One step at a time, a-dev.

I am also not that impressed by a "Girlfriend Beauty Doll" line, but they have to look to their market. Collectors of action figures are predominantly straight male, so maketing this as a line of attractive females will presumably appeal to them. And, by calling them dolls, they are presumably also targetting the fashion doll crowd, who are predominantly straight female but are also looking for attractive women to dress up, lead by whatever is currently deemed attractive in the fashion world. So, presumably this will appeal to them as well.

I am overlooking the name and hoping for some real women with a bit of character and life to the headsculpt and no vapid, *** doll expressions, and this looks promising.

All good points. :goodpost: If you're a woman I admire your objectivity about it. As a collector of mainly film characters I'm unlikely to buy into this line but if they happen to make any figures with headsculpts I could use I'll go for it. A Sigourney Weaver one sure would be appreciated - and since they wouldn't have to package her with guns there wouldn't be that particular obstacle that theres been to getting Sigourney figures in the past. Of course for fans of the Alien films you'd need very particular hairstyles though.

I am transmale, so probably have a rather particular perspective on the whole sexism issue :)

Personally, I have no fem figs as nothing has yet come out that isn't pushing the woman-as-pea-brained-***-object thing. And I want some. Yes, the headsculpt shown is definitely of an attractive woman, but she isn't wearing corny, 1070s **** star make up and looks as though she could fill out her own tax self assessment return. More of those and I might buy my first fem fig.

The truth is that they won't make cool sci fi or action film girlfreinds... just lame Japanese Maxim type models.

Current 60 + year old Sigourney weaver is not a girlfriend... and they won't be doing any Ellen Ripleys :(... so the point is moot...

the best we can hope for is some heads that end up being decent for bashes... but the chances of any modern 20something year old modern actresses being in something that's pic enough to bash are slim to none.

I'm forced to agree. I mentioned Sigourney as Ripley is a female character I really want in the collection and other than Sarah Connor, who I have, there aren't any others in my fave genre and films that I can think of. As you say though she wouldn't seem to fit the title of this line - certainly not the 'Girlfriend' bit.

The first Girlfriend has been announced..yet I have absolutely no idea who she is :p :lol Cute as hell though!
:monkey3

she is a Hong Kong actress and also model. She born in Taiwan.
She is pretty and perseverance lady.

I think the figure of this pretty is target more on Asia market, especially Chinese. But soon, may be next girl will be a US/European lady ... who know

I wonder how many people are willing to pay $200 for a 1/6 scale Chinese movie starlet??

But, she's wearing a nurse hat, so they'll probably sell 2,000.

Can't wait for the HT line of hot Asian starlets!!

There is a language barrier involved in the reaction here to the title for the line. This first figure probably won't generate any more interest among English-speaking collectors than, say, Hot Toys' Friend release or its upcoming Comic Masterpiece Series Saeko Nogami. But the development of a female body from a company that has made some excellent figures is a very good thing for everyone who has a custom female head waiting for a body. Say, the Iminime Selene or Amanda Seyfield heads, or the upcoming Kuzik Aeon head, or the Juliet Burke custom here at SSF, or any of Trevor's female Firefly characters.

With any luck, Enterbay will eventually start releasing carded bodies, as they have with the RM line. Or perhaps more to the point, like Hot Toys Truetypes.

So did EB not release the female character from Dragonball Z? Pretty good looking figure, even if it was from a horrid film :lol

I think it looks interesting, and I bet there is a bigger market out there than the average fanboy/sci-fi/comic geek could possibly imagine. There are web sites and forums dedicated to the collection of female figures, and a metric tonne of collectors will lap these up... at the right price.

:lol

I collect fashion dolls so if these are similar but look more realistic, I might be interested. Just as long as they don't look creepy. :lol

Plus if they do some Hollywood starlets that I like it would be hard to pass them up. :)

lolz at ppl getting #@$@#$% just because Enterbay is not releasing a celebrity they know. They are clearly targeting the asian market with this release and will probably go for the more popular ones next.

So be patient, wait & see if this line turns out any good.

You know what? This line would be pretty successful if they did the leading ladies from all of the big action films.

Imagine an Enterbay:
Natalie Portman for your SW/Thor line
Gwyneth Paltrow for your IM line
Emma Stone for your Spidey line
January Jones for your X-Men line
Hayley Atwell for your Captain America line

etc...

The title is funny it reminds me of Long Duck Dong! Oh Sexy Girlfriend!
