Im watching 'The Impossible Planet' i think its well written and an overall epic feel, i think near the end of RTD run as was stated very well by Pixeltwin is he had gone big and then struggled to find ways to outdo himself which i think led to the frankly messy fourth series + climax which as 'epic' as it should of been failed to hit the mark because the story was all over the place trying to tie in several different story arcs (Rose, Mickey,Donna, meta crisis, dalek Khan, Davros, Martha, Sarah Jane). Stephen Moffet is currently on his first run as Chief and he has to pick up where RTD left off and to RTD's credit he pretty much covered every huge story he could think off bringing back the biggest Who baddies and going bigger than before, Moffet now has the unenviable task of winning fans with a new doctor and restablishing the Who-universe as he see's it, while trying to reinvent stories that have been done before. The budget may be smaller but Moffet is winning fans back by simply writting simpler and smarter. Epic is great but when its called for, not every episode needs to be extravigant and OTT when simple fun storys set in a tiny village such as Amys Choice can get people talking about how good Who is.

There's no point in including "big budget elements" when there's no money to pay for them, and the BBC has been hit hard by the recession. And even then we've still gotten a new TARDIS, new Daleks and Spitfires having a dogfight with a UFO. Not too shabby.

And that's just the first half the series! We still have the Silurian two parter, 2 stand alones and the finale to go!

Just rewatched Unearthly Child and I am (again) amazed at how much Ian acts more like "the Doctor" than The Doctor does. :lol

:lol Almost a year old. You loose sir. Good day.:thud:

Still doesn't mean it wont come true, so I lose nothing good sir.

I love William Hartnell!

I wasn't too keen when I first saw him, but then I got the boxset with his first 3 stories for Christmas and he grew on me quite a bit, his initial indifference to Ian & Barbara was awesome.

DinoLast,
That news is no big deal to me, if Tennant or anyone else from that era ever makes any kind of return to the show I shall simply not watch it, even if it is for the 50th Anniversary.

I have to say I cringed when I watched that Children in need special where Tennant met Davidson. He was making fun of him being bald even though Davidson looked nothing like that when he played the Doctor. I know it was a bit of fun, but they made it look like canon, which was wrong IMO

I dont like multiple doctor stories, although i would watch it if tennant came back i feel they ruin the myth that the incarnations are the same man.

Watched The Daleks today and I love it still. The Doctor is starting to discover (or remember?) how much he loves adventure. :)

i think they would only do a mutiple doctor story if it was good.
honestly it will be something like he hits his head and its all in his mind, lol

I guess I'm putting this in the wrong place, but I did a quick Doc Who search and this was pretty much all that came up!

Any way, I found this, makes you realise what we all missed with the poss of a 12" line from Product Enterprises. The fig, Tardis and console look amazing!

I was in contact with Steve Walker at the time all this was planned, he sent me some Avengers stuff and Gerry Anderson stuff to look over. Really nice bloke, he had such plans for this line, such a shame it all went pear shaped. That said the Tom Baker statue does look really nice, but I like me my articulated 1/6th dollies myself!

"Time Crash" epitomises much of what I hate about 10's character, he was way too obnoxious and smug to the point where I kept wishing someone would punch him out.

Wookster & Kabukiman,
Did you know that Inked Dalek has made some casts of the headsculpt from that statue and sculpted a neck so that it fits a 1:6 body?
