Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - DX T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

I'm starting to think that the lack of accessories/features on this version of the T-800 might be due to Hot Toys having too many releases all at once. They're announcing new figures every week, so their development staff must be under a large amount external pressure to get everything done.

Hot Toys needs to expand or die :lecture

  • Delays
  • Further Delays on already delayed pre-orders

Probably the thing I'm most excited about here is the chip-removal aspect which most people are going 'WTF' at.

I will admit, this is growing on me even though I essentially have no use for it other than admiring it in person a few times.

There's something about it, almost like the Keaton Batman's eyes/black eye make up that makes it more than just a simple headsculpt.

With Batman, it gives off the illusion that, yeah, it's actually Michael Keaton, as Bruce Wayne, in a Batman cowl. With this Terminator, the scalp and chip removal feature really makes it seem that under this figure there's a T-800 endoskeleton.

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - DX T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

He shouldn't even come with sunglasses or a shotgun. They could have easily filled those places with an axe, an endo arm and/or computer chip in the Cyberdyne containers or the gas grenade launcher.

:exactly: :goodpost:

Particularly since every weaon he comes with cn be bought elsewhere, the MM1 Gas Launcher would be unique to this.

Are there any 1/6 Axes out there?

I'm a sucker for any Terminator action figure so yes I will. Its not going to be the most exciting one obviously since I pretty much have all this already. I'm hoping the criticism gets to them and they do something about that head at least, back to the drawing board completely ideally. Probably the thing I'm most excited about here is the chip-removal aspect which most people are going 'WTF' at!

Kinda the same as you the T2 T800 is my fave Terminator, i've got the original but alway wanted a second for both the Galleria and Cyberdyne displays, i can do that with this.

So i'm thinking i'll get it, will probably wait for in-hand pics of this and EB's BD version.

I love the chip too, it's just cool looking, not useful without Sarah Connor but stiil cool.

i think the old sculpt is 100 times better then this new one!

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - DX T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

In general, re-releases tend to bring down the prices of the originals. In the end, the only value that the original releases will retain above MSRP, is sentimental value. I know this because I've been burned a few times... :monkey2

I know what you mean, but how many figures really suffer from this?

TDK V1 Batman is still going strong even though the "superior" DX figure was released. The Original Costume Batman still pulls in way more than it's MSRP even with the Toy Fairs/SDCC Begins Batman out there.

Hell, V1 "Muppet" Joker used to go for $100 or less, but even with the DX 01 out there, it brings in $200 on the secondary market! The Bank Robber is bringing in dough too.

Not sure how it is with the Iron Man rereleases but the older figures don't seem to be suffering.

Is there a psych-ward Sarah Connor?

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - DX T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

HA Ha HA, so much for the guys wanting $400 plus for the first T2 T800. Now everyone can just buy the new one and get everything it has and more.

Well not a black shirt, roses, a rosebox, an endo arm, multiple clean hands and a better head.

More or less.. Original will always be more valuable. Less made and better HS.

The original had a second run so even though I'm sure it will still have less made I dot think it will be that much less than this release

Fantastic news for Terminator fans! This really makes the sleepy EB sculpt look weak in comparison - and it's in 1/6! :lol ^_^ Now we know that a full BD version is on the way - probably an MMS release.

Irony = nobody buys this because they either have the MMS T2 T-800, or they're waiting on the BD version. HT don't bring out the BD version because nobody bought this one.

Well, the prices do tend to level out. But, right now, Hot Toys is essentially mass-producing their figures, so you'd be hard-pressed to see them actually sell-out like they used to. Given the trend that we've seen from Capt. America, Superman, Jack Sparrow, Classic Pred, etc, the new T-800 should be around for a very long time in retail (and especially on Sideshow). I don't think that will be good for the current after-market price of the original T-800.

i REALLY think the PERS on this one are throwing it off from the pics HT have released.
they really also should have included ALL the stuff from the first release PLUS the BATTLE DAMAGED head from the steel mill scene and the smashed arm....which im sure they MIGHT do at some stage-here was a real opp to get that out now,but alas not to be.Shame....the only thing that could really help sell this even more is add the smashed up arm AND the BD head!!!!

Cmon HT-do a HT Thor and put those 2 in as a secret bonus for us!!!!
