I am planning on taking orders to do a group commission for a Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) head, his companion Jaime McCrimmon (Frazier Hines), and a grim season 15 Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) head and a Leela, from Ada, an awesome sculptor in China I really like.

I am posting to get others interested in on this with me to get a big group order going and bring the commission prices down by commissioning it together. The more we get, the cheaper it will be for everyone. They offer painted heads for only $10 dollars more for those who would like them. (I am also doing Phantasm and Supernatural heads in the horror threads as well. This is final round of commissions right now).

Here is an example of their jaw-dropping work and you can see why I want them to do it:

I'd be intrested depending on the final quality. Do you know of anyone who could make the attire for the Tom Baker figure as it's pretty unique looking and not really something that can be substituted with clothing from existing figures.

Hi there.

Dont want to take away orders from the fantastic Ada but I am working on all 9 original Doctors at the moment.

Not sure if you have seen my thread in the custom section but so far I have currently sculpted 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th. I am jsut starting 8. I have also done a captain Jack.

7th 4th and Jack are ready to cast and I am jsut waiting for a new batch of silicone to make the moulds for the rest.

Here are the pics of them all so far.

Oh and regarding costumes. My Mother is a professional seamstress and is currently working on sets of clothings for the 2nd and third Doctors and will be more than happy to take on new commisions.

Here is a Peter Cushing costume she recently finished for a friend.

Dean,
If your Mom could do a 4th Doctor costume from Season 18 (or any other season) I'd be most intrested. Regarding your sculpts I sent you an e-mail about purchasing casts of your 3rd Doctor and Rose Tyler heads last week.

COunt me in if we can get it down that low. Those are fantastic sculpts.

I am planning on commissioning a Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) head, his companion Jaime McCrimmon (Frazier Hines), and a season 18 Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) head, where he looked older and VERY grim, from an awesome sculptor in China I really like.

No offence Dean, but your work doesn't come close to Ada's. Of the four Doctors shown, only Pertwee looks anything like the actual actor, and even then only in an extremely caricatured way. The rest of them look nothing like the actors - only their fairly distinctive hairstyles give you any clue to who they're meant to be.

Sorry to be so harsh, but you do hawk your customs around a lot, and they just aren't very good. No one would mind if you created them for your own pleasure, but you obviously think you can make money out of work that is very sub-standard. I think Shatner wants some decent headsculpts made, and that's why he was annoyed when you started advertising in his thread.

As for Shatner's idea, I think it's great! I'm not interested personally, but I can't wait to see the results. I certainly think he's the right person to organise this.

If you get enough people in, I'm down for a 2nd and 4th Doctor sculpt.
I've been dying to do a Season 18 Tom!! Some of the best episodes made.
One request, please no "smiling and big eyed" Tom. I want a serious sculpt.
What about adding a 5th Doctor (Peter Davison) to the selection?

Awesome BillyB! Glad to have you onboard. I'm sure we'll get enough people.

The Tom will definitely be serious. For me, that grim mood was the very essence of his season 18 character. (and Warriors Gate is my favorite Who story EVER!) Plus, I like my action figures to look concerned and in danger!

As far as a Davison commission goes, this first round of commissions here is our innagural run. Right now, I have three commission threads going. One for Doctor Who, one for the Phantasm movies, and one for Supernatural. All have been posted up only a week (the Doctor Who one less) and they are all doing really well response wise, which is terrific (but it also means the plate is pretty full for wanting to take on any more commissions at the moment too).

Once this first "round" of them is over and sculpted, though, why stop? ;)

This is just hypothetical babbling, since it really is pointless to talk a ways off, but I like doing things in sets, so since we have two Troughton era characters being done now (Second Doctor and Jamie), next round I would like to do a Troughton enemy--- an Invasion Cyberman (with the chest plate and hoses), maybe made to go on a Sideshow Kanamit Twilight Zone 14" figure? (because back them, they grew the Cybermen big!). There's an AMAZING sculptor on Outpost Gallifrey I want to talk to about doing the Cybermen named Daryl Joyce.

Then maybe a Romana 2 to go with season 18 Tom, and a Tom baddie? That way we all have sets of those eras, you know? The if we went to davison next, we'd do three from his era, Him, Ainley Master, and a companion, etc and so on.

Realistically, since the more people we have in on it, the cheaper it gets, future waves would hopefully be even cheaper as people jump on having seen what we ordered this time.

I think you might have wires crossed regarding Daryl. I think you are thinking of Neil75 who is the sculptor. Daryl is a 2D artist who designs the box packaging for Neils AMAZING Doctor Who busts. Unless of course Daryl has started doing sculpture.

But If its the chap who does the amazing Dr Who busts his name is Neil. He is a good friend of mine and probably one of the best sculptors going.

all the best. Dean :D

Oh same here! I'm sick to death of 'bug eyed grinning like an idiot Tom'' that we've got uptil now. I have to say I wasn't all that keen on the Product Enterprises prototype when they first released images of it. Yes it looked like him, but the expression was just far too manic for my liking.

I'd personally like to see an expression somewhere along the lines of what my friend sculpted for this bust years back. Serious and thoughtful.

I think Ada will do wonders with this commission too. Do you need any good reference photos to send her? I have a fair amount of stuff that I could post up if you do.

I don't mind a grinning Fourth Doctor likeness but I'll have one of those when the Product Enterprises statue comes out so I'd be OK with a serious expression.

Uh...Yes (laugh!), I meant Neil75. :monkey1 (I shouldn't be allowed to type on the computer when I'm tired the same way grandpa isn't allowed to touch the remote control for the TV anymore!) :D
Thanks Dean!

I think I've seen that before on Outpost Gallifrey. VERY nice! Didn't that end up being made for a garden statue or something unusual like that with some of the other Doctors heads? It's would look like the Masters garden! (mental image of of Ainley walking through severed head garden).

Thanks for the offer of reference, I think I'm good though. Tragical History Tour has always been an invaluable resource for ref!

It's only a small bust sized thing, not really suitable as a garden statue. I just left it out of my garden as I was running out of space to keep thing!

Well if you do end up wanting any give us a shout as I have copies of a large selection of old BBC slides at home that I bought from the BBC archives years ago, and which I could scan in for you.

BODY SUGGESTIONS! Doing Doctor Who in scale!

Over in the "Phantasm" thread, Mookeylama suggested the Dragon USC body who's about a half an inch taller than a normal Dragon for the Tall Man. Not impressive enough for the Tall Man, but an AWESOME body to make your Tom taller than your other 1:6 figures!!! Cool idea!

https://www.hobbybuy.com/us/prodi.asp?pid=DRF73112

Then, just running on this tangent, you can always use a Sideshow short body, like a "Buffy" Oz, for Pat and a 14" Kanamit Twilight Zone body as previously mentioned for the Cybermen.

I don't have the USC body yet, but heres the 14 inch Kanamit with an OZ and a standard sized 1:6 figure next to each other for size comparison! :)

I'm not too fussy about what body is used as long as it's not the Buck.
