:lecture

and Steve Moffat just let it out that
the weeping angels
will be returning in series 5 (or whatever the kids are calling it these days. :lol

Awesome. Fits in with his desire to create something lasting himself. May they become the new Sontarans!

As long as the story isn't "Blink part 2" I don't mind the Weeping Angels returning but I'm hoping the whole retarded concept of stories where the main character barely makes an appearance becomes a thing of the past.

I believe it is the episode with River Song. ;)

(not a doctor-lite episode... I haven't even heard that he will be continuing the Doctor-lite tradition).

Hopefully not as IMO the focus of each and every story should be on the Doctor, companion and whatever the villain happens to be, no more BS with companions families or random characters we've never met before that may or may not have had their lives impacted in some way by the Doctor being in their vicinity.

Actually I think Series 4 accomplished their light episodes quite well. One missing Donna, the other the Doctor to make up for each having their own focused stories. I still think parts of Midnight is creepy as hell and quite a good commentary on group think in a stress situation.

I cannot comment much on series 4 due to a special chip that I had implanted that helps keep me from going off on one whenever that particular era is mentioned :D

..Self restraint? Im surprised :lol I dunno though, I think if you could get over the 10 hate you could get into Midnight. Very dark, creepy, but thoughtful.

Midnight truly is one of the best written episodes of DW ever. Classic or Nu. I don't care. Everytime I watch it it keeps me on the edge of my seat.

Tennant gets his self-loving ass handed to him pretty hard... bcm you would like it. :lol

Something like that! :lol

Maybe in a year or so I'll give it another go 'cos I think I saw it originally but like most of the last couple of years of the show have deliberately tried to forget I ever saw it.

Right now I still find viewing anything from the RTD era a waste of time especially now I've access to all the Classic stories still in existence.

I'm currently halfway through "Invasion of the Dinosaurs" which is a good story with hilariously bad effects that will hopefully get a CGI update for the DVD release.

Anything less than him being repeatedly pummeled with blood flying out his mouth in slow motion like in a boxing movie just isn't acceptable :D

Spoiler-free review for The End of Time here: https://www.sfx.co.uk/page/sfx?entry=sfx_at_the_doctor_who

another with minor spoilers (and a bit hard to read) here: https://lifeofwylie.com/2009/12/18/doctor-who-the-end-of-time/

And with that, I think my time in this thread is done until I see these episodes. It sounds like the ending is gonna be a doozy, and I want to experience that "ZOMG! :horror" moment without any prior knowledge. :peace

So close, so very close.

NO WAY will I even try to read those reviews, afraid something is going to get spoiled for me.

T-Minus one week and counting ladies and gents

"In the final days of planet Earth, everyone had bad dreams...(except for bcm who awaited the final days with glee)"

The End of Time draws near - 3 days to go!

The Ten hate gets pretty old - I've avoided this thread because of it. Just saw the New Doctor and Waters of Mars and the Graham Norton show with Tennant and started watching the Proms (fantastic - I love how they show the kids being scared by the monster parade!).

I'm now back in Who-mode and ready for the End of Time. I think Tennant is smart to go out while the show is still strong - and I've loved the direction the show has gone since the revival.

But I'm ready for a new direction for the Doctor that is less the "I'm giving you a choice..." dark Doctor and a bit lighter. (Or much, much darker - as in being kind of a Doctor Dexter seeking out bad aliens and murdering them in cold blood).

My hope for Doc 11 is that they make him less magical than 10. I liked Tennant's Doctor, but they basically turned him into a wizard. I also think it's time for the sonic screwdriver to go away again, that thing is a magic wand now.
