Another option for getting Who clothing for those that were asking is possibly contacting seamstress Laura Field at Divina Dawn sewing.

Back when I first made Denys Fisher Doctor Who customs, she sewed my Nyssa outfit for me and my black Sontaran uniforms. She is good, but is someone I would recommend sending her your own material of choice to use (her own material choices could be... wonky sometimes). :)

Any updates on the 2nd and 4th Doctor commissions?

Hi grizzlelee,
It's still happening. Sorry for the wait. I actually had 8 (!) headsculpt commissions going on at once (2 Supernatural, 2 Phantasm, 4 Doctor Who), and I've been getting them all underway, while waiting for some of the other lists to fill out.

I've collected for and commissioned the 2 Supernatural and 1 of the Phantasm heads (and just recieved the amazing first pics back of them from the sculptor this weekend!).

I'm currently collecting for the Doctor Who "Invasion" Cyberman 1:6 kit with head, chest plate, gun, and arm/leg bits now, and will be collecting for the three different Ada Doctor Who heads next once that is sent off (for the 2nd Doc, Jamie, and S 18 Tom).

To round off the Tom theme, I already know the next round of heads after them will at least be Leela and Romana 2. I'll PM info on final commission cost in a few weeks. :)

Hey all!
Sorry it's been a while getting around to this. As you probably know from the thread, I was not only looking to commission the Doctor Who heads, but 2 SUPERNATURAL and some Phantasm ones as well, (and I did those others first).

Now that those others are completed by Ada and about to get shipped out, I am looking to start collecting now for the Second Doctor, and if people can afford it at the moment for those that wanted him, Jamie too.

We are catching a bit of a price break from Ada on these. She recently raised her rates by $35 to commission her, but because I ordered those other heads from her, she is giving us her old rate!

There aren't as many people going in on this as my SUPERNATURAL, so the cost will be $35 a head, plus $5 shipping if you are in the US, + $10 per head you want her to paint for you. (for overseas we'll figure out the post cost later once we get them in hand).

The heads come with a neck cavity made to fit on a Dragon body, but has a neat neck adapter they come with that lets it fit on a Hot Toys or Sideshow head as well.

Please let me know if you are still interested, and if paying for both is possible for you at this time for those interested in both, otherwise if it's too tight for most people right now we'll just do Pat first.
Thanks!

So is the Tom Baker head on hold until after Pat and Jamie?

So is the Tom Baker head on hold until after Pat and Jamie?

It WAS, but it seems from my E-mails too many people are antsy for Tom. :)
I just wanted to split them up so everyone could afford to get everyone they wanted, so I will be doing all three at once now, but I'll work with people who want all three but can't afford to pay for all three right now through PM.

Tom question for everyone though. There is no problem with commissioning different Tom sculpts at different times. His S 18 is as distinctive and different as his first season look in my opinion.

People have been PMing me asking to do an earlier version too. Would your preference be for a grim faced S 18 now, or a grim faced S 15 now (it would be this image specifically). I should point out as the reason: Leela would be next head after him. :)Let me know!

Providing the quality is there I'd certainly be intrested in several different Tom Baker sculpts and if it meant Leela was next then I'd prefer a season 15 version first.

As with the Baker photo above, could you post the reference pic you're having Ada use for Troughton?

Thanks.
Mark

Great question. Troughton was REALLY frakking hard to find decent reference for. I did, but it was hard. The reason it was hard was that his facial expression was always changing the shape of his face, and the most iconic pics from his era were never straight on. They were usually him pulling a "George Clooney" where his head was slightly down, tilted forward a bit, looking forward by looking up.

My personal criteria was that I didn't want any reference from the Three Doctors. He was too cumudgeony in that.

While I personally wouldn't have minded a comical look, I realize the majority would not. Instead I settled on a clear pics where he is looking like he is thinking/worried, as it was a good representation of his character.

As for Jamie, I've had the same problem and I still need to find better reference, so feel free to post good pics that you think might help. Most pics of him aren't good static pics to sculpt from. They are while he is talking, scowling, terrified. This is an example of a face expression I could use better pics of for Jamie:

I had today off work and I got a lot more reference for both, which is funny in how many of them their mouths are open for publicity shots. The pic below is more the ideal look for both I'm going to ask for. Great profile shots.

