Re: Does weight really matter in the quality of a Statue?

The PF is 50 lbs. Given that the average weight of a 7 year old is 50 lbs saying it's the weight of a small child would be correct and without the addition needed.

50 lbs! :horror That's some weight! Guess it would be the heaviest of 'em all. The Joker PF specs say that the product weight will be 10.00 lbs (4.54 kg). That's like 1/5 of the Hulk PF! Would it be because of the size/shape, technology, material used, or whatever?

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

Hi friends i have seen old Sideshow Statues like Doom PF , Hulk Pf even small statues r heavy as per weight. see present recent statues r less in weight .Is Weight factor something to do with Quality?
what do u thinK FrienDs

No. My grail piece is a 1/4 scale Logan custom from Philippines and it's light. Customs are usually made of a light resin/fiberglass mixture. My customs are some of my favorite pieces.

I'm having it dusted as you can see, just can't find the brown shippers box it came with when I bought it.

What's the ES?

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

It's all moot now anyways.....you'll probably never see new 1/4 scale statues with the mass and weight of older pieces such as the Hulk PF,Doom PF and Thor PF.

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

I like my statues to be on the heavy side. I can't help it, it's just what I like.

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

I actually just got Black Panther tonight, and I must say he is definitely heavier than people make him seem to be. He's got a decent weight, approximately 10lbs, and I have no worries about him tipping over at all.

The one piece that was a touch disappointing in terms of weight, was the Mystique LSB. I have all four female LSBs and Mystique is considerably lighter than the others. Now, she is one I am slightly worried she might tip over if I'm not careful.

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

I would say weight does factor into quality but not exclusively.

You'll still put quality of sculpt and paint apps at the forefront, but when you encounter breakage issues due to shipping like in the case of IM 1:2, then you start wondering how thin is too thin and you get worried when transporting pieces.

I always felt the added heft of the Hulk and Doom PF added something to them qualitywise. jmo.

I'm sure it's a matter of perspective, like some people don't mind PVC vs resin as well.

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

how come weight of Optimus prime Maquette is so less:cuckoo:

The Hulk PF is one solid piece of Polystone, literally if you chip or dent it, it's solid inside (someone on here did it with one of theirs), the newer PFs are not, if you were to drop it for example it'd shatter and inside would be hollow. That's the only real difference.

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

Hulk PF is solid but I doubt its one piece. I see a seam at the thigh area. So I am sure they cast the legs separately.

Hulkbuster comiquette is solid too. I accidently droped the arm and only a small dent. But its base seem/feel hollow.

The 'old' Thor PF has definitely got some heft to it. I haven't seen the new one in person to know.

For me, weight isn't everything in terms of quality. I think it adds to the perception though. But at the end of the day, a 50lb piece of crap is still a piece a crap. :lol. (Not the best analogy, but nonetheless.)

Re: IS Weight really Matters for quality of Statue??

I will always like a solid statue that is well crafted. However, I don't need it to be so heavy that I have to worry about whether or not it'll collapse a shelf in my display case. There is such a thing as too heavy.
