I haven't been this excited about a new Doctor since... well, ever.

Great choice. All the way around.

Can't wait for all the teenage girls to start whining he's too old :lol

Seriously though, he seems to have the experience to pull it off. At 55 he could well be only there for what seems the norm of 2-3 years. Just wish their was a cameo scene in the 50th now

I think he's a great choice, apart from Richard E Grant I think he's the best man for the role right now... and Grant was a bad guy too recently to be considered!

If you get the chance, check out The Crow Road (it had Simone Bendix in it as well).

Nuff ****ing said. It'll be funny walking into a Forbidden Planet next year seeing Malcolm Tucker's face all over the ****ing shop.

He seemed to be genuinly excited for the role so thats cool. His look seems too close to an older Tennant, I'll be curious to see what style he pursues. He looked pretty sinister at moments in all black, which would be a welcome turn for the Doctor.

I have to say that I'm both surprised and glad they went with an older Doctor of Capaldi's age. There was a lot of speculation that they'd keep him young to keep the whole fangirl population who fancied Matt Smith and bought the merchandise just because of him.

I like that they went with an actor who was right for the role and didn't really care about that factor.

I love that he was in the Pompeii episode. Especially when it took Whovians five seconds to come up with this:

I love that he was a serious fan since he was a kid and I love that just about everyone associated with Doctor Who including past companions are excited whether they had something to do with the reveal or the show now.

I will miss Matt, he was my first real Doctor that I watched in real time and his departure will be the first time that I'll have to say goodbye to a Doctor in real time. I will admit that I'm looking forward to Twelve and Capaldi though.

I have a feeling that his relationship with Clara will be similar to the relationship of Susan and One that so many people who love the Original Who cherish and I have a feeling that his portrayal will border on more of the Eccelston ideal where he is serious with spots of goofy behavior which should be fun to see as well.

Watched this today for no other reason that there was nothing on and I wanted to see in real time what reactions were to this. I know nothing about Dr. Who but seeing as the last two guys were young I'm surprised they went with an older guy.

Haven't really seen this guy in anything before, but he looks right and I'm excited to see a vastly different Doctor to the past three.

The fangirl community is such a big part of Who fandom these days, I'm kinda surprised they went with an older Doctor myself. With the much younger Clara as his companion, maybe we can get back to the more avuncular Doctor/companion relationship, and give the flirty stuff a rest for a while.

Gonna be, they already are. I must have read a dozen or so tweets right after he came out about how Doctor Who was ruined :lol

I think Capaldi is going to great and I'm dying to see his first real go. I have a feeling he'll have a Sonic more like Tom's and I'm sure he is up for a Tardis upgrade.
