I'd love to hear from Billy B I'll be getting a real time outfit for the 6th later this week and I'd love a head to go with it. I'd also love the 11th's head to go with that Amy I made. You could actually make a Cushing Doctor with some adjustments to a Tarkin sculpt.

Cool, can't wait to see some pics of that. I'm still waiting on my 6th Doctor outfit from Chad at SMcG. He's gone all radio silence on me, so I have no idea what's going on there. :gah:

If it makes you feel any better (your saying what you did made me feel better) he's been radio silent on me for about two months now too, not having gotten back to me on two different quotes.

Well the realtime outfit isn't from SMG, it's from A.J.'s I heard from SMG earlier in the month, when they finally got back to me. But by that time I couldn't afford to spend anymore. They do good work and I hope to use them again in the future, but I think they may have taken on a few too many jobs and that's keeping them busy.

I don't mind delays, that's just comes with the territory when you're having custom work done, but take two minutes to shoot me an email and let me know what's going on. It's the lack of communication that causes frustration, not the waiting. I've gotten several pieces from Amy Jones in the time I've been wating on my 6th Doctor costume, and I've never had to wait more than a day to hear back from her. I don't know, I guess I'l hear from him when I hear from him. :dunno

Any update on these heads?

Yes sir! Because these are digitally made the way they were going to be made before was horrendously long- ship from UK to printer in US, ship back to UK, be sanded, ship back to US to cast, ship back to UK to be shipped off.

Nuts, right? Obviously we needed to refine that process and make improvements (because with all that shipping what's left for profit?).

Right now the two Pat heads have been printed and shipped off to our very own Inked Dalek who will handling the sanding and casting from now on. He's in Canada so it takes two weeks for anything to get to him (everything there is delivered by Moose). :)

Future heads will go straight from being printed in the US directly to Inked Dalek who will sand, cast, and mail and should be much faster. (Forgive our growing pains!).
-Rick :)

PS- For anyone who is interested, check out Seans newest 1:6 head here.

I kinda wondered how Sean was making any money on the deal with all of that shipping back and forth.

Great work on the heads. They are fantastic. I've been following progress on GB. It's very interesting to see this process, whic I've never really seen done before.

bumpo for info

Whoops! I updated the Sideshow Doctor Who group thread on this yesterday but forgot to update the thread out here in "general population"!

"Just wanted to update and say our very own resident west-side Hoser, Inked Dalek (Jay if you're nasty), is nearly finished with the sanding on both versions of the Pat heads and if plans hold true the Pat heads will both begin getting cast next week and if they are ready, mass cast.

Besides the long mailing process to multiple people (that has now been eliminated), there was a big learning curve involved here with Jay needing to figure out how the heck to sand and fill a computer printed head with "steps" that he's figured out the process for now, so subsequent heads won't take him this long to prep (though it is a complicated process).

On an off-Pat, Off-Doctor Who topic note, the next two Warriors Gate Productions heads are also on their way to Jay to be prepped after being printed (the first two heads in our HORROR line, Sookie from True Blood and something else which tangentially may appeal to Who fans).

Lastly, Jamie has been sculpted, Zoe is just about finished, and we'll reveal them both together once the Pats have shipped. :)

Here we go, the first pics of the printed, sanded, FINISHED Troughton heads!!! :hi5: Jay will begin molding and casting them any day now for the people that have already ordered.

Because of the changes in the process for how these were made (having Inked Dalek cast them instead of the printer) our heads will no longer be available only by pre-order but will remain available to be ordered as people need them which is how we'd prefer it, so that's a positive.

Please PM sdabbs here on the forum if interested. :)

UPDATE!

All the Pat heads currently ordered have been cast and will be shipped off by the end of the week! :yess: Keep in mind, they are coming by courier moose from Canada and take slightly longer to arrive than if sent by a more organized mail system. :lol

The Pat heads are cast and on their way, so I wanted to take a moment and show off the Zoe head! Hope you like. :)
(The actual version will have no neck.)

Zoe is looking GOOD!

Will the hair be 2 seperate parts and cast in a softer material or is it all one piece?

I don't think there's anything prohibitive in her sculpt to keep her from being cast as a single piece.

Sean's been on vacation so hasn't gotten around to finishing Jamie who's mostly completed. Hopefully soon!

Not a problem, I just wondered as I knew from my brief of experience of casting that longer hair is sometimes problematic.

Sculpt looks good I liked troughton as the doctor but davison was the one I watched most and remember.
Baker was the nuttiest and my favourtite I think is there any customs of him would like to see if so?
