So, I didn't check to see if this is the direct quote on this yet but.... is Scott Buck now saying that next season may not be the final season of Dexter?

I heard it being talked about on a few sites today.

Scott Buck: 'It might be the last. That hasn't been announced yet.'

EDIT: Even though I posted it in one of my responses, here's the quote by executive producer Sara Colleton from June of this year in TV Guide where they announced that Season 8 was "definitely" the end:

Since the show has been renewed for two more seasons, is this definitely the end?

Colleton: This was definite. We wanted to end it this year, but the network convinced us that it would be best to do it in two years. In some ways, this is a two-season series-ender. We have worked that out and know where it's going to end. Next year will definitely be the last year of Dexter. Absolutely.

And we are all just assuming that Hannah will be a factor next season, has it even been reported if they've signed the actress on for another season? It would make for a serious letdown if she didn't come back at all or if she could only do a few episodes and they go with a quick Loius style send off.

Apparently with Dexter's season seven finale setting records for Showtime, they are now hedging on this being the last season. Although they have stated that they have everything ready and finalized for an ending next season, apparently they are now working on a "just in case" due to the ramp up in ratings.

I really hope it ends next season. As much as I love Dexter they need to stop milking it. Just like Weeds and I'm sure that will happen with Homeland as well. Breaking Bad is about the only show that I have seen that isn't milking the show because of its popularity.

I just found and read the interview with Scott Buck........

That made the ending even stupider.

LaGuerta never "filed" the warrants, so that ends the paper trail??

:slap:banghead

That's not how search warrants work. She already has the warrants, which means she filed them, presented evidence and a judge saw it, said "Yes, this makes sense" and signed it.

Oh well, what's done is done. I'll probably just tune in for next season's finale to watch him get caught.

people give the excuse that they use torrents and download shows "just to watch them" but if that was the case they could just watch the episode online. No need to download anything. Then what I was saying is that, if you like a show so much you want to own it then just buy it, or download it I guess.... but I don't see the point of downloading something "just to watch it" when you can watch it online. I mean, I don't know. :dunno

I find this really interesting

THR: How do you envision the series ending? Does he have to get caught?
Buck: When you examine any serial killer, there are only so many endings you can have -- and serial killers don't generally end on a happy note.

Hopefully he means it when he says \they don't generally end on a happy note. As much as I love Dexter I don't think it should have a happy ending.

I actually hope he lives, and everyone he knows dies. And then he shoots himself. Would be poetic. He kills himself because he failed the code.

Warrants go "stale" in most states. Just because a judge signed it doesn't mean he gives a flying rats ass what happens to it as long as LaGuerta uses it appropriately. What it looked like the intent was that she hadn't presented it to the geeksquad to track the phone yet. :lecture

Actually that would be a great ending. Not the "Everyone else dies" but Dexter realizing he broke his own code and he deserves his own judgment, and killing himself.

I would assume most people download shows to watch them. I'm not sure what other purpose an episode of a TV show would serve.

I prefer the files to DVDs and such because it's cleaner - one box instead of shelves of cases, and easier - everything in one place. I've got plenty of space, plenty of bandwidth, and plenty of download speed, so this option is vastly preferable for me.

I guess. I am always afraid that files on a computer or on an external hard drive will erase or damage. It is a fear I always have.
Of course people come to me with the "Cds and Dvds can break too :pfft:"

but it is not the same thing. A dvd is still safer for me (or a CD) I always have this fear of losing the files.
that and the fact that it is illegal.

Well, they did kinda save Dexter from truly going bad.... I mean, he struggled over the idea of killing LaGuerta and dropped his knife and gave himself up to Debra. This puts him in a situation of the show ending with him being redeemed in some way. I think if he would've killed LaGuerta himself, we'd have gone into the next season more ready to see him fall for what he did.

The question is, can and should the writers finally allow Dexter to be seen as truly bad? They always seem to find a way to justify what he does in the fan's eyes or find a way to balance things. The main reason fans want to see Dexter caught or killed now is because they are mad he isn't following the code and killing more people. Most fans just wish he could go back to Season 1 Dexter. The only thing that really seems to piss the fans off now are the times when he messes up or acts human.

There is no "code" when it comes to serial killers. That's one of the biggest things Dexter learned this season.

Yeah, thought he kind of learned that when he realized killing child molesters is a fun activity. He was actually partly conflicted pre killing. :lecture
