Yeah, it does. Bob Iger himself, said "We’re also looking forward to expanding the Marvel cinematic universe to include X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool and reuniting all of the Star Wars movies ever made under one roof, which opens new opportunities for that franchise."

But fox dosn't own the Fantastic four. Never have, they simply licensed the rights periodically from Constantine films. Same company that made the Roger Corman version that was never released.

Or did they buy it from Constantine films and no one told me?
It's possible Bob Iger misspoke, or they've worked out something behind the scenes. Or they just plan to do what Fox was already doing, i guess.

While I agree with that. Diverse thinking wasn't working. It was long overdue for a change.

The problem is that people are just thinking about their comic book heroes and franchises, which is cool and all, but this has much bigger implications.
The massive clout Disney gets now to dictate what, when, how and for how long is shown in which theatres; how much of the revenue they have to give Disney, etc, is just scary.
If George Lucas alone could force cinemas to show SW for X amount of weeks, at X amount of showings each day, Disney can just drown out competition by flooding cinemas with their family-friendly fare, making it even harder for other studios or independent film-makers to get their non-family-friendly, non-franchise-driven movies out.
And that is, believe it or not, bad for movies, and bad for the industry.

And if that were not enough, for liberal minded individuals such as myself, I shudder to think what the cronies at Fox News will do with all that money lining their pockets to further their far right-wing agendas...

No Disney got it sorted out

They own the F4

Constantine Films? Has a clause in the contract that states they must release a F4 movie in 7 years

The last one tanked so I think they were in breach of the contract with Marvel

Theaters are dying, maybe this will kill it completely, good riddance
If anything disney might find a way to fix movie theaters and create a better system.

I think the best thing to come out of this is that we will finally get rid of Bryan Singer and the "Singerverse" X-films. We can finally get more accurate portrayal of the characters. Logan was the perfect finale for that universe.

One of the major downsides is that this will probably result in less superhero films a year, but that's not too bad since superhero movie fatigue was already upon us.

Brian Singer's career is over. He disappeared from filming the Freddy Mercury bio and was fired. Bad Hat Harry offices were evicted from the Fox lot. There's stories out there about him harassing and having inappropriate relationships. He's officially radioactive, no studio will go near him.
