I thought the visual effects last season were unforgivable. Bad CG snakes, bad particle effect insect swarm, badly rendered corn silos for Kearney NE... This show needs to get some practile effects people. You can't do it all in a computer.

I've seen more graphic and realistic stuff on CSI and NCIS. I can't believe some of the stuff they get away with on network TV.

I agree. I thought the CGI stuff was laughable. Looked soooooo incredibly fake. The show lost major points with me because of that.

I'm sure since they did the "our audience is stupid and doesn't understand how clues work, so we will zoom in on this for 3 minutes to drive the point home" thing, the blood will come back later.

Dexter is a fairly grounded show.

But they need to buy at least one premium HD camera.

Hell, my 1000 dollar one looks better then that.

The new episode was pretty cool, nice minor villain/ sick **** for Dexter to tangle with. Loved the daydream sequences; as I was waiting in line at the Post this afternoon gave me a chuckle thinking about it.

Good episode. But my god, this show is unwatchable. Did they get their cameras from Best Buy? That end chase looked like a super low budget Sci-Fi movie of the week, or a cheap porno. Hideous.

This show used to have one of the most interesting visual palettes on TV.

Still, it's getting better. Glad they did away with Lewis.

It's defiantly digital. No question about it. It's got that really flat digital look, all crisp, and I think they're using a 60p setting or something.

Definitely not shot on 60p. It it is, it will look like video.

It is shot 24 frames per second, that I am sure.

Found this on IMDB. Turns out it has always been shot using HD camera, film are only used for high speed shots.

flat or not got nothing to do with it being digital or film, the grading and the lightning will decide that.

Also this show was shot with some of the best HD camera out there and if graded and lighted properly, you can't tell it is video.

Trust me, I used to do this for a living and even I can't tell what is shot digitally or film these days.

Film as a medium is really at the end of an era.

I can tell it looked terrible and un-Big Budget TV show like. If they used video, they messed something up IMO.

There's no way that final scene was 24p. It moved way too fast in the frame rate.

Yep this show used to have a good high budget look to it with good cinematography, lighting, etc. Now it looks tacky and uninspired. I've just decided to accept that this show is never gonna be like it used to and if you can accept that it's still kind of watchable. Its becoming predictable though. I knew that girl was gonna die and deb would start to accept dexters habbit.

Solid episode. I am glad annoying Loise is dead but the way he died really surprised me. Totally did not see that coming. I felt that the Russian mafia is a formidable scary remorseless character. Can't wait to see how he will deal with Dexter.

the finale will be epic, because doakes will come back and kick dexter's ass!

How do you know if Dexter just wont start seeing doakes like he sees Harry?
