Nice ! :hi5:

Gung Fu is either a real Bruce Lee expert, or has every story of Bruce Lee on the internet bookmarked for quick viewing :wink1:

A little bit of knowing and of course internet book markings (allthough one have to be careful about believing everything you find on the internet as one usually do not know the source and anyone can make an assumption or even post lies...)

The reason I knew about a Judo gi-ed Bruce was mainly because I have seen those pictures before - first time was back in the 80's or 90's in the American martial arts magazine "Black Belt", and the secound time was in Taky Kimura's book about Bruce.

That story about Bruce wearing a gui is interesting, hope we can see a picture. I was aware that he did train in Judo for a short time here in the US but I can't recall ever seeing him in a full gui :monkey1

Actually after Bruce passed away and Linda took back Shannon and Brandon back to USA - she put Brandon in a Judo class. Of course Brandon's first martial arts teacher was his father...

It's one of several figures I want to re-shoot for my new thread in the "Show Your Shelves" forum. And BTW, Arnie sent me an unusual bonus item -- a face blank. That is, an extra face sculpt (no hair), unpainted, to show the raw sculpt. When I look at the latest sculpts from Yulli and YJ, it's very clear how much they owe Arnie. I've never photographed that blank. But I will.

Yup, and I have one, inscribed by Arnie. I bought it directly from him back before Enterbay existed. :wave
Wow, that's awesome :rock

I think you have the rarest BL figure that I know of, from any boardie :clap Please keep me updated if you take pics of the face blank, & also, the figure itself :D That face blank has me curious :D

Here is something about celebrity signatures, that you all might find interesting :D

Here is Elvis Presley's signature. When mirrored, you can make out the word's "The King".
elvispresleym.jpg

Here is JRR Tolkien's (author of 'The Lord Of The Rings') signature. When mirrored, multiple times, you can make out the word's "Lord" & "Ring's" from part of his signature.
jrrtolkien.jpg

Now here's Bruce Lee's signature. When mirrored, guess what word's you can make out from his signature? ..... "Kung Fu"

Actually Larry, there's one more that kinda goes with it: the re-sculpted 18" Art Asylum figure. That one came from Art of Toy (Robin Kwok), which makes it both a true artifact and an object of doubtful provenance. I have no way of knowing whether Kwok re-cast the figure. But I have one, and it's very rare. As you can tell, I was hooked the first time I saw a photo of Arnie's work, and for the longest time couldn't even learn his last name. Kwok guarded his prisoner well.

Yes, I must..set...up...the...light box...soon...

 Wow. Compared to you, I might as well be collecting little green army men :lol

Nice collection Ahgnus !

I actually think it looks more like it is a Judo gi - which would be a better choice in my opinion as there are some pictures existing of Bruce Lee actually wearing a Judo Gi. In fact Bruce took some Judo lessons from a Judo instructor named Shuzo Kato for 3 months period at the University of Washington (two of Bruce's students: Taky Kimura and Jesse Glover had also been Judo students of Shuzo Kato), and Bruce had also trained with another Judo-ka named Fred Kato (a friend of Shuzo Kato), and a well-known Judo-ka and wrestler - and Hollywood stuntman/coordinator - Gene LeBell.

In one of the picture Bruce is actually even doing a Judo-throw in a backyard...

By the way, welcome to this forum Ahgnus !

Thank you Gung Fu! You are correct when you said that it looks more like a Judo Gi. It IS a Judo Gi!

And when I mentioned "Bruce Lee experts" in my first post, I meant YOU! :lol I think I've learned more about Bruce Lee from reading your posts than from any where else. Thanks for all the info.

2] Where did you get that incredible 1/6 Gi from, Ahgnus?

I got it from ebay. As I mentioned, it is a Judo Gi from ACI's Judo Coach release with bad Vladmir Putin head sculpt.

Great collection ahgnus :rock
Thank you Y4NK33 PL4N3T!

I found this picture of Bruce Lee today.

And it inspired me to do a quick bash. It doesn't seem like anyone is parting out EB ETD BLs any more, and I had to make with what I had laying around the house. I think it came out okay. I would love to get a hold of the authentic Gung Fu gloves tho.

Yeah SAB, I actually thought "What the hell...." when I saw Bruce wearing a gi for the first time.... Bruce was a very complex man - but that is what I never get tired of him
smiley.gif

I have to agree with GungFu here.. BL is a very complex man.. can't remember where i read them from but the various types of martial arts that he ever had a chance to learn, he mastered, and applied them to his own form. That anyone can ever do that is just mind-blowing.

"We need another Bruce Lee" :horror yes we all wish that someone like that will come along again but i feel that there will NEVER be another one like him.

maybe you should look for black trunks or underwear instead, it looks more like that diaper thingy that sumos have on.

still, its a pretty nice one!

*my eyes are deceiving me it is a black trunk! i was distracted by the doll stand that wrapped around at the waist.

Do you guys mind sharing photos of your BL figures?

Edit: I hope this works. I uploaded pics to FB, tagged them to Bruce Lee public fan page, and linked them.

Just to let you know that the signature in that picture is similar to Bruce's though it is fake.

Actually these are not really Gung Fu gloves. They where originally Kendo gloves that Bruce took to use in his training in USA some years before moving to Hong Kong - and doing "Enter the Dragon". He used these Kempo gloves to fit his needs when going all out in sparring and also having more use of these gloves than compared to a pair of boxing gloves. The reason for this was that he wanted to be able to do open hand attack, grabs, locks etc.
