^ Glad you enjoyed it :), feel like I'm one of the few that isn't. Was slightly better but that's not saying much. :( This run is just not holding my interest at all and I just cannot take to her as the Doctor - most seem to think she's great, but I just find her way OTT and irritating. For the first time in ages I'm thinking about missing the live broadcasts completely and just recording and watching them when there's nothing better to do. :(

Hopefully this abomination that the BBC are trying to pass off as "Doctor who" goes the same way as Class and gets the axe....

Tennant,Smith or Capaldi could always come back and help steady the ship....they could even dress up in drag just to appease those who still want a alternate universe Time lord/lady version:)

:rotfl That Capaldi pic is too funny! :lol I agree shame atm it's Doctor Who in name only. I get that it's mostly aimed at a younger audience/kids but anymore so and it may as well be on CBBeebies. Saw a rumour recently that Chibnall and the She-Tennant-Smith may be leaving in 2019 - granted a massive pinch of salt is needed but dear god please let it be true.

That's it, an almost forgettable season with not one stand out villain that you'd love to see return. The classic villains like the Daleks and Cybermen have been dropped as the series is rebooted with a feminist agenda. Some episodes were good but they could've been much better, the series seems to burying the past and anything that happened won't be mentioned.

This has been the worst series in it's long history...a shambolic mess from start to finish. Awful preachy PC writing with an inept cast who were only there to tick the "diversity" boxes rather than actually being any good or suited to the roles...Ms Whittaker being the main offender.
And it's not over yet...the new revised feminised Daleks are back on new years night...whoopee do...Dalek bumps will never look the same again...

^ :lol @Dalek bumps!!! We'll be getting pink female versions probably!! I shudder to think what will happen to the Daleks in Chibnall's hands. :panic: Happy they are back but think it smacks of desperation IMO - they don't want to admit it but they need some of the past stuff back to try and save some face and attempt to attract the older/classic fanbase back.

Well I gave it a go and it's not been a good season at all I'm afraid, very un-memorable, dull - nothing I'd want to go back and re-watch like the Capaldi/Smith/Tennant eras. Bradley Walsh was the only good thing about this series and I never thought I'd be saying that! Bad scripts, wooden acting, preaching, rubbish villains, deus-ex sonic screwdriver etc (I could go on) - it just hasn't worked.

As for the "Finale" - could have been any regular episode (not a patch on the excellent 'The Doctor Falls'), no stakes or danger thanks to the BBC thinking it would be a good idea to release promo shots for the New Year special prior to Ep10 being aired showing ALL the main cast alive and well (as you do)! Not to mention the ridiculously loud music so you couldn't hear a thing that was being said.

I can't take to Whittaker in the role, too weak to be believable and trying too hard to imitate past Doctors instead of putting her own take on the character. Unfortunately she's sticking around for the next season too  - so I don't think I'll be. :( Still she has a scarf though now I see...so that makes it all ok - Who fans like Doctor's in scarves, right? :lol

I like that the finale didn’t have an obligation to present a great dramatic extravaganza. More like the classic series in that way. But there has been a kind of blandness to this series. I have enjoyed Jodie and the rest of the cast. The last four episodes were good. But yeah, on the whole, the writing has been bland.

Sounds like after this season, if there is another season..he goes back to being male :lol

:lol I do hope so.   A female version may well have worked with a better actress rather than one of Chibnall's buddies but we will never know, tbh it has just left a really bad taste with me and I still feel (even more so now) that the Doctor should have stayed male.

Also I do wonder how many of these "new" female Doctor fans will stick around long-term given the length of time until the next series airs, bet most of them will be gone by that time having moved onto the next 'cool novelty thing' no doubt.

I just finished watching the JW Dr Who season including the New Years special and I found it enjoyable. I had watched the Tom Baker season growing up in the late 70s/early 80s but never had any real interest beyond that. I did try and watch when they renewed the show with Christopher Eccleston, and I found that season to be a real chore to get through, so I gave up after that.

I heard great things about the Tennant and Smith episodes but after the Eccleston run I just couldn't bring myself to watch those. I just remember it felt so geared towards a younger audience, with overwrought and exaggerated tension and odd pacing, and something about aliens in disguise in Parliament but you could detect them from their flatulence? It just really turned me off. So when the whole hoopla about the first female Dr came about, it renewed my interest and I decided to watch the show with her. And I did like it overall, definitely better than the Eccleston run IMO.

I've seen that her run has gotten at best mixed reviews from the Dr Who fans out there and I think that's a shame. At least from me as an outsider to this world, I think she had good charm and presence. The stories I think were maybe on the same level as from what I remember, but it was definitely directed much much better with better pacing and drama and if I remember correctly, a better budget since everything looks much improved and slicker. I'm on board for another season with Jodi. Hopefully the rumors of her leaving are not true.

So, are the Tennant and Smith seasons better than Eccleston's? I'm considering going back and watching those seasons since I enjoyed Jodi's, and those seem to be the gold standard for the modern Dr run. What do you guys think? Are they worth a look even if I didn't like the Eccleston season but did like the Jodi season?

You should check out the Tennant,Smith and Capaldi years...there's some real gems sprinkled throughout...

The girl in the fireplace..Human nature/The family of blood...Blink...Midnight...The waters of mars...Victory of the daleks...Amy's choice..The doctor's wife...Cold war...Listen...Flatline...The magician's apprentice/The witch's familiar and Heaven sent to name a few.

The new look Dalek really summed up this "alternate universe" version of this once great show....Cobbled together and not very good....

:lol :slap Just about sums it up really. Not keen on that look.

I confess I didn't watch the New Year special live and have yet to, after wasting close to 10 hours of my life on this drivel that's being labelled as Doctor Who I just couldn't bring myself to waste anymore. Recorded it but not sure whether I'll bother watching it tbh - have seen the reviews and it sounds just as bad as what was before.

I see the viewing figures took yet another hit, am so interested to see how many of these new bandwagon She-Tennant "fans" will wait around for the next series, although I think that is it for me until the next regeneration (and hopefully back to a male actor - can but hope) - can't see me watching anymore episodes whilst Whittaker is in the lead role - she is simply dreadful.

....

Definitely give them a go (granted there are some not very good ones - I'm looking at you 'Love & Monsters' and 'Fear Her'), but there are some really great ones in 10, 11 and 12's series.

My personal favorites that spring to mind are Heaven Sent, Flatline, Listen World Enough & Time/The Doctor Falls - bit biased here as I loved pretty much all of the Capaldi era - they get a lot of re-watches!

Also The Eleventh Hour, Vincent and the Doctor, A Christmas Carol and Victory of the Daleks from the Smith era, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, Blink, The End of Time and The Waters of Mars from the Tennant era and of course the 50th anniversary special 'Day of the Doctor' are all definitely worth a look.

You guys shouldn’t pas judgement on the Dalek. Its not a new design. Its a dalek who remade their armor as best they could with limited time and resources. :monkey2

I liked the New Year episode quite a bit. On the whole I think series 11 was Ok. I like vanilla and I am easy to please though. :lol

Nu Who has been cringe inducing since day one. A waste of talented actors, more soap opera than science fiction.

tide will turn and maybe this version will be next :lol

warning toilet humor and rough language

Curious ...do the faithful think if they do another season, more than likely he will be male again

But my question is should they go for a young or old Doctor :lecture
