If DP has a low ES then the price would be fair. However the ES will easily be 5000 so yea SS is really reaching. There will be people that get it though and congrats to them.

Harbottle just posted this over on the other forum...

Hey guys, there's been some misunderstanding with our intentions on this piece so l just thought I’d throw in my two cents. First, I'm very proud of this piece and, as Greg has said, initial sales have gone far beyond our reasonable expectations. We’re stoked that our ambitious risk is paying off because that means there’s room for us to flex our creative muscles a bit more in the future. But our intentions with this piece have been misunderstood by some and have resulted in a lot of unproductive and sometimes needlessly heated conversation. It should have been clear that this piece does not represent an across the board change to the PF line in terms of pricing...that this piece is unique. Many of you who saw this piece in person in San Diego understand why a comparison with something like the Spider-Man PF is apples and oranges. Spider-Man is a magnificent piece, capturing the quintessence of the character perfectly and simply. Deadpool is a very different character and we were shooting for something completely different with him in this statue. Deadpool is over the top and we wanted to reflect that. What makes this piece different from your standard PF is its complexity: Deadpool is composed of well over a hundred individual pieces; Spider-Man, by comparison, was thirteen. Deadpool has 15 separate pouches as well as separate straps, shoelaces, gunbelts, holsters, muzzle flash, exploding grenade, a giant missile with fire trail, etc. It has 5 separate clear elements. There is a fully sculpted fireball that you can see through the dome of the explosion blast wave, along with 25 separate pieces of flying smoke and rubble. Heck, we even have a string of spent shells ejecting from the side of his machine gun! And that’s just the standard version. We wanted the people who own this to have new things to discover in it for years to come. Could we have made it simpler? Sure, but we already released a Deadpool a few years ago that was as good as a museum pose version of this character can get. This time we wanted something completely insane for the hardcore Deadpool lovers out there (of which I am one). This piece was never intended for everyone. That’s a lot of money by anyone’s standards and I totally get why some of you who wanted this will not be getting it. But for those of you who have pulled the trigger on this, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Cheers!
Will

And the funny thing is idiots will still speculate, start polls, and other conspiracy theories in light of the truth...

As if XMs Thanos will compare to Sideshows Thanos....

One has a fricking throne and people still think they are entitled to a cheaper price tag

The price is a lot to cough up, especially for international buyers like myself. But I would 100% agree it is a complex piece. This was one of the justifications why the price bump! Who ever gets this congrats. I do believe this will be a grail in the end.

I recommend selling a piece that you aren't too fond with

to ease the blow

I mean I get it, it's a big price tag but in the past 2 years alone Sideshow has handed out $250 + worth of free reward points

A shame Sideshow didn't post a succinct version of this prior to initial price reveal. Should help reasonable people understand, and ease concerns for the future.

Thanks for posting that - and thanks to the dude that originally posted the explanation :wink1:

If what he said here is true then then the ES will be small, if its in the 1000's like the Spiderman PF then its purely damage control.

Yes I did pull the trigger on this piece and totally stoked about it! Thanks to Will who explained in detail about the statue . If it is too rich for you don't buy it ... that's cool...but like he said " not for everybody ...'nuff said!

50 000 000 people saw the movie in theatres

All they really need is 0.0001 of those people to like and buy this PF to justify a ES of 5000

I honestly think the total will be close to 7500

2500 EX

5000 Regs

You read the part about initial sales going far beyond their reasonable expectations, right?

I read your posting of Harbottle... Thanks for that! The ES would be great if small... but really doesn't matter to me If the production piece looks as good as the prototype.... awesome

This argument has never made any sense. You presume that every got the $250 when it's probably a small fraction. Most people don't have the time to stay up 24/7 to collect reward points for statues. Connecting higher prices with rewards given out makes even less sense. In the Harbottle (SP?) post he clearly lays out why they priced it that way and rewards had nothing to do with it.

The argument that doesn't make sense to me is why a collector community that purchases a piece for $300 and sells for $1200 on eBay complains about price constantly

I didn't spend 24-7 on the computer to acquire those points (it was relatively easy thanks to twitter notifications and social media)... and that's just counting the past three spooktacular events

If you've never resold a piece at a profit then maybe you should find other ways to cut down costs

It shouldn't be THAT hard.
