.

Also, Hot Toys will probably make a Batman, maybe a Harley and Joker and that'll probably be it. Hardly a decent, full line.

But as with most figure lines, I'd say you need to have them in-hand to judge them, or at least wait for in-depth photos and reviews.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

sorry if this has been answered, but what is the difference between :
Batman Legacy Singles Series 03 - Arkham City Harley Quinn
and
Batman Arkham City Action Figure Series 01 - Harley Quinn

other than one being dc direct and the other mattel, I bought both, but are they much different?

ahh so just got them, and now I know the difference, they both have bats, but the dc direct looks like crap compared to the mattel version. there is actual attention to detail, the paints look better, and the sculpt is WAY better.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I'd rather have 10 of these DCD figs than 1 Hot Toys fig. And I agree that they will only make 3-4 of the top ones and thats all.

But at £15 a pop are they? Thats what im saying. If we are comparing Mattel to DCD thats appropriate. Personally, the DCD are better, but theres abit of detail missing on Robin. I like the statue-esque stance of the DCD, the Mattel have far too many joints clearly visible here there and everywhere. I can see peoples point on Catwomans face, but to me it's not a massive hinderence, its still pretty good.

Mattels Batman is attrocious though, it looks like a 5 year olds toy.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I know I'm going ot need a better setup pretty soon here but for now this will do. Riddler does need his glasses but other than that I really like him. Catwomans face is blah but she is nice to have as well.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I think they look good! Not sure what people expect for the price range. I wish I could but them for $15 or so but here in Australia add $10 to every toy. The paint looks good on these. Catwoman I think looks better than the Mattel and I think you will find is better made. Mattel seems to take short cuts. This is only my opinion and I know I will but one of all the DC Arkham figures and hope they produce the whole roster from the games and any from future games. :)

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

riddler looks like david letterman

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I can't stand Riddler without his glasses. My most anticipated figure ruined. How they can leave out a feature/look essential to his design in the game to instead have him missing them, which during the entire game he never once had them off, is ridiculous. If they knew they were not going to include them, then they should have sculpted them on.

Now this just seems like a money grabbing line, where as before it seemed to be almost flawless. Mad Hatter with not a single accessory? At least give him a tea pot and cup...his hands even look meant to hold them. They have made figures his size plenty of times as PACK-INS! Bane originally cost the same.

I am sure Mr Freeze isnt going to be a top seller if he truly has nothing extra to him. There is no reason at that price point, why they cannot include a frozen state Nora with him as well.

I would wish for a Riddler variant with glasses, but I don't think thats enough for a variant. Dunno what else they could do. I am also surprised his figure didn't include a Riddler Trophy, all things considering his roles in these games.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

DCD really has ripped us off lately with these. Hatter as a full priced figure and no accessories? Freeze the same price as Croc because he is a little complex? Missing parts of an ouftit? Please.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I'm sorry but they look awful. That ain't the Riddler I remember from the game, he at no point doesn't wear his glasses, it just doesn't look right, and Catwoman is hideous. Selina in this game is probably the best looking Catwoman ever, that figure looks like a transvestite, and an ugly one.

Products on par with the Arkham Asylum wave like Harley, Joker and Scarecrow. :dunno Mattel, let me say that again, Mattel has one upped their Harley and Catwoman figures. The Mattel.

Now this just seems like a money grabbing line, where as before it seemed to be almost flawless.

Thank god I'm not the only person that feels that way. How people can not see a clear quality drop is boggling, they just simply don't want to. At least it happened now and not in wave 4 when I was already several hundred deep into the line. I guess the Deluxe preorder pricing proved to DC Direct they could ____ this line out and people would eat it up. I'm out.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I think DCD's AC Harley is better, but I do think Mattel's Catwoman is the better of the two. She has a far better likeness to the game's face than DCD's botox accident.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

DCD's Harley from AA is amazing, the AC version looks like a 12 yr old Taylor Momsen.

and Catwoman =

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Is anyone else gonna try this when they get their series 2 figs? Switching out the infected batman's head and putting it with Hush's body.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Just had a look at the Infected Batman and you could take his head off easily enough. Depends on if Hush's head has the same joint. I can actully see an unmasked Hush as a SDCC exclusive. Easy enough for them to do. Would just have to change the paint apps on the Bruce head.

Also BBTS just sent me my confirmation of the order leaving the warehouse. Happy days ahead as I'm looking forward to these. Getting tired of the same people saying the same things here. I like the figures, I think they are off a great quality for the price you pay. I look at figures like Hasbro Star Wars Clone Wars and we pay $16 with no articulation and is a repaint. That's nearly half the price of Freeze and he comes with more articulation, is double the size and alot better paint apps so I have no problem paying that money for him. I don't care he is the same price as Killer Croc. I'm more happy that he will be in proportion in size to the game compared to ther Batman toys or other company's. I personally think DC Collectables are doing a fantastic job on these. Not everyone will be happy and that's ok, I just get sick of reading the same comments again and again on here. We have a new wave shipping and I'd prefer to see everyones collections with the new figs. Can't wait to see SF's pics when he gets them in his very cool diorama. That excites me. I love it as DC Collectables figures all fit together so nicely. As a whole collection they will be very, very cool.

Thats my rant and I won't do it again. If people want to complain about it then I understand and won't retaliate as we all have our opinions. I just am lucky to be in a position I can be a collector and collect great figures and afford to.

Same pal. Dont like em, dont buy em! For £15 you cant grumble at all. Comparing Hatter to other figures I can see the problem, he is not only tiny but doesn't come with anything. But then, He doesn't really need to in honesty. The same with Riddler; Can see why people would be griped about glasses, id like him to have glasses and a different paint style for the clothes, but it dont bother me in the end. Catwoman dont bother me. Sacrifice abit of face and have seamline joints, or have a better face and lots of kids-toy like joints clearly visible? I prefer the statuesque figures, so in turn, im happy.

They should've just done Hatter as a full diaorama at the end of wave 4; Hatter, Table, Bunny batman, 4 thugs and crockery. Would've been ace to be honest. But ho hum, doesnt bother me in the end as its a collection and I want em all!

I can see the qualms with Croc against Freeze, but then the other perspective is are we getting Freeze more expensive, or getting Croc cheaper? Giant figure for £34, or a detailed taller freeze for £34.

In all honesty, were getting a comprehensive line of Arkham City figures. Were getting Azrael, Batman, Rha's, penguin and some Thugs. Im hoping for Solomon grundy and for Clayface. I want a battle damaged, clay variant Batman with the sword. Im pretty sure we will get Two-face at some point along with Nightwing. I want deadshot, Talia, Penguin thugs in the furry jackets, Two face thugs, They MUST do Hugo strange, and I want Tyger guards; Sniper, Armoured, Shield and Shock sticks be them variants or not. A slightly disapointing wave will never put me off.

Buttmunch, what parts missing from where? Not been keeping up with things to be honest; I just check for release dates.
