Agreed. Especially when he went into that soft shoe song-and-dance routine while his goons tried to take down Gerard Butler. Surreal. :google

Yeah, and the whole Bruce Lee thing was crazy too! He was in insane shape too, my wife swears he had painted on abs :lol

I never saw Six Feet Under, the only other time I remember seeing MCH in anything other than Dexter was the cop he played in Paycheck and he looked and sounded completely different in that role than as Dexter.

He seemed to switch in and out of a heavy fake civil war era southern accent in Gamer. It's like he was instinctively switching back to the Dexter voice randomly.

Man, the accents were all over the place in that movie. I think the best line is during the InMovie experience blu-ray option, where the movie's writers talk about how they spent money on a dialect coach for Gerard Butler, to "beat the Scottish out of him". They then admit that the dialect coach was probably overpaid when you consider the finished product. :lol

Somebody sent me a video of a Munny Dexter

Season 5 news

Season 5's main story has been decided
"Dexter" hit the 27th Annual William S. Paley Festival Thursday (Mar. 4) night and, though there wasn't much information revealed about the highly anticipated fifth season, we did manage to glean a few morsels of intel from executive producer Sara Colleton.

Seems the writing staff has just recently broken the main story for "Dexter"'s fifth year and they're not at all nervous about how it will be received. "We've spent the last month working out season 5," Colleton says in the clip below. "And we love Season 5 and we think the audience is going to love it just as much. It's great."

Now, whether or not Dex will get custody of not only baby Harrison but Rita's (Julie Benz) two kids as well -- now that she's out of the picture -- remains to be seen. What we did learn, however, is it's definitely something that's been discussed and will be addressed as soon as the show returns.

Colleton says we won't be leaping very far forward in time. Last we saw Dex, he had just discovered his wife in a bathtub of blood. When we see him next, he'll be dealing with the fallout from her death. "All [the writers] uniformly felt that it would be a cheat to jump ahead," she explains. "Everyone -- Dexter and the audience -- got a kick in the gut [with] the very last episode. And so, to not have him process that and allow his catharsis and the audience['s catharsis] is a cheat. And the trick is to make it fascinating and make it unique and make it "Dexter"-ish and I think we have."

Apparently some of that fascination will revolve around Dexter's self-revelation. Though Dex has always felt that he's been honest with himself, it seems his inner voice has been hiding a few things.

Also, be prepared to see Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) get very protective of her brother during this time.

What else?

Well, we asked Colleton whether or not this season's "big bad" will be played by a recognizable name a la John Lithgow in Season 4.

Watch the video to hear her answer...

I was there and that article makes a lot of assumptions.

Basically the gist of it was that NOTHING had been decided, and if it had they weren't telling us. I'm sure there will be a big bad, there has been every season and the direction they go to explore Dexter's character is always reflected in the big bad - whether it is Dexter's family identity with the Ice Truck Killer, his desire to have a true friend with Miquel or his questioning whether he can be a family man and still serve the dark passenger.

They did say that it would start up right where it left off with Dex dealing with Rita's death. And Michael made the comment "he's certainly in some hot water" implying that Dex will be suspected for the murder.

It was a great panel and Michael C. Hall was much more personable than I've seen him at the SDCC panels. He got a standing ovation when he came in - a first for any Paley event - and he just shrugged and kind of pointed to his knit cap as if to say - aww, you're just applauding cause I'm sick". Everyone was great, although I was disappointed to learn that Clyde Phillips is not going to be a part of the 5th season. They didn't talk about who would be show runner, but I have to assume it's Scott Buck who was the only other writing producer on the panel.

Not sure it's been posted and too busy to check the other pages. Sorry if it's a repost...

An interview about season 5:

Still haunted by the sight of Rita’s lifeless, bloody corpse floating in her and Dexter’s bathtub? Then this next story is going to dredge up a lot of bad memories for you. Prior to last night’s PaleyFest ‘10 event honoring Dexter, exec producer Sara Colleton took a few minutes to answer all of my burning questions about the Showtime drama’s highly-anticipated fifth season (slated to premiere in September). Needless to say, Rita’s horrifying murder will have enormous implications for America’s most beloved serial killer. Beware, major spoilers…

Season 5 will pick up right where season 4 left off.
“We have spent the last month sitting around, talking and really debating how best to deal with the aftermath of [Rita's death]. We uniformly decided that we don’t want to jump ahead. We need to see Dexter go through the process that we’d all have to go through if such a horrible thing had happened to us. We need to see him doing everything from the big emotional things like grieving the loss, to the mundane things like arranging a funeral, getting the kids dressed, and all the other things that are usually done for men because their wives or mothers do them. They have no idea how to handle all of these things. As we saw, Rita was really the caretaker of their baby. It would be cheating the audience of their catharsis to not see Dexter go through that mourning period and see how it affects him or to not see him dealing with the blowback of what he essentially caused. So we will not jump to Harrison as a 5 year old yet.”

Season 5 may not feature a Trinity-esque villain.
“John Lithgow is a tough act to follow. If there was ever a year that we could take a step back from the Big Bad formula and go deeper into Dexter and his psychology, this would be that year. That said, Dexter has a dark passenger that won’t go away no matter how much he yearns to be normal. That rears up and needs to be dealt with. He may even dive deeper after this traumatic loss of Rita. We are working on a way that feels original and fresh and unique to what he has just gone through. It cannot be the way it has been before. In [Season 1], he was terrified of any kind of intimacy because intimacy equaled being discovered. Then he slowly realized he had a need to be known and he set up a family and tried the best he could to balance it all. And now, he sees what being known brings him and he had it ripped out from underneath him suddenly and that will have some affect on him.”

