 I got mine today, and I have to admit I am a bit underwhelmed - but I don't know why?!?! :huh

The piece is quite light, it is rather dark; and well I don't know the wingspread is impressive but the piece doesn't make a huge impact in my display. I will keep it, but I am not ga-ga over it.

Well you've just said what I was trying to say in my last post, not sure if it's the paint job or what but its not giving me the wow factor either like I thought it would, am I getting too old for this collecting stuff??? :lol

It's probably the fact that you've seen so many pics of other peoples already. You get so hyped over it that when you finally get it you have that feeling of seen it before, it's not new to you. That's why i try to not see too many pics of other peoples before i get mine, because i want to study and appreciate my own when i get it.

Yes Frodoeyes you are right I think so I am closing my eyes from now on!! Ok everyone don't post your pictures on here anymore you are ruining it for the rest of us :rotfl Just kidding............. :D

I think that it is the overall size of the piece, and while the wingspan is quite large; the overall piece isn't. I honestly can't place it, it just isn't as impacting as I expected it to be.

It's really the paint job, it is so sub-par when compaired to the earlier pics we've seen.

I am also suprised the dio is not that much bigger than Weta's piece.

Let me know when SS rolls out the FB LSB.

#816 but I've had higher numbers

Mines right around that #806 I think. Haven't opened it yet as I've got no place to put it.

Matt is some it due to this not being a SSW piece? That seems to be an issue with people. Not me but ya know.

#120 showed up today in perfect condition!:banana SS really went all-out to package this piece extremely well. I don't think I've ever been so careful opening anything before - I was scared stiff! I've been waiting for this dio since the very first hints SS threw at us a year ago and it has lived up to expectations and way more! SS really rocks!:rock2

No not at all, as I have some strictly SS LOTR pieces that I positively LOVE - Lurtz, Aragorn, Gollum v Frodo, etc ...

This just is bland, it has nice movement, but is perhaps just a bit too small for one to really appreciate it; when displayed with most of my collection it almost gets lost. I would compare it to the effect that the "Sir, droids" or Sluggo dio have - they are fine on their own (and I have both of those as well).

The eagle on mine is painted quite nicely actually, but the backside of the Fellbeast's wings are bland, and well somewhat boring. The mouth and face don't look bad at all though, and I am quite pleased with how the RW came out. The base could certainly have had something more going for it, and would have been a more fluid composition if it were taller, you don't get any appearance of flight with how low this sits to the base. Added height would have really given this a nice pop.

Maybe it will grow on me some, I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.

Look at the bright side...they're not purple! :D

Got ya. I haven't opened mine yet to really gather any kind of a thought on it. Yet, I doubt I will dislike it but ya never know.

Good points, Matt. The lack of height was something that I noticed as well from the photos. It's something that I wish had been also added to the Frodo vs Gollum piece. There would have been added drama and visual impact with a higher "cliff" on that piece. I hope when I get my Eagle/FB piece that I don't think the same. But so far, from the pics that I've seen, I'm really liking the movement, the sculpts and even the paint apps, for the most part. Can't wait for mine to arrive. I like how it will fit in with the other SS/Weta pieces.

Well I "perched" mine on top of a curio, just slightly with the base slightly towards the edge; the wings hang over quite a bit and it does give it a nice illusion of height.

That is one thing I do like about the Gandalf/Balrog, the height on that piece was great.