I haven't heard too many responses one way or the other from the people who expressed interested before. Thank you for those who have. YOU GUYS ROCK!

For those who haven't, just drop me a line and tell me where you stand with this, if you're still in or are now uninterested, or just tell me here.

Right now, the plan is to be commissioning a lot of Doctor Who heads from Ada over time, but that's only if there's other people to help fund it in these joint community commissions because it's a very expensive burden. If no one contributes, or if others just figure they can wait to pick them up from Ada on E-bay later, the project dies after a few heads because it takes a shared financial responsability to keep this going, and that's one I can't afford on my own.

I plan to be commissioning the Tom sculpt VERY soon for everyone to see what Ada is capable of Doctor Who-wise. :)

The Tom sculpt is commissioned! Thank you for those that pre-payed!

The community orders for these are being done a bit differently then than the way I did them for other shows.

Since there are a lot of fan heads cropping up out there, I'll post the head pictures when it's done for a few weeks to get orders in then, AFTER people can see what the finished head looks like, since I understand there are a lot of Doctor Who head customizers out there for you guys to choose from.

Taking orders for Leela now, who we hope to commission off soon as well! :chew:chew:chew

Just wanted to let everyone know since I said Leela would be soon, I plan on sending her off by the end of the week so her and Tom get done at the same time!!!!

I want to tell everyone and to get their thoughts and make them aware, after some deliberation on how to do her hair: bald, swept behind the head, etc, Leela pretty much always wore hers hanging down in front. That's her trademark look, and I think she would just look wrong if done any other way (see pic above), and I want her to look as spot on as possible, even if it means loss or articulation at the neck because of the hair, so that's how I plan on her being done. Thoughts or comments?

Unless her longer hair changes the price when I commission her, Leela's cost is the same as the other heads: $35 plus shipping.

Sounds good to me,I don't mind losing a bit of poseability if it helps with the accuracy.
Which base body will the head be made to fit?

I'll get back to you on that, unless someone else here knows. I thought someone said it came with adaptors like the male dolls do as well.

Sarah Jane?

Sounds good to me,I don't mind losing a bit of poseability if it helps with the accuracy. Which base body will the head be made to fit?

I sent off the Leela commission today. She is being made for a Cy Girl body because they are really posable and come in different skin tones if you want your Leela tanned.

The important part to me was commissioning her around the same time as the Tom to get them back from Ada at the same time so we'd get them together.

Now, here's another question. since we're talking getting heads back around the same time.

I like ordering things in sets. Would people be up to commissioning a Sarah Jane head quickly in the next few weeks so we would get her back at the same time as the Tom and Leela, to complete a whole 4th Doctor theme there? It just makes more sense to get her done at the same time as we are getting the Tom, so people have a choice over which companion to display him with (or both!).

My preference for look would be around "Planet of Evil", where she was getting longer hair, but not too long to effect head articulation. I also thought it would be nice to have a character people wouldn't need to worry about neccessarily making a story specific costume for, since fashion clothes will do in a pinch. :)

Pat, Jamie, (and probably Zoe) are going to be the next wave after this, though I am accepting the pre-pays commissions now as people have it. They only got pushed back when it made more sense to do a whole Tom wave rather than splitting a wave up, this way we get an eras worth of characters at once, which ROCKS!.

Sarah's cost would be same as the others: $35 a head, + $10 if you want Ada to paint her for you. + $5 S&H if you're in the US. Overseas we'll worry about cost once the heads are in and I can weight them to make it as cheap as possible.

Here's the Sarah Jane pic I was thinking of:

sladee05.jpg

Since everyone always offers reference, good facial reference of Sarah would be appreciated (where she isn't smiling) as a straight on view, as I've been having trouble finding that. She would be made for a Cy-Girl neck.

Not that anyone is interested or anything, but here's the first W.I.P. sneak peak picture I've gotten back from Ada! :)

As you can see, there are no sideburns yet.
