Glad you feel that way, Brendan, because I have a few more I just recieved... of the FINISHED VERSION! Boo haa!!!!!!!!!

Alright, so here's the deal. Tom probably won't be getting sent 'till Ada sculpts Leela and Bishop. That gives people a few more weeks to place orders with me for him.
The price is $35 a head, +$5 for shipping, + another $10 if you want him painted by her.
For the newcomers, this is a group commission. We are all commissioning this together. That price includes a part of the cost to hire the sculptpr to make it. She DOES sell them on E-bay when she is done a little cheaper (obviously, without the commission charge she charged us), but if you buy them through E-bay, you're not contributing to the creation of getting the head made.

Contributing to the creation of the head ensures there will be other heads, and we want other Doctor Who heads, don't we?

Next down the pike is Leela, Sarah Jane, the Second Doctor and Jamie. Beyond that the skies the limit, but only if people contribute. I can't afford to pay her commission fees myself. Without your help the project stops after a few heads.

Looks excellent Rick,the facial expression has turned out out very well and it will make a nice contrast with the manic look of the Iconic Replicas statue.
Can't wait to see Leela!!!

Okay, I just got back from work to find pics of Leela! Woo Hoo!
This is her first pass at it, so no one needs to be upset since she's not dead-on yet. Here is where we tell her what adjustments need to be made on it to get her dead-on

Right now, it's a VERY well sculpted head that doesn't look much like Louise Jameson, but is nice. This is actually a plus because normally female sculpts are Ada's weaker area.

Odd note: Pics 2 and 3 almost look like Lalla Ward(?). This isn't terrible. I knew Leela would be hard to do. She has a lack of strong features for an artist to latch on to. However, I now need to send her a list of what to change to improve the likeness. I only just got home and obviously wanted to pass this on. When I send her changes, I send photos to show what I mean.

Once I know what I'm going to say, I'll post it on here too. Thoughts?

Doctor Who sculpt Ada Commission thread

ANNOUNCEMENT:

VikkiTX, seamstress extrordinaire from of the FABRIC OF TIME AND SPACE and in particular, a Doctor Who fangirl seamstress (unfortunately out of the seamstress for hire biz now that she's finished college) has a single remnant from her 1:6 Doctor Who costuming days left over (she'd sew costumes in multiples) that she's putting up here for the commissioning cause:
a super detailed, highly intricate 1:6 Colin Baker costume (costume only, body and head not included).

The costume was stopped 90% completed, all she needs to make is the vest and spats upon purchase (note: she is on vacation now so it may be a month or so till she can). Not included in outfit: cat badge, watch and chain.
It was very complicated for her so was one of her pricier outfits. Please PM me for price. All proceeds go directly towards the commission of another head!

I'm not great at picking out all the nuances of a person's face but my first impressions of Leela are that perhaps the face is a little too long and the mouth needs widening a tad?
The hair looks fine though and I think the sculpt is a good start. I'll watch a DVD with Leela in later and see if I can pick out any other areas that need work and then get back to you.

After pulling up pics of her sculpts next to reference last night, Leela's nose needed to be longer, and yup, the mouth needed to be wider, so I sent more ref last night to back up the requests, and now we await picture series #2! :chew:chew:chew

I'll look forward to it. Even if the final sculpt isn't dead on it'll still be
decent to have as the Leela customs I've seen usually use CY Girl heads.

Very exciting. I got the photos from Adas Leela adjustments back from Ada today waiting for me when I got home from work. You can really see the changes she put it. I'll review afterwards.

I like where she's at. The three quarters view particularly. Ada traditionally does men better than women, so you can really see she's tried with this one. It's still not a total home run yet, but even if we stopped here I think I'd be happy.

Leela had penciled on eyebrows in the show so it's hard to see how good she is without them! (laugh)

I like how unhappy the Leela sculpt looks too. Every communication I've ever had with Ada for almost every head has been "can you make them look more pissed off?" (laugh). With Tom I finally said "He needs to look like he just found a room full of dead people", because he kept on being given a smile.

What do you think, gang?

Wow! it's amazing what a few adjustments can do,I can definitely see Louise Jameson in the sculpt now. I think the expression is very good,Leela often looked grumpy if the Doctor didn't explain something to her properly and it'll also work for an angry,ready to fight Leela which was pretty much her character anyway (I ignore the last part of The Invasion Of Time lol!).
I'm happy enough with both the 4th Doctor & Leela sculpts as they are and with a decent paintjob I'm sure they'll shine even more.

I'm really happy with this head sculpt. One of my first attempts at making a custom outfit was Leela's leathers:

I've had to make do with a generic CY Girl head up 'til now. Finally, I'll have a head sculpt that looks like Leela to go with this outfit! Woo hoo!

I just sent the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) commission off last weekend, so it will be 2/3 weeks till we see the first pics of her progress with him.

Payments for him are still being excepted until he is cast and shipped.
$35 for partial commission cost/cast + $5 shipping and handling.
+$10 for Ada to paint it, +$15 each additional head you'd like afterwards.

I just recieved the first batch of pictures back from Ada for the Patrick Troughton sculpt for approval and to see if he needs any changes made. I'm very happy with how he turned out and all changes he needs are really superficial because he looks good.

So far we only have three people who have paid for their Troughton heads who said were interested. Hopefully with these first pictures here more will come in. It's an expensive project to fund ourselves!

That's f'ing awesome!
I'm not as familiar with all the nuances of Patrick Troughton's features as I am the likes of Tom Baker or Jon Pertwee but I don't think there's much if indeed anything to be tweaked and I'm going to see if I can get the cash together for one.
