wow i didnt even notice this one was made....weird anyway i prefer the first one much more then this... much more iconic

I agree with Daikk & CW here. That 1st Arc Reactor was so much better than this.

I've got this on preorder somewhere. I do have the first one as well, which I think looks much more iconic, but the completist in me needs this one as well. What I like about this version is that it will be made out of machined aluminum, even the stand.

It does appear cheap but they say it's machined aluminum, which I find odd b/c the specs have it listed as weighing just 1 pound :monkey1

Just chiming in to say that I agree with everyone that the first one looks much better than this.

Circular arc reactor all the way....that's why I use it as my avatar pic. ;)

well, why dont we just wait & see? its not the product direct photos on the web, remember, pictures dont do this product justice :)

:lol

I hope you're right. I don't have any reactors and I think it would be a nice addition to my IM line, but tbh the 1st reactor is my fave so this one would have to be mind blowing for me to fork over the dough for it and based on the specs listed on the SSC site it does appear teeny tiny :monkey1

Just got this in and I have to say I am very disappointed with the result. From the cheap packing to the even cheaper materials used to make it. The reactor is made from plastic and isn't finished very well and the base is metal but I don't think it is machined aluminium as stated as it has been painted over, if it was machined aluminium you wouldn't have to paint it IMO. The plastic part where the LED's sit is not clear like the proto but white plastic which just shows the light from the LED's when it is turned on. I was so looking forward to this but what a let down.

Here are some quick pics

Unless you are a hardcore fan and this is a must, I would stay well clear and save your money.

I see what you're saying. It does look rather flimsy.
Actually doesn't look metal.

I do like what the LEDs are doing on the inside, creating those circular patterns around the circumference.

Does this thing feel about 1 pound?

I pre-ordered the arc reactor as well and it does look disappointing . I don't really mind paying for something if it is authentic, but it seems a lot of money for what you are getting. I agree the old reactor is more "iconic"!
