PALPATINE CRUSADER!!!!
Seriously, I know there have been many posts in here about how crappy Ebay has become, but today I have seen an all time low in my experiences. I have had the same account since Ebay started and now have 200+ positive feedback. This past weekend I listed one of my Hot Toys Predators for sale...I tried to make the description as clear as possible of what my terms of the sale were in regards to the item, what's included, and the shipping. Well, Ebay asks for the size and weight of the box so they can put a shipping calculation in the item description for the buyers. I circumvented this by putting clear as day for bidders to message me Actual Shipping cost since I require insurance on the full transaction price as well as signature confirmation.
I guess none of this matters because the winning bidder decided that he doesn't care and bid anyways. Afterwards, I asked if he read the description and was fine with the terms. He replied that he was fine with it, but felt the UPS quote was expensive and would like me to get an actual price from UPS, and I did. Turns out the price on Ebay is actually cheaper than the price UPS gave me. I told the buyer this and said not to worry about the difference and that he needs only to pay me what Ebay quoted him for despite a $15 difference I'll have to cover.
Apparently he's not happy with that price either and stands that he doesn't believe me that it costs that much to ship something from the East Coast to the West Coast and that he doesn't need it to be fully insured. At this point my patience is starting to get strained and told him to re-read the item description and that the shipping insurance is NOT optional. He replied by saying "This is absurd, in my 10 years of buying and selling on Ebay I have never seen shipping prices that high, nor will I pay them."
So really I can only imagine that the buyer will post negative feedback stating that I'm overcharging for shipping costs despite this is the price that Ebay has listed. What are my options?? What happened to the "bidding is a contractual agreement" portion of the buyer/seller agreement???? Is it really this bad that after bidding on an auction that the buyer can back out at any time because they don't like the price that THEY bid for??? Can I as a seller do anything about this??
