DX09 KEATON BATMAN: residue in abdominal area, has yours shown signs of it?

I'm pretty much with DiFabio on this one.

I don't doubt there are members that have had some sort of oily residue on their figures, but I think we need to hear more. I would like more photographic evidence. I think those with oil need to speak up more about whether the oil comes back after wiping it off, how often they wipe it, etc.

Is it possible that we will see pics of hideously melted abdomens like there was with the DX02? Yes, of course it is, but it seems a little presumptuous to assume it will be that bad or as wide-spread.

Although, Hot Toys has a record of taking short-cuts (in addition to other questionable business practices) I would be surprised if they took a step back from where they were at with the DCD batch of the DX02. As has been said, even that batch leaked to some extent, but it was greatly improved. In my case, I had a little darkening of the bi-cep armor and that's it. To go from that, back to a deteriorating melted mess seems very unlikely to me.

Nice.
I sincerely hope what goes around doesn't come around. I really do fellows.

Best of luck, I actually expected a lot more from experienced members such as yourself, who have witnessed the entire dx/comedian/mars attacks/sarah Connery/ed209/Rambo experience. You are sounding exactly like the posts you _____ed about on the dx02 threads.
Yup I was eating buttery toast whist handling my two DX09 sets. Jesus. Over and out guys..

Peace

Out of here.

Rubber does more than tear itself apart or leak, it tears us apart as a community and makes us weep.

What do you expect Rory? You know a division was bound to happen when there's so few experiencing problems and so many that aren't.

EDIT:

FYI, I don't think anyone here is saying that the residue on your figure is butter or fake or that you're full of ____. Nobody said that, nor implied it. The only person that hasn't been level headed here is TheMayor.

All I would expect is a mutual sense of respect and understanding that other collectors are dealing with something that you may not be at the moment. I at no point took any panic mode about the set overall. I love these figures.

To say one has heard enough of the problem, because they personally haven't (yet) experienced it is both small minded and insulting to the intelligence/experience of fellow collectors.

Best of luck.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think you're being a little over-sensitive. It's pretty apparent your figure has a problem and I'm sorry that it does, but I believe we all want to see how widespread the problem will be with this figure as well. It's too early to tell if this is going to be another DX-02, or if it will be a problem for a select few unlucky collectors.

That being said, I, for one, appreciate your documenting the problem you've had with yours and I'm sure others do as well. It's kept me informed on what to look out for when mine arrives.

And I totally understand that. I'd hate to be in another collectors shoes.

We've all got to experience this for ourselves though. I hope you don't think that I'm implying that there isn't a problem with yours or others, I'm not. I just don't think what we're seeing here is the breaking down of the suit like the DX 02 and Comedian.

Where is everyone in Asia, posting on Facebook that their figures are defective? In 2010, there were collectors getting 5 or 6 replacements. I think we should give it a little time.

To say one has heard enough of the problem, because they personally haven't (yet) experienced it is both small minded and insulting to the intelligence/experience of fellow collectors.

I haven't heard enough of the problem, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on like everyone else. It's confusing for everybody because there are no straight answers.

Look, I've considered the fact that perhaps I'm in denial and just don't want to deal with a day where my figure leaks as well. But judging by the activity of this thread, I think it was premature. I want some SWELLING, BLOATING, LEAKY, OILY torsos, so glossy that I can see my reflection in it, like the DX 02. Maybe that will happen, but for the time being, it looks like a little residue.

Maybe that little residue will get worse, time will tell. I'll eat my own ____ when it happens and cover humbly in my own secretion, while everyone points and laughs, "TOLD YA SO DIFABIO" while I hold my head in shame.

I was responding to Maglor's rather surprising post. In which he basically says he has heard enough until it has been substantiated to his satisifaction. Best of luck with that.

I mean what the hell?, either we have a trusting well versed community here or we don't.

And now seriously, I'm leaving the leaking DX09 thread ( it does ).

Honestly, I was not trying to start anything, and for the record I never said your name in that post. I would like follow-up posts from anyone who has the oil problem.

Indeed. The Mayor aside, Rory's pics speak for themselves, and I have no doubt the pictures he posted are real.

Who said they 'heard enough'? My point is I want to hear more.

Rory started this dialogue and that's a good thing.

The DX02 thread was full of posts with people posting pics of the oil reappearing, and everybody would say how often they were having to wipe the residue off of the figure. That's all I'm asking for here.

Could you just address that? I mean, when I discovered the problem with the glue on mine (actually you spotted it first) I kept on posting about it until I resolved the problem. I haven't commented on it lately because there is no longer any residue on my figure at this time. If oil does show up though you can be sure I will document it here. As the one who started this thread, don't you feel moved to do the same?

