Peter Capaldi, from what I've seen him in, would probably be a fantastic Doctor. I would welcome an older Doctor, too.

Looks like Sunday is it. August 4th, 7 PM. They said it'd be simulcast on BBC America, so I wonder if that means on the West Coast we'd see it at 11 AM?

Chris O'Dowd would be interesting. Part of me wonders if it'll be neither. I seem to remember the bookmakers not being terribly accurate when Matt was announced.

There is a part of me (a very weak and unrealistic part, granted) which doesn't want to know who the 12th Doctor is until the final moments of the Christmas special.

The rumors are swirling. Daniel Rigby's name is suddenly jumping up all over too.

It'd be funny if it were him, finally a Ginger:

I still wish Idris Elba didn't take himself out of the running.

Ive heard a little whisper.......Andrew Lee Potts.

Plus Jason Flemyng to play guest villain in the next series.

Mischa Collins is obviously ****ing with people with this:

and I absolutely love that he is.

It looks like Capaldi is getting more steam heading into the announcement hour. People are seriously betting on him.

Ok, ep 11 or so of Season 6 and is it just me, or is that season really uneven with its tone? Loved the xmas ep, then the first three thru the pirate one; dug the 'reveal' of Pond x3, but starting with the 'kill hitler' episode, its kinda like: scary ep; trppy episode; scary again and repeat!!

Peter Capaldi gets my vote; he's a Who guest star and would be great, me thinks

This season very was uneven. That ep with the two kids was f--king painful. I suspect they phone in a few stories to focus on the 50TH and Christmas special.

I think it's time for some fresh blood in the writer's pit.

Yea, im tempted to keep myself in the dark until the regeneration on Christmas. It would be an awesome surprise, but there is no way im going to be able to keep myself in the dark for 5 months when this will no doubt be everywhere.

Behold, the 12th Doctor!

(Put in spoilers incase anyone wants to keep themselves in the dark.)

This is definatly going to be interesting. Im looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I really like the choice. On a side note the general audience didn't react that well. Proof that most "whovians" are lonely girls that watch the show only for the young actor. They think that watching a "science" show makes them more "intelligent" than the rest of the fandoms. That's the thing i hate when some things become too mainstream. After the Avengers hit the cinemas the world filled with "nerds" who can't even tell you the origin of the silver surfer or name one cosmic being.

As am I. I really like the fact that they went a different way with this one.

Matt Smith always felt a little "David Tennant-The Sequel" to me; so it will be interesting to see a brand new take on the role.

I am very happy, on the face of it! He has been a great actor in all that I've seen him in. I think he will definitely bring a different energy - much more of a change, even, than from Tennant to Smith. And it's nice to have an older Doctor again.
