Rose's return in series 4 totally nuked the impact her original exit had and they should have killed her off outright, the Dalek could have shot her instead of the Doctor as they ran towards each other.

She could have then died in the Doctors arms after being dragged onto the TARDIS and the episode would have ended with the good guys totally demoralised setting up the finale where the Doctor had to get everyone to fight on so that Rose's death wasn't for nothing.

But characters rarely die or depart for good in Nu-Who so I suppose it was too much to expect that Donna would stay gone for good as well.

We know you don't like the show as it is now.. but it's starting to come off as just trolling.

I've been saying this for some time now.

There are plenty of shows and movies I don't like, but I don't feel the compulsion to go into threads about those, and verbally vomit up (constantly) comments like:

"Nice to see the BBC have found a way to improve Donna's appearance, now they just need to shove a load of socks in her mouth and it'll be like she's not even there

A Pitch Black vibe? is that a reference to the Void that Tennant's "acting" disappears to when he's trying to be serious?"

....When I don't like something, I may mention it once or twice... and then just keep quiet about it, or not even go into that thread. But the need to spew up negative, personal opinion as if it's fact..... continuously, is just about the most annoying thing anybody in this entire forum does.

You don't like it.

We get it. Really, we do. Now either join in the discussion in a grown up way (ie: stop blurting out "I hate Tennant! I hate Donna Noble! I hate RTD!" in every bleedin' post), or please... just shut the hell up.

In bcm's defense, he's a huge Doctor Who fan and the title of this thread is "Doctor Who - Spoilers!" Why wouldn't he post here?

Imagine you're a huge Star Wars fan (that might not be too much of a stretch for some of us:eek: ) and you find a thread titled "Star Wars - Spoilers!" but all the discussion is about the Prequels, which you happen to loathe. Sure, you could start a new thread and call it "Star Wars - Classic Trilogy Only!!!" and that might work, but most threads like that die young.

bcm certainly isn't a troll, he's contributed a great deal to this thread (when it was steered toward the classic series) as well as the other various Who collectible threads usually found in the General Collectibles forum. When Who is discussed here, bcm is there, and not always just to be negative. :peace

just so i know, is this easter special the 1st of the david tennant specials this year?
I remember that there were going to be more than one, But i cannot remember how many. So in addition, how many specials are we getting this year?

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm aware bcm is a huge fan of the original Who, and when he's talking like a well mannered adult and not a spoiled child he contributes greatly to the thread. But it's his inability to say anything without including some kind of "David Tennant is useless!/RTD has a gay agenda!/Catherine Tate was terrible as Donna Noble!" negative, venemous content.

I dislike lots of things, and I generally keep quiet about them. What's to be gained by telling people all the time what they already know. It's not going to change our minds... does it make him feel better or something? I don't get it.

If you don't have something nice to say... then there's no need to repeat your hate filled opinions again and again and again... especially when the conversation hasn't even asked for them.

that's my only problem. bsm's clearly a Dr Who fan, I just wish he'd talk about the positives more, and not what he hates about it. In every sentence.

I think it's four specials this year.
Saw the teaser for the Easter special the other day, looks like it could be good. Did bring to mind the S4 ep. on the diamond planet tho (can't remember the title). Not that that's a bad thing.

Also saw the Torchwood trailer too. Looks v v v good.

Cheers,
Doug

This year we'll get:

- Planet of the Dead (Easter)

- The Waters of Mars (don't know if that's an official title yet or not and have no idea when it will air)

- TBA 2 part story. (no idea on when the episodes will air)

- TBA 2 part story. (no idea on when the episodes will air)

I'd guess Crimbo eve and Crimbo day for the last two... unless of course Crimbo day will mark the new guys first outing.
'Who' has proved too much of a cash cow for the beeb not to have a Christmas Special, last year 11 and a half million watched it (the only thing to beat it was Wallace and Gromit which got nearly 3 million more).

It's just not Xmas w/out Who :)

Not to mention the Adventure Calender on the BBC site plays a v important part in killing time at work...

