Well, I received mine yesterday... and I am a little let-down by it.
The size is perfect, and I get that it is the stunt shield replica and all, but my biggest gripes are:

- The feel of the shield. Guess I did not know what to expect when I opened the box, but it feels weird.
Not plasticky, not metal, just odd. Almost like a wooden block.

- The star. Again, the star. Mine has next to no detailing left inside the star. The lines are almost completely
covered up by the paint, and the little circles are even less pronounced than the lines.
That is a huge part of the detail of Cap's shield, and it look bad up close. Really bad on mine.

- The grooves between the color breaks are not painted the best on mine, they are acceptable,
but I would prefer cleaner lines.

- As brought up many times before by others, the wall mount device is pure crap, plain and simple.
Would never display it with that.

I don't hate the shield by any means, but I will get my KA one in and possibly sell this one.
I wish I had a better review of it, and maybe I am too picky, but this is just my honest take on it.

so in otherwords, the shield is not worth the price of admission?

If I did not have a preorder at the price I do for the KA shield, this would be my only shield. No doubt about it.
I don't hate the shield by any means. The thing I can't stand is the star detail. It is right there and should have been done better.
Whether it was wider/deeper grooves that would not have been covered up by the silver paint, or the paint application itself.

It is accurate in terms of material and build of the stunt shield. Just comes down to the details.

My man the shield did not have prominent detail in the star in the Avengers. The EFX looks as it did on screen in the last two acts of that film and TWS. There is no "stunt" shield look per se, that EFX is THE shield in the Avengers and TWS, take a look at my post on page 205 (iirc) that breaks it down. There was also a video someone posted with the propmaster on AoU that explains the shield looks and materials.

Like you said Y4NK33 PL4N3T, the EFX looks killer. I really don't understand how folks are willing to pay $500, $600, $1000 for a shield and not truly know what they are getting (or want). The EFX is not simply "the stunt shield". While born from the stunt shield, the fiberglass shield created by Studio Art and Technology that the EFX shares a lineage with is the screen used shield/look that replaced the aluminum shields from The First Avenger. This is how the shields looked in most of the Avengers, The Winter Solider, as seen below, and seemingly Age of Ultron.

If one likes the hyper shine/metallic First Avenger shield, that is totally cool. To be perfectly honest that shield with the prominently grooved star and subtle bullet strike battle damage is my absolute favourite. Having said that the aluminum customs by the likes of Chris Fields are the only ones that come close to achieving this look. To call or infer that the LICENSED EFX is in someway substandard or inferior in anyway is uninformed and unfair IMHO.

I will just repost this in light of today's fervour ;)

To me, it looked like it had enough detail in the movies that it showed up. The efx shield I got has the paint globbed over thick
enough that all the lines filled in about 85%. If those grooves were not filled with paint, it would be perfect. That should have
been addressed by efx before they finished all of them. That's all I am saying.

The efx shield looks nice. I would never call it "substandard or inferior" to any other one.
I knew what I was getting when I bought it, but the paint on mine is not as good as some I have seen
pictures of. I bought it because of the edition size, cast from original prop status, and because of the pedigree
of efx as a company.

I do however like the grooved star... the hyper metallic look is not for me, though.
Like I said, the only thing missing on this efx shield is the star lines being clear.
If that issue was not prominent on mine, I would be completely satisfied.

Could you post some pics?

The paint is not globbed onto the shield like you make it sound, if it were the rest of the spun metal detail grooves would be filled in as well. The details in the grooves of the star are soft due to the molding process.

Um... yes, it is globbed into the grooves, causing them to completely disappear in areas.
You can clearly see it when you look at it. The rest of the shield grooves are really deep, so they would not fill in.

So you do agree that the details in the star grooves are too soft to begin with? If they were so softly detailed the paint would not be an issue.

The grooves were not cut deep enough into the face of the shield. I realize they were not pronounced
as much on the stunt shields, but taking the paint into account, they should have made them deeper to compensate.

Once they were done as shallow as they were, the paint filled them in and took the details away.

Dude you need to stop referring to this as a "stunt shield". This look replaced the aluminum ones after act 1 of the Avengers as the defacto shield. There is no aluminum "hero shield" after TFA. It was used to create this shield and retired after one scene in the Avengers.

Off my soap box - I totally agree with you, to an extent, that the grooves were not cut deep enough or finished clean enough after the paint was applied on the EFX. Both the lines and the circular accents should have been more refined IMHO. The King Arts is way to far the other way though to be accurate for any of the screen used shields. The star does look good on the KA in an "idealized" sense however.

Those pics just sold me, very nice

Yeah, CowboyTsunami's pictures are awesome and show you exactly what you get out of the box/bag. "If" one is disappointed by eFX's offering it is simply because they envisioned something this piece is not, and was never sold as (TFA shield), in their minds eye.

Sorry, I honestly thought that is what everyone is calling the efx version. It is not meant to be degrading
To the shield... I just thought the hero shield was the first avenger version and the efx was based on the stunt fiberglass shield.
So that is my bad.

I don't want the crazy chrome look of the first avenger shield... But I would like one that feels like metal
And has the detail and heft to it.
