Well my car just got decimated thanks to texting. I had the green arrow to make a left and this girl on the other side was texting and only saw the green from the arrow and assumed it was for her to go straight. She ran the light and nailed my quarter panel and then the guy behind me rear ended me. I'm fine but the guy behind me broke his nose and my car is probably done. Just got back from having it towed to my friend's autoshop and he said it looks like about 5-6k worth of damage.

Luckily I'm in no way responsible, they put the girl into a police car but I don't know if they arrested her. I always knew this would happen, I just assumed I'd probably get hit on foot in the city by one of these idiots. Can't even begin to tell you how pissed I am.

Sorry to hear that. I get so pissed when I see people driving and using their cell phones. I'm always tempted to do a citizen's arrest - but trying to write down a license plate or take a photo of the offender would make me too distracted while driving.

I hope that girl had insurance and glad that you are ok.

And you seem to be pissed all the time. :monkey1 Well, I'm glad you're okay.

I never use my phone while I'm driving. Nothing's so important that it can't wait until I get out of my car.

Really sorry to hear that man. Earlier this year I was rear-ended by a texter, while I was sitting at a red light! Just be thankful that you're okay.

a girl got killed last year because she was texting while on the freeway. its pretty sad cuz she was in her early 20's.

I'm glad to hear you're okay. I hope everything works out with your car.

Sorry to hear of your incident man , Glad ur ok.

I got cut off last night , kinda the same way , i was lucky that i have the reflexes of a mongoose . i swerved away from that almost accident

Well yea, thats kinda my thing. :lol

Thanks guys, if there is any poetic justice, its that the light had cameras so she can't weasle her way out of being at fault. I'm sure it was a totally stupid text as well as she didn't bother trying to defend herself by saying it was an emergency or anything. Oh and it was definately daddy's car, she was 18 and driving a mercedes.

Already been on the phone to my insurance and I can tell this is going to be excruciating.

Sorry to hear about your car Deckard, that really sucks.

The other day there was a guy texting while driving behind me on the freeway, the idiot was so distracted (he was behind me for awhile and I saw that he didn't even have his hands on the wheel!) that he hit his breaks hard so that he got rear ended. The worst part is the jerk jumped out of his car and was pissed off at the guy that rear ended him! Well, maybe that guy behind him was texting too:rotfl

A girl who graduated with my sister was driving her SUV over a rise in a 40mph zone with her kids in the back. Taking them to school. There was a dump truck stopped at the light on the other side, but she had looked down at her phone to check a text. It was all over. Died while her kids (who were ok) watched.

Stupid? Incredibly. Sad? Even more so.

Its just a car. I'm glad to hear you were ok, Champ. :)

Thanks guys, thanks Papa Bear.

Yea it could have been far worse for me, no doubt about it. I'm lucky that I have full coverage but it just sucks that it was my first car. Worst thing though is that I was on my way to Seb's show in NY.

Trying to find out how I go about getting a rental now.

Man I got hit by a girl that was either texting or driving to damn close behind last year. I dont understand why these people think the have the "powers" to text while driving. I never take my eyes off the road while Im driving, Im too scared too. The excuses I hear from people that do this is "I can drive and text and nothing will happen." Thats why if I dont trust your driving I dont dare go to sleep. I know one time I was following my friend somewhere and I saw him swerving as if he was drunk and I told the person riding with me that he must be texting and they said yep. Then when you tell them they were swerving and almost hitting stuff they deny it like their life is on the line. Its good your okay though all I had was a headache.

The girl needs to lose her driver's license for a while. I hope she was insured.

If she changes her story your insurance company can subpoena her phone records. They won't have a record of the SMS itself, but the phone number it went to

:lol ... a QR code in a forum signature.. thats a first ...

anyway... how did they know she was texting? was she dumb enough to offer the info?

I could see her, she was right in my line of sight texting the entire time the light was red and when I told the cop she admitted it. The light has cameras as the cop pointed out so she would have been screwed not to. That maybe why they put her in the police car, here in NJ it is illegal to use your phone while you drive. But I was already in the tow truck and leaving when they put her in the car so I have no idea what happened.

Oh and what makes it even crazier is, there are two ways out of the gas station I was at right before, the one I avoided would have put me right on the road I needed without having to make the turn at the light, but there is alot of traffic and a huge blindspot from the bush so I figured I'd be safe about it and use the light at the other exit. Bad call.
