yeah -- great show -- the books are really good as well -- season 1 was pretty faithful to the first novel, but the new season is pretty much it's own entity -- i like them both pretty much equally, except for the latest book -- it kinda went off the somewhat grounded in reality premise that the others & the show maintains -- the doakes/ dex relationship is pretty close to the novels & it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out on the show.

oh, and lila is hot :D

I had heard that the first season is like the books, except for the ending with the ice truck killer. Is there a second "series" of books that I could read?

yeah, the ending for the show was quite different from the novel -- there are 3 books in the series:

darkly dreaming dexter -- pretty much the premise fro season 1

dearly devoted dexter -- the second in the series -- hilarious! the show has done an amazing job capturing lindsay's humor -- the bits where dexter narrates are fantastic!

dexter in the dark -- kinda disappointing -- lindsay had a pretty great set up after the second book & this one kind of tangents & just wasn't as good as the first 2 imho

the first 2 are definitely worth checking out if you like the show though!

Sounds like it would still be on Showtime as well but man that would kill some of the really good stuff.

It sounds like they're saying that episodes shown on Showtime would be edited for network television. Like the Sopranos is for A&E. It wouldn't be new episodes.

Only 2 episodes left. :monkey2

At least it'll be back for a third season.

I know. Sucks as its one of the few shows I watch on TV. Its a nice fun way to end my week and get going into the next.

Can't wait to see where they take this next season.

It sounds like it isn't moving to CBS from Showtime but the episodes of the series would be edited for network TV and shown if the strike continues for awhile. It's not leaving Showtime, so there is nothing to worry about.

Good. If Dexter ever did move to network TV it would not be half as good imo. Missed the last episode, but I'll be watching it Tuesday. I love On Demand. :) And I love my boss for having it so I can watch this show. :rock :rock

For me, it's a good thing that it will be shown on network TV. None of my friends watch it since they don't have Showtime. I'm tired of explaining it to those who only watched it during Showtime's free weekend.

It's a great show and I look forward to the last episodes.

Awesome way to end the season. Tied up a lot of things and I loved seeing Dokes getting blown up was great.

You expecting overly elaborate action sequences? JK.

I personally liked it all. It was a very good season that may rival the first.

No, I just never felt any tension or was surprised/shocked by anything that happened.
