what if this liquid thing isn't oil at all? what if it is morbifical? maybe hot toys is trying to take the world-control by killing all their customers?

aaah, too much coffee isn't good for me :D

Will the oil keep coming out forever? what advanced science did Hot Toys use to let oil keep coming out without the figure disintegrating into oil completely?

Well the oil is going to damage the figure eventually if it keeps leaking the oil. It must be coming from somewhere. If its a chemical reaction then the suit will start to deterriorate eventually. Maybe not now. Maybe not tomorrow but definitely after the warranty is long and up. By that time Hot toys will say oh sorry your warranty is up we can't replace your figure. So sorry.... then what will we do??

just wanna give you a heads up that my DX bats' are starting to leak less and less now. i think the problem will get better in time for all of us. just dab away and don't wipe. good to go.

For all we know it may not even be that, it could be that there was far too much excess produced in the rubber due to the new material or the way it's manufactured. We just don't know. We can guess forever until we find out what happens in 6 months to a year or two. Since Hot Toys don't want to share.

if it keeps leaking the oil

Here's the thing, I don't know about others, but with me, once I stopped wiping it away, it built up to a certain point and just remained there, no increase, no decrease. The strange thing about it is it doesn't keep flowing out, at least on mine, once it peaked it stopped, but yet somehow if you wiped it away it would come back to the same point it was at before you wiped it, which is odd. You'd think if there was enough inside to keep building up on the surface, it would all just keep coming out, but it seems like once a layer has built up, it acts to contain the rest.

Lets just hope that is the case. I don't want to end up throwing mine out in 8 months because its become so brittle and cracking due to the leakage.

Well it's not to say whatever this material is won't be damaging, but at least from what I experience, it's not as though all the moisture within the suit is being sucked out. Given the thinness of the rubber, it actually seems like more residue builds up than could be contained within the rubber. It sucks but with HT's nonchalant response to the problem, this figure's shaping up to be enjoy it while you can, but don't be surprised if it's ruined in the not too distant future, the only consolation being that a 3rd Batman movie is in the works, might be a different suit again, but there's the potential for a figure as nice as this DX but made of more reliable materials than this one.

i bort it on march 1st and it arrived on the 8th - im in the uk. have u requested a tracking number? when u first see it its breathtaking. the oil is now drying so meh im not gonna moan about it like everyone else is. its amazing is this figure the mouth sculpts are my fav bit and the sticky bomb gun is incredible

Yeah I got my trackingnumber from him, but it doesn't help that much. it only says that it has been shipped on feb 27th. I think it's on the customs again :sick

This may have been discussed already as I have not read EVERY post on here - but a lot of them... Anyway - I don't have mine yet but if I had to guess, the factory just used too much of the lubricant used to apply the suit before it went on the truetype.

I took apart a Hot Toys Apollo Creed sometime back and it had a oil-like lubricant used to put the leg sleeve onto the body.

Even though it seems to be a pain in the abs, I doubt it will degrade the rubber.

But again - I'm jus' guessing here.

I'm just taking a guess at this but I can't see it getting ruined unless it magically breaks down on it's own but even that seems slim.

I just can't see mine getting ruined at least as I don't sit and move it like some do. Even my Takara is nearly 2 years old and the rubber is still in good condition as the day it was bought.

I think it may reach a point where it'll no longer seep. If I could just stop the bleeding left bicep. It too just oozes to a point and stops, no spillage or such just sits like a light jelly but I have to keep it dry as the kevlar detail was somewhat starting to slightly bubble from it. With the kitchen roll in place it's kept it dry and put the kevlar all flat again like day one. It being a single layer of rubber on it's own away from the arm with a coat of the kevlar tampo print thats obviously getting moist from it, softening it.

That was suspected since even the first TDK Batman has a slight oil on the base body, but the body and suit are dry underneath the affected areas on the DX.

I can't imagine this residue eating away at the suit either, it's not like it's acidic, but given that the residue and it's source are unidentified, it wouldn't surprise me to see some sort of serious negative end result because of it.

I don't think it'll eat away at the suit but deterriorate it. The oil must be coming from somewhere. And its obviously coming from the suit. The oil must be generating from the plastic in the suit. You know what they say about matter. It can't be created or destroyed. So it must be generating from the suit itself. And the fact that its pouring out like a faucet it must be using the content of. He suit to create the oil. But I'm no scientist, but that's my theory. So eventually IF it keeps leaking it'll exhaust the resources in the suit drying it out completely therefore making it dry and brittle.

sounds sensible to me

Well I and others speculated about the chemical breakdown of the materials used in the chest plate/silicone. Seems like that was a correct assumption. After all the oil has to come from someplace. As a physicist will tell u, nothing is created or destroyed, one material will become another material. Maybe this is why HT have been so quiet, they know whats going to happen.

Excellent post, Rorywan. It appears to me that in an effort to squeeze maximum flexibility out of the suit, the manufacturer has produced a material that is leeching badly due to contact with other surfaces. Just as a Band-Aid will draw a pimple to the skin's surface, the belt, shoulder pads, etc. are drawing out the petroleum in the suit pieces. The oils are attacking the surface detail where they are collecting, and this will more than likely continue. This is a bad situation, one that HT should address with their customers. I knew the first time I removed the HT OC Bats form the box that this figure would require constant maintenance to keep the suit fresh, and would still eventually become brittle or disintegrate. That's looking 20 years down the road, but this is inexcusable.

What's really sad is that the DC Direct BB and TDK figures will be around long after these have turned to goo.

I was watching a little of the dark knight before trying out a tv I just got and it made me think back how much I wanted this figure when it was first announced. Such a shame these problems have popped up with this figure and not one from the spirit. :lol
