PW: Forget the audience, where does Rita's death leave Dexter?
Julie: I hope it allows Dexter to really reveal and deal with his dark passenger. To become the monster he truly is. To stop fighting that monster he's kept under control. I'm excited to see what would happen if there were no strings.

I'm hoping that for Dexter next season.

Man, it's been 4 days since the finale and I still feel like someone I know actually died. :(

I guess I'd call that effectively riveting television. No other show has that kind of brass balls.

And it's not a "dream sequence". Julie is not returning to the show. Probably not even as a ghost or vision, ala Harry. "That's a series wrap for Julie" sounds pretty definitive: https://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/popwrap/julie_benz_b2mOlT1g2YCuVN4A2I9CuK

cool interview, thanks for posting that!

I'd like to see Rita return in a small dream sequence in Season 5, maybe just a part where Dexter is asleep or something and imagines everything was still like it used to be. I mean, things started out with Dexter using Rita as a cover to appear normal and he began to like the feeling of being with her and the kids. It'd be interesting to see him trying to adjust to his unmarried lifestyle again and that lifestyle being the one he has to fake and pretend to function in.

kinda trivial really but..............i wonder if he will kick deb out & move back into to his apartment? i doubt he would want to stay in the house where his wife died.

I don't think it'll be big enough for him and the 3 kids. Unless you think he's gonna pass them off to their grandparents.

yea i think we might see all 3 for maybe a few episodes and then shipped to the grandparents, or at the least his step kids. being a single father to three kids or at least the one could be a story line of a trying to do his "job" while doing his "job"....:angelsmil.......& could be do-able with the excellent writers they have, but.........for me personally i would like dexter to take an even darker turn minus the kids around.

Surely Dexter is going to be a suspect in Rita's murder? It was a very messy murder. Not clean like Trinity's. They will think he was trying to copycat Trinity's methods, but messed up. He won't have an alliby unless he tells them the truth about killing Trinity, but he wont do that.

The fact that Trinity won't complete the cycle of murders will surely add to the police being suspicious.

Who knows, perhaps the first couple of kills next season will be those to mirror trinity and take some suspicion off of himself.

Anybody see Julie Benz on The Soup, that was hilarious

The more I think about it, the more I think it was a mistake to kill Lila! Can you imagine Lila coming back in season 5 now that Dex is single! That would have been an interesting bit of story, between love and hate and nobody to steer Dex on the right path...

That would be interesting to see - Dexter searches out a female serial killer so he can recreate the "suicide" from the Trinity killings. The cycle has already been messed up with the boy escaping - so the cops won't be too put off by some variations in the rest of the cycle.

I'm currently listening to the first book on audio and just finished watching the 1st season again. The end of season 1 sets up a lot of things that pay off in season 2 - Doakes, La Guerta's demotion, Rita suspecting Dexter. So I think they've done the same thing with Season 4 - especially Deb finding out about Dexter - she's practically put together that Dexter was Ice Truck's brother - she almost has to find out about his hobby in season 5.

That could possibly happen. They said the day it happens would probably mean the end of the series and two weeks ago, I read an interview of MC Hall saying that, fo him, this series couldn't go on endlessly and that the next season, in his point of view, should be the last one, so...

Just finished the first book. The first season is SO much better than the book. The characters are far, far more developed and the reveal about the Ice Truck Killer (or Tamiami Killer in the book) is handled so much better in the show.

The second book is much better! The third one is a total mess and the Fourth is probably the best so far, though the end is bad!...

Yea, the whole
demonic presence
storyline for the 3rd book was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dumb. I think Lindsay found that out from readers and took it out, very glad he did that.

Agreed. Dexter is alot less likeable in the books. He's alot more sarcastic and sociopathic. The best part about the books is Dr. Danco, I like him better than the Trinity Killer.

Just read an interesting piece of news on EW online.
Julie Benz has just signed for a recurring role (at least 3 ep so far) on Desperate Housewives. She'll be playing a stripper!!!!! :D
I think she would be great in that series! I hope she'll stay more than that! She would be a perfect replacement for Nicolette Sheridan!

I saw her in a Lifetime movie yesterday, part of their "Bltches in Peril" week.

She was hot.
