So since Obama goes to a church were the reverend makes somewhat racist statements does that mean Obama will raise taxes, start a bogus war, do nothing to prevent the rise of gas prices, let New Orleans drown, slowly kill the middle class and commit treason by leaking the name of a CIA agent working in secret for the US?

If Obama is a racist and he is elected president will he be the first racist in the White House? Will he be the last?

Nothing can change the service record of John McCain, but his knowledge of the war in Iraq is suspect at best. How can McCain end a war that he doesn't even understand?

:lol

I love comments like this. Do you really think you "understand" the war better than someone like John McCain or ANYONE who's been heavily involved Congress for the past several years, Republican, Democrat or otherwise?

This is an example of what I mean about folks letting their own emotional attachment and personal feelings get in the way of rationality.

These discussions will always be futile and a complete and utter waste of everyone's time. I'm out and done already. I'd rather get into debates with the Medikids. At least it provides some levity. :lol

Not to get into a debate or anything like that McCain has made some comments on the Sunni and Shia conflict that have really made me wonder how much he has been paying attention to this current war. Now I admit I do not know everything about the current conflict but I do consider myself an informed spectator. I read the paper, watch the news and listen to NPR, but sometimes I wish I didn't because if you look back on some of the decisions made concerning this war it really scares me.
I am confident that there are better days ahead, and Irish, if I have offended you I do apologize.

I would if I thought he made any sense and didn't just make decisions based on his own likes/dislikes.

Ah, see, people can joke around, but someone says something you don't like then you get ^^^^^y. This is why I got rid of this thread in the first place.

We have a situation where our nation is in the midst of a six year long war that has no end in sight, no plan for ending and no real goal to measure when its over.
We have upcoming crises in both Social Security and Medicare.
The economy is at its worst dip in over thirty years and its going to get worse.
The government is spending money like water and the Party which is suppose to be the fiscally responsible one is instead the one responsible for financial irresponsibility.
American is losing its manufacturing base and good paying jobs that go with it.
Customer service today means talking to somebody in India.
The planet is warming and arctic areas are melting.
Some urban schools graduate less than half of their kids.
The housing finance crisis is forcing millions of people out of their homes.

And the answer to all this is a campaign built around some loudmouth minister, off the cuff comments about bitterness, what some radical did in the 1960's and who is an elitist.

Makes you want to just say forget about the whole damn thing. Of course, maybe that is the goal.

Obama will raise taxes. He has stated that during the South Carolina debate. There is nothing he can do about the rising gas prices. You can thank the declining dollar for that and Clinton, Banks, greedy little house buyers, etc. Also, nobody let New Orleans drown. Where do you get your news? CNN?

Plus, you can't just pull out of Iraq. Can you imagine the problem you would have then. Bush screwed up by getting us in this war. We don't need anybody making it worse by just pulling out.

I'm just certain that mankind is doomed. We won't do a thing about the climate crisis, we will squabble and rant for years as the dollar keeps falling in value... and in a few decades when that comet comes back around, we'll get hit and everything on this planet will die except for a few cockroaches and some bacteria. We're ^^^^^*ed. :lol

We can all hope and dream for such a future. I know I do. :lecture :lol

Dude, it's sad... I used to have such faith in humanity and in this country. Now I just wanna move to Australia or the UK and wait for that meteor strike in the 2020's. :lol
