DX09 KEATON BATMAN: residue in abdominal area, has yours shown signs of it?

O darn. I was hoping for a better figure for the price. I hope it doesn't happen with mine, still haven't recieved it. Is it fixable?

I had 3 DX02s

First Batch - Had stopped leaking, sold on eBay 2 months ago
Second Batch - Still leaks but at a reduced rate, damage is limited to behind the belt, being used in my armoury dio
Third Batch - used the parts to make my Medix, Medix is 100% leak free

They also leaked from the ribs too, remember?

True, however with it being transferred to a different body, there hasn't been any appearance of oil whatsoever on the ribs. Just checked again now as well.

Listen guys say what you want about your own figures. But let me tell you mine has oil. I sincerely hope the rest of you don't get the same problem. This oil, wiped off onto my finger like olive oil. It pooled. This is not new, it's exactly the ____ing same as my DX02 and melting Comedian. It's not good news for sure, but sorry that's the reality of it.
It is not sticky tape residue. It came back without the belt.

This is all the same pointless posting that started the DX02 disaster.
No interest in debating it with anyone, wasted enough of my time on that in the DX02 and Comedian threads. This is a fact: My 2 DX09 Batmen figures show sign of oils leakage. In fact if you go back to my original post when I opened my first Bats, you will see that I mentioned it had a slight oily residue under the cowl, out of the box. Others have noted this as well.

Now, I have no reason to lie about this, neither am I stupid. So that that as you will. Lets hope this thread just dies and this isn't a problem.

And yes it's still leaking today. After being wiped off for the last two days.

I don't understand why my post causes you so much angst. It's certainly not the intention. Nobody is calling you stupid or your figures issues make believe. We all just want to look at the facts we have and make sure we understand them before jumping to any conclusions, or in those like my case, canceling a figure. This seems reasonable to me.

It's probably the frustration of wash, rinse, repeat. Most of the naysayers, and those offering magical fixes don't understand or are ignoring the fact that all this has literally been tried before, repeatedly, ad nauseum, over the course of years with the DX02. At this point, honestly, anybody thinking they have a "fix" or discounting the problem as minor and those canceling as irrational, should really start on page 1 of the DX02 residue thread and hunker down for the long read. There's literally a mountain of education there, up to and including some choice information about how the suits are made and exactly why they are leaking/decomposing.

Ah, sorry Avenger, that wasn't aimed at you.
It's just that I'm seeing exactly the same type of posts and train of thought that went on for a year or more with the DX02.

The DX02/Comedian posts/attitudes were broken into several categories:

1: people who had leaking abs intent on over intellectualizing what they could do about it (nothing).

2: people who blamed anyone with a leaking figure for mishandling their figure.

3: people who repeatedly said. "why is everyone panicking over a little bit of oil"

4: people who claimed theirs were perfect (and later tried to sell them as such on ebay).

5: Hot Toys die hards who claimed it wasn't a wide-spread problem.

Then this conversation went around and around and around for 2 years (it's still going). That's why when I see people starting to add "CSI like" detective graphics to a photo I posted of MY leaking Batman 89 figure it just seems like Deja Vu. But trust me man, I am certainly not pissed with you or your post, infact I'm rather ambivalent to the whole thing, just resigned to the fact that Hot Toys really couldn't give a ____ about after sales and their fans. This should NOT have happened again. Once bitten, twice shy, third time.. no Batmobile..

48 hours since I noticed the shinny spot on mine, just rechecked it and nothing new.

I did however notice the glue issue off to the side. That was 110% not related to the shinny spot I found a couple days ago. The glue didn't just wipe of like the shinny spot did.

So...yeah. Thats all I have to report.

I read up on the DX02 thread and Comedian thread long before this figure was in production, just to know what all the fuss is about. Having seen that, I wouldn't dare dismiss anyone that's been through it. It definitely seems to be a reoccurring issue, that we all agree should have been fixed. I guess we can hope it's isolated to a small batch (another thing I'm sure you've heard before). I don't know that I'll cancel until I see more people with similar larger oil residue, or get one with oil issues. I always have that 30 day policy.

Did the kevlar decals feel stiff/crusty at all? the ones I sent back to Hot Toys in 2010, the decals went all rough. The rubber armbands stiffened up. Though the Keaton Batman is nowhere leaking to the scale of the first two batches of the DX02. Another plus appears to be, no paint. And certainly no decals.
