Wow it is amazing how spoiled some people get. When I look at some of the current offerings like these two, the HT Jack Sparrow, Loki, Sucker Punch Babydoll, and others I am just amazed at the likeness. But some people pick the sculpts apart to the very last millimeter of nose bridges and hairlines.

Remember it wasn't that long ago that this was considered premium.

I say we've come along way.

Not sure if anyone has said or caught this but on Bill's FB along with the pic of the Will Smith head, he said that the full announcement will be "5.25" which I assume means May 25th i.e. this coming Friday!
According to IMDB, May 25th is also the scheduled release date for the movie in some parts of the world, including the US. Perhaps they will synchronize the figure reveal with the movie release :D

I'm not even hyped about seeing the movie :lol

If the figures are actually released this month, that might be the incentive I need to actually go see MiB3 at the cinema. If not, then I might wait for the Bluray release :D

This post should be entered on each page. A reminder to the average ingrate. HT's even used to look that blah at one time.

Obviously. :)

Actually, it was Enterbay that were the true game changers with their sculpts of Kiefer Sutherland and Dennis Haysbert. HT didn't come close to these until they got to the Godfather.

HT have since rested on their laurels since then and, even with DX's, only produced the odd few great heads while EB have consistently improved.

The thing that makes you think HT are better is their marketing department!

:lol The few great heads. Good lord, EB fanboy much. As much as i'm tired of HT's BS they've literally owned their competition in every way.

They've had an ridiculous amount of home run figures. Not a few.

I certainly don't agree with that.

I love EB, I have been supporting them for years, but I think the closest head has been shopped. Thats why the others look different. They still look awesome though.

Don't think it's been shopped, I think it's the one hand painted by YJ Park or whoever is the proto painter on this project.

The others are probably the factory painted versions which we will see in hand.

Hmmm..maybe. The eyes look real to me though. And the shape/size of the head is different. Lets hope the production heads are even 50% of that.
Now that you mention it, just noticed the lighting is very close especially around the nose, so you are probably right.

They normally do an amazing job of their headsculpt paint apps.
Fingers crossed.

Actually no, I'm not an EB fanboy or fanboy of any one company. I just know a good sculpt when I see it.

The quality of HT's paint is stuck in a rut no matter how good the sculpting is, the paint is exactly the same style with every sculpt they do. As soon as you see an HT sculpt up close you know it's one of theirs. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Enterbay's paint apps, as they are now, work with and enhance the individual features of each sculpt. It's what lifts theirs above HT's, HT's looks like human skin I'll grant you that much, but, Enterbay make their paint apps mimic the skin of that person. It's why, in some photos, EB's heads look photo real. When you see an HT figure, you know it's an HT figure.

:lol

Fair enough, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

Wow! I thought Loki would be the best sculpt I'd see this week. I was wrong. :clap

:goodpost:

Both are excellent HS and it doesn't have to be a competition IMO

I agree with you Nova it's a slightly better sculpt than Nick Fury but it's an exaggeration to say the Will headsculpt is better than Loki. Will Smith is one of my favorite actors and I had high expectations from this but they made his head too round and that angle of the headsculpt in the middle of that pic makes it look like a black Jeremy Renner (hawkeye).

And yet you said the reverse for Loki :lol

What are discussing here? Overall figures or paint now?

It's also funny you mentioned The Godfather figures as being HT's turning point. Do you also remember how bad EB crashed and burned with their release? :lol So based on your logic, wouldn't that be the point where EB changed up their game and improved their product? :wink1:

Absolutely not, at the time, EB were still growing and weren't intending to compete with HT. I don't think they still are either.

HT do stuff which is popular and sells well. They choose licenses where the hype has already been done for them by the movie and ride on the back of that hype.

Was MIB as big as the others movies around it!? No, and neither will MIB 3 be. However, it has a cult following which appealed to EB. They do stuff that doesn't always have mass appeal, and some licenses do better than others.

EB are good company that is getting better. HT are just a big company that think they're better.

Dude you can't be serious? You don't think EB intends on competing past or present? Really? Have you seen their latest (about a year old now) license announcements?

- Robocop (already done by Hot Toys)
- Terminator 2 (already done by Hot Toys)
- The Dark Knight (already done by Hot Toys)
- Rambo III (already done by Hot Toys)
- Rocky (already done by Hot Toys)

Now don't get me wrong, aside from Bills lame ass announcements I have nothing against EB. I think they're absolutely talented and I even own their 1/4 scale T2. Just don't tell me they are what you make them out to be.

Oh and i've even recognized that HT's owed credit to EB for making them an improved company. Improved in the department of realism. We all know how amazing EB's Bruce Lee's were, even way back in the day.

My Godfather example still stands though.

Hmmm. I know of at least one example where if I could swap the paint apps between them I would - for me the paintjob on the 1/6 Hot Toys T-800 is better than the 1/4 Enterbay T-800. The latter is nice and all but they gave it peculiar pinkish highlights in the wrinkles and lines of the face - in the region of the eyes its exaggerated and makes him look like he had been rubbing his eyes after a good cry - decidedly not Arnie T-800. So yeah, give me the HT paintjob there.

Agree with Enterbay trying to compete and out-do things Hot Toys have already done. But the big difference is EB is doing them in 1/4 scale. :lecture