I never said I needed your initial post 'substantiated to my satisfaction'. I don't mean to imply that you are being deceptive.

Here's my post again. This time with diferent emphasis (but the same words):

I'm pretty much with DiFabio on this one.

Do you understand where I'm coming from at all? I didn't say your name. I didn't call you a liar. Just give us an update. That's all I'm asking for.

And again, that applies to anyone who's experienced the problem. As a community, lets keep each other informed. :peace

DiFab, this is literally, verbatum, what happened with the DX02. People having minor spotting and everybody calling them paranoid and brushing off the issue like it was nothing because theirs or pics of other members' hadn't shown leaks like that. Just looking at the poll gives you a good idea of the story. Look at the stats and keep in mind that MOST who said theirs wasn't leaking or showed little to no signs later posted that they were experiencing leaking.

Nice.

You'd probably be better off ignoring him. Maglor's skull is rather thick when it comes to this kind of stuff. With the DX02, he posted in the thread that members shouldn't be so down about their leaky figures but instead should be happy for him for getting one that was leak free. While he did apologize there and bail to the regular DX02 thread it would appear that that lesson was forgotten as it seems that behavior's repeating itself in this thread as well. :huh :lol

As to updates, this isn't something that magically appears overnight or has symptoms that manifest immediately with every figure. Again, look to the poll and you'll see that most didn't even have signs of it at first, and it wasn't until well into/after the DX02 release that we realized just how big this issue was. Hell, look how long it took for the Comedian's issue to be discovered.

Figured you'd be after me again at some point. No lesson has been forgotten. I'm just looking for full disclosure.

I'm not in denial any more than DiFabio. If the figure leaks it leaks. If it's gonna turn to goo it's gonna turn to glue. If it happens to my figure, so be it. As I've said, I won't be posting any ":('s" when it happens 'cos we are all pretty much in the same boat at this time. We either have a leaky figure or we're waiting to see if ours leak.

As to updates, this isn't something that magically appears overnight or has symptoms that manifest immediately with every figure.

This may very well be valid. I might just be being impatient.

I was there Nam, I was there! It wasn't minor spotting though. :lol

My memory has been a little off on the subject and I have been brushing up on it, trying to prep myself for problems, but I really don't think this is the same thing. I'm probably wrong but I swear crOw was one of the first to have oil on his DX 02 Batman, and it was all over his ab plates. That ____ would not stop leaking and boy was it abundant.

There was that POS V!C guy too, stating that everyone was full of crap about the head/ear deformities to the peeling and oil and that Hot Toys was perfect. More and more people from all over the globe started seeing this within weeks. It wasn't even out for a month. Those people you mentioned, the ones that brushed off the incident did so at a time where it was VERY obvious that there was an issue.

Do I need to recount the hare and tortoise story for you children? :lol

Only time will tell whether this is a major or minor issue, if folks want to go ahead and take their chances more power to them.

This may very well be valid. I might just be being impatient.

Hey now, you of all people know I haven't even turned it on yet. :lol The problem with your posting though is that if that's the case, and you are just being impatient, it's coming across more as a distrusting badgering, than a sickening worry. And it's not something you're going to discover in a matter of days. In most cases, it was weeks, months and even upto a year or more.

I think we can all agree that V!C was an a-hole.

Yup. He's got one thing above me but in this case, I'd like to keep it that way. He had a whole infraction named after him. :lol

Looks like Rory "quit" Sideshow, eh, he'll be back, they always come back. Nobody was that hard on him, worst guy in here was TheMayor.

It's confusing for everyone, but yeah, time will tell. I think we've all been pretty supportive and have acted appropriately though. This hasn't been as crazy and divided as DX 02.

I think we can all agree that V!C was an a-hole.

Seriously. The dude was pathological.

So you don't think that the DX02 thing was any different than this in the beginning? DiFabio has a better memory than me:

I'm probably wrong but I swear crOw was one of the first to have oil on his DX 02 Batman, and it was all over his ab plates. That ____ would not stop leaking and boy was it abundant.

That really does sound different than this to me.

Seriously? :lol What infraction?

Its sad when people take things too far. Especially when the discussion revolves around toys. I feel bad for everyone here. Maybe the next time someone wants to take and unnecessary shot at someone, they'll think twice.

And PLEASE don't think this is directed at any one in particular.

I read Maglor's initial post as it was intended. I think Rory just took it the wrong way. Rory, he just wanted an update on your figures as well as others who are experiencing the problem. This thread kind of got derailed for a few days and everyone is nervous about the Batman. We all want ____ing answers now even though their aren't any. Put your pumpkin head back on we need you.
