I love Comic Sans.

No, weight is not that important. Many other things matter more. Paint application, pose and expression to name a few.

I can see why you would want it to be heavy. If the piece is very light it feels more like a toy than a collectible. And I think that many collectors wish to escape that prejudice. Still, when it's standing in a nicely lit shelf. Weight doesn't matter at all.

i have seen most of the statues empty from inside (my english is week cant find correct word) when they broke for replacement like cyclops its nothing inside so many examples ....some feels heavy n looks fully sculpted from inside not empty. Hulk comiquette is heavy looks awesome .... even look at big chap alien

Many statues are hollow. Like my latest purchase, the IM 1:1 bust. One of the reasons for this is the wiring for the lights in his eyes.

Solid pieces are often cool. But it's not always the sensible choice.

As long as the piece isnt excessively light like that one piece that i wont mention... (the black marvel guy that likes to dress like a panther) then i dont have too much of a problem... when they are ultra light i dont feel like i got what i paid for... but they dont need to weigh a ton like the old pieces either.

sideshow mostly reduce weight of the statue is that something to do with shipping :cuckoo:

Weight isn't important but I don't mind it if it does though. The Black Panther & base is completely hollow. He doesn't have pegs on the foot (where it attached to the base, you have to be extremely cateful otherwise it might tip over).

I have no idea if I like a statue until I pick it up to see how much it weighs, what lights up and what the ES number on the bottom is.

The actual character, craftsmanship and fabrication come second to those things when determining if I like it or not.... :monkey1

I'm having it dusted as you can see, just can't find the brown shippers box it came with when I bought it.

People usually equate being hollow with being better. There is a bit of different knowing you are getting a solid piece of polystone versus something pieced together with a large empty space within.

The thing is the time for the caviat is long gone. With a lot of the current issues like paint apps, simple manufacturing to prevent breakages, shippings, the actual weight is the least of our worries but there was a time when it was one of the things most complained about because everything else for the most part was in line.

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

in most of the statues base carries a lot weight

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

Weight can also be a negative if there is too much of it.

Harder to move around, which can lead to breaks or drops.

Too much stress can be put on the piece if the pose is extreme in any way.

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

but if statue is too light it feels too delicate n have to care all the time when we have to move it

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

Personally I think there's a sweet spot, around 20lbs is usually a good weight for a PF. If it's lighter than 10lbs it could feel cheap and flimsy, but if every PF weighs 50lbs that would be a nightmare...

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

Fixed it for you.

The PF is 50 lbs. Given that the average weight of a 7 year old is 50 lbs saying it's the weight of a small child would be correct and without the addition needed.
