I didn't see that, thanks for the heads up! :duff

Happy to help! :)

Also check out the Doctor Who social thread as there's several people who should be able to fix you up with various bits of attire for a 4th Doctor figure including the all important scarf.

Watched the Doctor Who proms last night, it was quite a neat little show which showcased Murray Golds tunes in decent context. Murray Golds 'Doomsday' is one of my favourite themes i have heard, its very close at the start to the 28 days later score. The live show thats coming up looks like its going to be quite the epic occasion, Matt Smith wont be there live but they have filmed a special segment if i read correct?

Yeah, that's right. I was checking ticket prices on the website for the Trent FM Arena and it explicitly states no actors from the TV series will be appearing live so I guess they're covering themselves if some idiot tries to sue for false advertising.

yea i saw an advert in the local papaer and it has a Darlek, cyberman and weaping angel in it, no Doctor or Amy so it wont confuse anybody

Got my ticket this morning! :yess:

Now I have to make sure I avoid spoilers from the earlier dates on the tour :gah:

Any word on what kind of souvenirs will be sold at these events, if any?

You know how Disney on Ice has the mouse ears and light up swords? Anything like that going on at these events?

there probably will be, the BBC has to make money some how, lol

i just checked on ticket-master prices and there not too bad (prices to me are too expensive) but whats kool is when i checked my local shows (M.E.N arena) they have a afternoon and evening, awwww thats good of them

I haven't heard of anything yet but I expect there'll be something, I'll certainly be taking some cash with me when I go.

When I told my niece I got the ticket she said "Will you ask for a refund if the show mentions the 10th Doctor"? :)

hicks,
It's the same with the Trent FM Arena, I'm going to the afternoon show.

Now's out chance! No one tell him Tennant has just been booked to star in the production interacting with the pre-recorded Matt and Karen on pre-recorded video!

If that happens I'm close enough to the stage to have a decent shot at hitting him with an unopened can of soda. I could attach a little note saying "I'm so, so sorry" to it :)

Pix,
I actually read a discussion on one site that suggests that's EXACTLY what will happen but I don't think Moffat would go there. If he did my opinion of him would revert to what it was a few months back ;)

Speaking of rumors, there's another one going round that suggests Rory will die for real in the next story which I really, really hope is BS because his inevitable replacement will be River f'ing Song and it'd also mean the possibility of Amy falling for the Doctor rearing it's ugly head again and I'd sooner see Rory stick around than either of those 2 scenarios.

More than anything it'd be nice for a couple of series with the same TARDIS crew as there's been at least 1 change a series so far since the show returned.

Well boys I had my hands all over Amy Pond's skirt today ...

A Dr Who Exhibition opened up in Newcastle upon Tyne here in the UK so I had to go...

Some really great stuff there and lots of "Please do not touch the displays " signs everywhere . Which I was so disgusted with I of course had to touch 'em.:lol Well worth the visit and a great day out if you're in the area. There was a nice display of what will be shown on tonight's show behind a curtain - I had to look !!

Loads of stuff and I could spend hours in there walking around all of the props etc. In fact I may just have to go back there next week , not sure if the Tardis is up to it though ...

Tonight's episode was mediocre, the initial menace of the new look Silurians got completely nuked with the revelation that they were wearing masks which concealed more human looking features entirely lacking the same "Oh crap! it's an alien nasty!" quality of the mask and the originals.

As ever there were a few magic moments from Smith, most notably his realisation that he'd let the kid go off on his own and when Amy..............disappeared, he's an actor that can switch emotional gears effortlessly and without any drop in the believeability of his performance and it's ALWAYS fun to see him in action.

It seemed to me like the human faces were only done to further hammer home the whole point of them being "like us, only different" that the Doctor adequately explained anyway.

Seeing such familiar facial features behind the mask really shattered the illusion of them being something from Earth but more related to lizards/dinosaurs than humans and I think the original design should have been given a bit of modern polish instead of such a lame reimagining that is by far the worst of the modern versions of a Classic era creature.

OMG, that's your best post EVER, dude! (laugh) :clap

I loved, loved, loved Hungry Earth. It's definitely my favorite of the season so far. Again, it was a matter of two-parters having more time to set up a story and incidental characters, but it was also exceptionally good. I really hope part two keeps it up (it looks like it does)!

Lots of great Matt moments. I have known about the Silurian masks for months, otherwise it might have bothered me more. I've had time to get over it.

Rory is okay but not really working for me. Harry Sullivan, while not given a LOT to do every ep was very likable and his unintentional bumbling a riot. He caught on with me right away.
By this point if I was gonna like Rory more I would have already. Both he and Amy are just "eh" the way they have been developed which is mystifying. They could be anybody new just introduced for the episode the way they have been written. Such a let down after Amy's strong set-up.

The basic story was OK and the way they restricted the initial appearances of the Silurians to fleeting glances was in the best traditions of good sci-fi but totally wasted with the "humanised" faces behind the mask.

I also didn't like the way the 2 scientists admitted they liked each other in such a cliched fashion as it was horribly reminiscent of something from the RTD era.

Hopefully by the next series the writers will have got out of the RTD mindset and more of the scripts won't feel like rejects from his era.
