That's literally how it ends.

Damn not even a SINGLE space dogfight was shown :gah:

Not even some Harkonen stealth bombers flying high in the atmosphere above the colosseum during the gladiator battle.

Is that how this ends?

I'm not sitting in a theater for 3.5 hours and NOT get a big boom-boom ending in a space movie!!!!
I’m driving to the Dolby cinema right now :rotfl

Can’t wait for the thrilling climax…

Is this some kind of weird "praise before the storm" thing? Where many people will suddenly change their view on this movie and start to pick it apart until they hate it... or at least find it tiresome, bloated and anti-CLIMACTIC!

It’s just not a franchise that focuses much on action. I think that’s fine because the rest of it is so good.

Okay I just decided to peruse RT to see exactly critics are saying to reflect its 93% positive score. Well comments like these are what are appearing in the "positive" reviews, lol: "Who knew it was possible to be so amazed and so bored at the same time?"

I'm still glad I saw it, and was pretty amazed and captivated throughout, especially seeing it on IMAX. But for every bloodless knife stroke I kept reminding myself that the past five hours of Part 1 and 2 were all going to pay off with like 20-30 minutes of jaw dropping sandworm versus emperor's army spectacle with accompanying space battle above and yeah that just did not pan out, lol.

Just got out and I have to say that regardless of the short battle the movie still holds up incredibly well and it truly is an amazing piece of cinema.

If I was the Denis this is how I would instantly make up for that short battle in 2.

Are you ready.

I would open 3 with the most massive mother of all sci-fi space battles ever put to film making ROTJ and RO seem like childs play.

Dune 2 short battle, PROBLEM SOLVED!

It can be saved!

I also loved the homage to Nolan/Zimmer TDKR percussion and chant Deshi Basra song when the Freman legion was advancing, that was sick especially in Dolby.

The ending was still exciting.

One day i’m going to say ***** instead of Denis lol

I just got back from watching it again, my third and last viewing.

My girlfriend loved it again.

I still like the film a lot. It's true that the final battle and even the last duel were quick, but I didn't mind it at all. I kind of enjoyed seeing the villains crapping their pants after what they did to House Atreides in the first film.

Seeing the Atreides flag fly in battle was pretty cool. Even Brolin's fight against Batista was quick but satisfying. A complete slaughter all around. I even like how the Fremen were burning all the Harkonnes bodies just like the Harkonness burned the Atreides in the beginning of the film.

Where I think the film slowed down a bit much was when Brolin shows up, then they go looking for the bombs, and Paul drinks the water of life. Basically, the leadup to the final battle was a bit slow. Still, I got chills after Paul "came back to life" and ascended to Lisan Al Gaib. The speech scene was good too. The actor did a fantastic job. The whole cast really.

Austin Butler, Javier Bardem, and Rebecca Ferguson are the standouts for me.

Weakest actor was Zendaya, imo. The whole film she looks like this  :lol

I still consider this film the LOTR of sci-fi films. Maybe not as good as LOTR, but up it's up there.

Yeah I didn't mind Zendaya in the first film but damn put her in the same movie as three powerhouses like Fergusson, Pugh, and Anya Taylor-Joy and no way was she gonna hold her own lol.

That’s a great way to look at it and something I had mentioned before…

Overwhelming force!

Turned Harkonen and Sardaukar forces into mashed clay.

Remember I’m coming from a non-book reading perspective and I liked that the mysterious south prophecy literary came out of the sand with overwhelming force.

The difficult battle should be what opens 3 setting up the stage for a grand finale.

I don’t rank this near TLOR trilogy movies. Not even top 30 SCI FI

I left this movie underwhelmed.

Oh well…

I am stoked to see Furiosa— the preview of that prior to Dune part 2 had me stoked!