Dexter will remain single… for now.
“Anything is possible, but I don’t think Dexter will be in the mood for dating or love anytime soon. That’s not even on our radar right now. He very much loved Rita and they were in a good place right before she was killed so that wound will take quite some time to heal.”

Michael C. Hall kicked cancer’s ass.
“Michael’s in full remission. I just had a three-hour breakfast with him this morning. He’s in great shape and is getting his energy back. We are all very excited to get back to work. The guy is incredibly courageous and worked hard all through last season despite being sick. He’s an amazing human being and actor. It was scary, but the show will go on. We start shooting in late April or May, which is usual. We will not have to stall production.” (Reporting by Carrie Bell)

Bit late to the table with this I know. I have just finished watching series 4 and OMG. I already knew about Ritas death but had no info on how she was killed. It was a brave, bold, and very intelligent end to the series IMO and I can't wait to see how the writers get themselves out of the massive hole they made for themselves. This show is great and I feel like I have withdrawel symptoms when I'm not watching it.

I think every Dexter fan here is the same and the wait for the new season is brutal. :(

Man, what a long wait for each new season!!

That is by far the worst part.

With Rita gone, it'll be interesting to see if Dexter goes back to his old self or to see if he's been changed forever....

The writers have their work cut out for them, last season will be hard to follow.

The new issue of Entertainment Weekly spills some minor beans about the upcoming season...mainly that it picks up seconds where the last season left off. Dexter will also be responsible for Astor, Cody, and Harrison and convinces Debrah to let them move in with her. Also, the FBI will have their eye on Dex as a prime suspect in Rita's death. I don't remember any more details, but I think those were the biggest points.

Even though Dexter didn't kill Rita it would be great to have the FBI trully believe that he did. At the same time have a good actor to play the main agent on his case trailing and questioning him. Also have him/her finding loads of problems with Dexter's aliby for not being her killer. Mainly because Dexter can't tell the truth about what he really was doing that day. Also it might bring some good tense interaction scenes between the two of them.

I'm thinking that possibly some portion of the new season might have Dexter looking for someone to be the fall guy for Rita's murder. So as to get him off the suspect list seeing as he has already
killed and disposed of Trinity
.

I don't know, he already did that with Doakes with the BHB....I think the writers are cleverer than that to just rehash a plot

It could be looked as a rehash, but as far as I remember Dexter never planned for Doakes to get the blame for being the BHB. It was just pure luck that a sequence of events played out the way they did and Doakes got the blame.

I could be wrong though. I haven't seen it since it was first aired.

you guys read this!!!!!!!:horror

Exclusive: 'Dexter' resurrects Julie Benz
by Michael Ausiello
Categories: Dexter, Scoop
Image Credit: Randy Tepper/ShowtimeNow this is what I call a killer twist: Julie Benz is returning to Dexter — as Rita!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Benz — whose onscreen murder at the hands of the Trinity Killer was deemed by EW.com to be the most shocking death in TV history — has signed on to reprise her role as Dexter’s late bride in the first episode of season 5 (debuting this fall).

What? How? Why? Keep reading for answers to those three questions and more…

Specific details of Rita’s “resurrection” are being kept under wraps, but I’m told she is not coming back from the dead. New showrunner/executive producer Chip Johannessen also rules out a spectral visit a la Dexter’s late pa, Harry. “We’re not going to do some ghostly thing with her,” he says. Adds fellow exec producer Sara Colleton: “We reserve those for Harry. If you have too many things like that it becomes gimmicky.”

So how exactly will Benz — who will shoot her Dexter episode before starting work on her new ABC drama, No Ordinary Family — be revived? A Showtime rep would only add that the presence of Rita will “help Dexter deal with his newfound feelings of loss and grief — emotions he has never really felt before.”

Color me stumped! Think you have it figured out? Hit the comments with your theories!

... and yet another one... :)

Exclusive: 'Dexter' wooing Julia Stiles
by Michael Ausiello
Categories: Dexter, News, Scoop
Image Credit: Janet Mayer/PR Photos; David Studarus/ShowtimeThis just in: I’ve got another killer Dexter scoop! (Let me know when that play on words starts to get old. Better yet, don’t.)

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Julia Stiles is in advanced talks to play a major, top-secret role in the show’s upcoming fifth season.

What role, you ask? No idea. But based on what new showrunner Chip Johannessen told me a few weeks back, it’s safe to say Stiles won’t be following in the footsteps of last season’s very scary guest star, John Lithgow.

“We’re not going to have a single Big Bad this season,” revealed Johannessen. “We don’t want to try and top John Lithgow, so we’re going to change up the forces that Dexter’s going to be dealing with.”

Given that the new season picks up immediately following the death of Rita, it’s also unlikely Stiles will be coming in as a love interest for Michael C. Hall’s grieving widower. Maybe she’s playing Rita’s long-lost sister. Or her cousin once removed. The only thing I know for sure is that the Dexter gig would mark Stiles’ first major foray into television. Smart first step, if you ask me.

Thoughts? Theories? Hit the comments!

Don't really like Stiles, but it sounds interesting...

I just hope they bring up the point that Rita was married 2 times previously, but only told Dexter about 1 of them. Been waiting for that payoff for quite some time
