And here's a comparison with an all aluminum shield that I have. Since the eFx one is fiberglass, it's a lot thicker, and the paint has been applied to give an impression of spun aluminum. There are actual lines in the paint to give off that effect. Does it look like aluminum? No, but it is an exact replica of the shield from Avengers, which was all fiberglass.

Here's a close up of the center star. The grooves are not as deep as I expected. They don't show up very well in pictures, but are visible in person. You can really see the that the way they painted this gives off a great impression of spun aluminum. No idea how they did that.

Thanks for the pictures! I think it looks great but I am probably in the minority that likes the duller spun metal look opposed to the shiny metal real aluminum look. I can't wait until next Wednesday!

I wonder if the grooves in the star could be very lightly highlighted with a black wash or a Gundam panel line paint marker to help give it a little more depth.

Could you give an idea how deep it is from the top of the shield to the floor if laying flat? I think I am going to build a display case to mount it to the wall and want to get an idea of how deep the case will need to be.

I don't know much about theirs, but think folks thought metal would be much heavier then fiberglass, I think in the end, the weight will be very much the same. So it comes down to.....do you want a limited edition, true to form replica or an idealized version (quality still to be seen) ?

Yeah, I'm still waiting for someone to cancel theirs on BBTS so I can order. :wink1:

Thanks so much for this pic. I was wondering how well the indents in the star came out and I am fairly happy with it. The set shots of capt and his shield on AOU had the star with barely visible marks, I think these are just about right

And here are some pics of the top of the shield. One thing that I didn't realize before getting this in hand was just how thick this sucker is.

Wow you really don't see the thickness in the films "that's what she said" ;). But seriously this looks nice! How does the wall hanger look? It comes with something to hang it correct?

The wall hanger was left in the box, since I'm going to try to find a stand for it a la King Arts. Seems pretty solid to me. Looks like an upside down "Y." I was surprised that it does NOT come with the traditional plaque holder, however. The wall hangar has three prongs (2 bottom ones say "A" and the top middle one says "MARVEL."). The top prong is supposed to double as a plaque holder. You can either stick your plaque over the "MARVEL" logo (not a bad idea), or just use that prong itself as the plaque holder if you're not using the wall hanger. (The prongs are transparent acrylic with the symbols painted on.)

I'll take a picture of it tonight, along with the instructions for hanging.

Thanks a lot! It's very appreciated. I was lucky enough to get a pre order with BBTS and have been anxious to see some in hand photos.

I just think they'll keep making Cap shields forever now so there's probably no need to ever pay crazy prices. His standard iconic shield will never change in appearance...

I wouldn't count on that

Based on the Hot Toys promo pics of the latest Cap, his shield bracket/handle system has been completely redesigned

Getting it from retailer so I won't be first. But the day I do get it, it'll be up. :)

Sounds good man, I look forward to it. I really like your videos and your Instagram pictures.

Btw, there is a video of a guy unboxing his shield on the eFx fb page, together with some pictures from other users.

Anyone planning on cancelling theirs on BBTS? If so, please letmeknow, I would like to place an order, thanks!
