Wow there has been a lot of talk on this issue already. I think this is just delicious! I'm super excited for the making of more films and in collaboration with Disney could possibly be the best thing for the SW franchise. I'm just curious if they will follow the EU and continue with the Thrawn trilogy or go off on their own tangent. Personal Thrawn is my favorite EU character so I would love this. To do the books justice they would have to make each film like three hours long. :yess:

I think there is so much material out there, that they're probably going to use some of it. I think Jaina, Jason and Anakin are the best way to continue this. Having Luke, Han and Leia in smaller, but significant, roles.

While I'd love the Thrawn trilogy, it wouldn't work with the ol actors. Something like the New Jedi Order books, even though I'm not a big fan of them, might.

"The film will continue the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond Return of the Jedi.Episode VII is expected to be an entirely original story"

we have clone wars which extension of the prequel.
hopefully it will be an awe, and no annoying character. and this original story can expand to another story. and please dont ****ed up like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was.

cristhoper nolan , Ridley Scott jj abrams, for starwars?

David Fincher for sw will be interesting.

Give Tarantino a crack at a Boba Fett movie ;)

I for one think the EU is out of control and has no business in future films. That's just me. I would like and I'm sure we will get something original.

I'm an OT fan, I grew up with it, and PT was a disappointment for me in most cases. Not sure what to think about the Disney future of Star Wars. Hope it will be ok, but even if it goes belly up, I still have my OT.

I am optimistic I think Disney knows how to make a good movie and probably has learned a lot from the prequel trilogy.

Forgot about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I think everyone learned from Jar Jar so I am guessing that should not be an issue.

Give me another Nolan triology this one star wars and we could have some great movies

Directors wish list.
Peter Jackson
Guillermo del Toro
JJ Abrams
Frank Darabont
Brad Bird
Josh Whedon

Nolan would be terrible for Star wars, he will try to make star wars realistic and make it a drama instead of a Sci fi adventure, this is too fantastical for him to do.

What about Stephen Speilberg?

Spielberg is a obvious choice but I don't think he would be interested without George.

:exactly:

Correct, and this is my reasoning. Looking at his current work, Star Wars just would not fit. The films have always had a sense of humour and Nolan's doesn't fit that bracket in my opinion.

This is also why I don't like Whedon for the job either. He's encourage his own kind of dialogue and humour which wouldn't work for Star Wars.
I didn't like Avengers much.

I think Abrahms would do a great job at it. He had that sort of Spielberg touch with Super 8 which could work for SW. But because of Trek it won't happen.

I think there's one person we can all agree on not to direct. Tim Burton. I love the guy's films but it doesn't fit the mold. He does a lot of Disney stuff and should stay well away from Star Wars.

I think this merger is a good fit. Disney and lucasfilm already partnered up to have a successful theme park ride and merchandise for over twenty years.

And wasn't Pixar origanally a division of Lucasfilm, then sold to apple who then partnered up with Disney?

In a way I think this transaction was always in the cards. I hope it breathes new life into the franchise and as long as the new films don't fall flat like John Carter, it should be interesting.

I don't think George will be too far from the world he created. He's staying on as a creative consultant. I think the only difference in his roll will be someone can actually say no when he brings ideas like Jar Jar to the table. ;)

My vote is for Brad Bird to direct!
