You actually emphasized my point. Cap PF at 850 ex, 1100 regular is in much greater demand than those above with lower quantity. Hulk PF of 1000 is in greater demand than any of those. There are no grails in SW 1/6, though it surprises me greatly that the Emperor ex is still available, especially with such a great ex. Carnage isn't even out yet, and I only ever saw Sabes as a greatly requested item.

Wolverine PF will be a future "grail". Another important point is character selection. I am sure Dead Pool and Juggernaut are SS "safety characters", meaning they know those will sell.

Carnage = future tense. 3rd rate character.

From an affiliate point of view I'm loving the new policy. Will keep the edition sizes from being artificially inflated too.

Don't agree with that strategy. It isn't just about popularity. B-listers will still sell if done right.

The original tangent wasn't about strategy, but about lower edition sizes not being a guarantee of producing grails.

Isn't it great to see the commission statements constantly surging up & down?

Yeah should help that. It's rough when you see sale after sale coming in and then it all get washed away.

well now we know they sure are going to limit the ex size with this new deposit deal which is good and bad. bad for those who dont wanna put down up front.

I actually think sideshow should have a "normal" cancellation policy which is charge a cancellation fee if someone cancels two weeks or a month prior to shipment. If someone buys and cancels before it's sold out, I don't think there should be a cancellation fee at all given that it's still on sale. I've cancelled pieces in the past but almost always with consideration, meaning quite a while prior to shipment because I just didn't like the sculpt after looking at it several times. Silver surfer with the intestinal hands was cancelled way before it shipped because they blew what could have been a grail piece. I know how last minute cancellations are big problems, I depend on people to show up on time for their appts and those that cancel last minute should pay for the inconvenience. Why penalize someone for cancelling 48 hrs after buying it. Even stores have a more liberal return policy. I think amazon is 30 days.

If SSC is willing to give us an accurate ES before an EX pre-sale, the deposit is no problem with me. I buy only what I like and having a fixed EX is a very good thing.

Include full specs, gallery and 360 before pre order and a cancel window a couple of months before shipping (or as late as possible with production) would make this a better deal. I mull over my orders for ages after I place it. Lately I have been cancelling in the first week or so after i place it when I make up my mind. 2 days and no pre-order info makes it tough to decide.
Still, this might bring back the old days of when pre-orders mattered, and adrenaline flowed newsletter time.
Oh that's right, edition sizes don't matter anymore!
Charge a deposit on edition sizes that can be changed anytime = scam.

Yeah, I'm still wondering why there was a jump in the edition size of the Aliens maquette, only to have them linger on the shelves forever. Duh.

Beast would've moved to sold out in seconds without this policy. It's interesting to be able to see true demand now that there is a NRD.

That may be due to the edition size bloating from the speculators, flippers and cancellers they are trying to circumvent with this.

Then will come the ton of cancellations leading to shipping time and 2nd chance for a while. I think he's doing ok for the costume, pose and scale, 150 sold so far if we are to believe the low quantity bar so he will probably sell out. At least this way they are guranteed the 200 deposits I guess, it may also push some concerned about low ES over the edge to get him.