Cheers,
Doug

That's what I figure too, I just think it's kinda wrong to kill off the Doctor on Christmas. My fave Doctor gets the axe on Christmas = worst Christmas ever :monkey2

Ahhhh, but they'll pump up the sentiment to '11' and send you on an emotional roller coaster you'll never forget... well, untill you re-watch it on DVD at least!

It'd be my guess they'll milk it for all it's worth, they'll have specials after its shown with Tennant, Davis et al reminiscing about their favourite bits... you'll love that BCM!

as much as I love Tennant in the role, it won't turn it into a bad Xmas or anything, because we know the show is continuing. And we'll get the excitement of looking forward to the new guy... who I think should be *great* for the role from what I've seen of him.

Interesting times to come :rock
(but first we've got these 4 episodes) ;)

Sounds like required viewing to me LOL!

One thing I expect with the final special is that it'll be the longest, most overblown regeneration scene ever with anyone and everyone from the revival so far making some sort of appearance.

As for my negative remarks,I would be happy to talk about the positives in the new series as I did before I went off it but since "The Runaway Bride" the only things I've enjoyed are,

1.The Judoon
2.The Sontarans returning
3.Wilf

And that's about it. So it's kinda difficult for me to be positive when there's not much that I like about something.
I wish it were otherwise as I am a big fan of the franchise and without Nu-Who would never have got into the Classic era.

I stuck with the last 2 series as I thought it might become decent again but it seems not to be and even the impending departure of two of the major sources of my discontent doesn't exactly fill me with any hope for improvement, considering who will be replacing them.

A previous poster has suggested I shut up but last time I checked this thread wasn't called "The Great Nu-Who Love-In. Please leave all negativity at the door" so why should I stop posting just because it annoys a couple of people?
I'm not doing it purposely and maybe, just maybe I might find some news here that causes me to reconsider my current stance on the show.

It's not unheard of for me to change my opinion on something, when I first saw the designs for the robots I hated the look of the live action Transformers movie but I rented it a few months ago and found it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and now I'm really looking forward to the sequel and some of the merchandise.

Nu-Who has to do a hell of a lot to get me intrested again but I AM open to the possibility.

I think the last two will be on Xmas and new years.

I can't wait for PotD this week. :rock (but I confess I am almost looking forward to the "next time" trailer more.)

I don't think there's going to be a Next Time trailer really. Also.. something that just grinds me is that "Nu-Who". There really is no such thing, it's all Doctor Who and if not for the BBC being stubborn we probably would still be going by the old numbering system.

I don't recall where I heard the term Nu-Who first but I suppose it's come about as a way for fans to seperate the original 1963-89 run from the revival and really there's not much that the two eras have in common (aside from the obvious) so it's difficult for some to accept as being part of the same continuity.

I've just got an e-mail from a buddy and he tells me that the companion for the last 2 specials will be ( Spoiler warning )

WILF!

Hope it's true as he's the one member of the Noble clan that I find endearing.

Yeah I am very pleased with this news. Wilf is prolly one of my top 3 favorite human characters on "Nu-Who" :monkey3 ;)

For someone that doesn't watch it bcm, you sure know a lot of what has happened in nu who, by "I don't watch it" do you mean you "don't watch each episode more than 8 times?" :)

I'm not surprised you like the grandpa though because the camp of his character is straight out of 1983.

Correction, I've watched and indeed ENJOYED most of what came before "The Runaway Bride" ( even DT as the Doctor to begin with ) but after that is when I felt things started to slide.

Even though I nearly stopped watching on several occasions I persisted with it out of a sense of optimism that'd it'd get better before finally calling it a day after the series 4 finale.

And what's so wrong with me liking the character of Wilf?
For me he's the only member of the Noble clan and one of the few in the entire revived show that comes across as being genuinely likeable. Maybe it's because he reminds me a bit of my own grandad who is no longer with us. Did you ever consider that?
