Thanks. I think I can improve the paintjob some, especially the eyes. These were two of the failed casts (malformed ears) that I just wanted to practice on.

I think I must be in tune with some sort of geek zeitgeist, as there is a 4 page article on Doomlord in this month's SFX magazine!

Hey, man. I wrote the SFX piece in question and just wanted to say how utterly wonderful and awesome your sculpt is. If you ever expand your activities to making masks - let me know! You'll have an eager customer.

By the way, an excellent Doomlord reprint is available from a small Irish indie publisher called "Hibernia". Contact David on [email protected] if you want to buy a copy. Tell him I sent you.

Hi Fustar! I'm honoured to have you post in this thread, that article was wicked!

I've got the Hibernia re-print, which is great - except that they missed out a whole episode (the one where Doomlord changes back into his true form while snogging Morag at a party!). Shame that.

Plus what I really, really wanted (and still want) is a reprint of the original photo stories. Those are the stories that gave me nightmares as an impressionable 8 year old, and as you rightly point out in your article they have a certain everyday atmosphere that makes them genuinely creepy. Funny too of course, in retrospect!

I'd dearly love to make a mask, but I fear it may be beyond my skills. Or not, who knows. I might try one day.

In the meantime I'll gladly send you a finished Doomlord head to pop on your desk at work or whatever.

DSD,Glad you liked the piece. I was lucky enough to every issue of (new) Eagle at my disposal when writing it. Agree that a photo-strip reprint is well overdue. Or even one that features Eric Bradbury's long run - say the start of the Enok storyline. No signs (alas) that these will ever be forthcoming.

Would also LOVE to track down the makers of the mask (as it wasn't a custom job, it was bought off the peg in the West End) but neither John Wagner nor Alan Grant (nor, indeed, Dave Hunt - the editor) could recall precisely where they'd bought it, all those long years ago.

A Doomlord head? I cannot possibly refuse! I am honoured and promise to pop it on the blog. Will DM you on the details. Thanks!

Yes, I imagine it was just a generic "Alien" head of the type found in any fancy dress shop in the 80's, much like the equally generic ugly masks used in that terrible Manix story! It's just that this one happened to be horrible and scary, and now I'll never be able to buy one in Forbidden Planet. :(

I've got all the issues up to about June 1984, so need to buy the rest really. I think as a kid I stopped shortly after that, so I never met Enok!

Hi DSD,

Not sure if you ever got that PM I sent you? Would still love a head!
